I rec'vd a call from this number and they left a voice mail saying "they had an important message". Now if it is a collection company why would they be calling me?  I have not had a late payment or missed payment on my bills.

I had the call today. I called back, & it was about my past due payment for my credic card. (This number's business is FIA Card Services. It is like a pre-collections agency that my B.O.A credic card sent my information to, before it would be sent to the collections agency. The number may be shown as 888-785-7719)

They said that the call was a curtesy call, after they've received my information from my bank. & I can make a check-by-phone payment, which would be processed & shown on my credic card online statement as payment processed, & that I would not be reported to collections with this method of payment.
Now I asked a lot of questions -they had all my information. I also called customer service on my Credic Card, & asked them a ton of questions regarding this 888 number. (I must've made 6 calls back and forward). They said they are familiar with the FIA Card Services -they're the ones who gave me 888-785-7719. I called that number, and asked about the 888-821-6611, & it was the same business (FIA). I trusted my credic card customer service more obviously...so I asked if it was safe to process a check-by-phone payment, which they said yes. All I really needed to know, was that my Bank Credic Card was familiar with this business & said they were trustowrthy.

Now there was only one thing that didn't seem right, nothing huge... But FIA said I was late for the month of May & June... I KNEW I paid May.. But FIA said that was the information they've received. I was nice, & said I would call them back. I checked my online statement to confirm my payment/ Called my credic card & confirmed with them as well. Then I called back FIA & explained to them about my confirm statement/phone call. (It was a different lady) & she said her computer data said that I only missed payment on june. I was a bit confused, but at least I got everything else confirmed. & I at least know that my credic card was familiar with the FIA & said I can safely make a payment through them.

The only difference about making a payment through the FIA was so that I wouldn't be reported to collections. I hope this information helps. Just make phone calls!!! Get to the bottom of it. It'll help a lot

********FIGHT BACK*************

I sent FIA a Cease & Desist letter on 8/17/2009.  My cell phone documents them calling from 7am to 12:15 am.  They call 5-12 times per day.  They have continued to phone even after they received my letter on 8/19/2009.  I have a postal receit and have contacted an attorney.
***Here is the Cease & Desist verbage***

In addition to these issues, since August 10, 2009, FIA, BofA and or it’s collection partners have phoned me repeatedly and continuously as many times as 12 times per day with auto dialers and person to person phone calls, asking the same questions without regard to previous conversations.  The FDCPA considers repeat calls as harassment. [15 USC 1692d] § 806(5)

Pursuant to my rights under federal debt collection laws, I am requesting that you cease and desist all telephone communication with me, any 3rd parities, as well as my family, friends and places of employment I may have in the future, in relation to this and all other alleged debts you claim I owe.

You are hereby notified that if you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the California Attorney General’s office. Civil and criminal claims will be pursued

It is a collection agent, no matter who they say they are. They are trying to collect payment on your BofA credit card. Don't talk to them & don't send money. If you are late or you did not pay your cards minimum payment, just go to your local BofA branch and pay them directly. Check you statement for the amount due. It's that simple! Just be sure to get a receipt. When your account is current, the calls will stop in about 3 days. If you skip a payment, your banks computer will not show the payment as missing, only your current balance, so check your statement. The missed payment and late fee will remain on your account until paid. We had the problem of not enough of cash to pay, so we skipped a month. The next month we cleared it up. The missed payment plus late fee along with current payment. It adds up fast.

i have nothing passed due, and this number keeps calling me over and over.  The only thing that happened was I accidently went over $100 on the limit when I decided to pay my full coverage auto insurance for 6 months.  The check is already in the mail to address it to the bank of america visa card in the amount of 500.  now if they keep harassing me by calling over and over and over could  a case be made against them in the court of law? I just want them to stop calling/harassing.  In my opinion, if they didn't want me to overcharge by 100, then they shouldn't have honored it.  A week or so later after the calls happened, I recieved the letter saying "maybe it was an oversite, but you went over by ~100".  But the harassment is still the same.. every day at least 3 times.  No voice mails, nothing...  the only way I know it's them is b/c I looked it up and here I am at this site.

I keep getting phone calls from this  number and nothing ever happens. The line will stay unconnected for 3-5 minutes and then go directly to a busy signal. I work from my home and this is very annoying. I want to stop it, HOW????

One of the callers below stated this was from Bank of America and their credit department. I have no banking relationship with BofA at all and that includes credit cards!!

Florida Mike,

I think we should do something about this as this is horrible, I remember the manager told me that this card svc company manages more than 1 credit card company, so I think they are calling and making mistakes, because they told me a number to call back on and it was for citi bank???  not BofA.  Are you mailing a complaint letter to the billing inquiries?
BofA sends you to collections

My harrassment from BofA started on Monday June 23rd.  I have been called daily for a late payment.  Not saying it's ok to be late, but my situation has a reason for my payment being late. I refinanced and will be paying off my bill.  The title company sent the check to the wrong address...but have since resent overnight to a mailing address at BofA.  Unfortunately each time I received a call from BofA, i would tell them my situation, (4 calls later) but because NOONE enters notes into the call system, or if they do they dont care, I would have to tell my story over again.  Last night I got 2 calls, so I was really mad and asked for a manager, the manager put me on hold so long that I went into a general mail box for a company called Encore, which I found out later was a collection agency.  So then I called the regular number and got the customer satisfaction dept, who said since I closed my account it puts me to collections that I would need to speak to an acct mgr in the customer assistance dept...i spoke to Josh Greenfield, who said there is nothing I could do about it, that it is systematic that if you are late then you go to collections, that i just need to pay.  I said I wanted a mgr and he said he couldnt get me one or a name of one as it was against federal regulations, a privacy act...so I said he was full of beans and that he better get a mgr.  A miracle occured and he got me a mgr, or she said she was, and she said she would remove my number.  Now remember this all occured last night, right now I have rec'd 2 calls from this 888-821-6611 number and I am beside myself because the title company has already sent them a check.

I think they were bought out by Country wide and are hurting for money so they dont care if they harrass you.

ONe last thing this manager stated that the collectin agency Encore wasnt for real...not sure why she said that???

Here is the joke for the day...if you pay every month to BofA on time, and you call and tell them the check is on the way, and if it is 1 minute after midnight of your due date you are sent to Collections...moral of the story NEVER USE BOFA, their customer service is horrible and they harrass you.

Debt Collector
This company has been repeatedly calling my cell phone and asking for Selma (last name forgotten).  I have been ignoring the calls but there have been two this week.  I called back the number on the recorded message and got hold of a lady named Connie who identified her company as FIA Card Services.  I advised her I have been getting repeated calls from her company and that I have no business relationship with them and that my number is on the Do Not Call Registry.  She got very antagonistic and insisted that they had only ever called me today and that was one time only.  I advised her that the next call she gets would be from the Attorney General and hung up.  They called again within 10 minutes but I did not answer.  They do not leave messages.  Their website does not have an email contact so I will be writing them a formal complaint letter from home tonight. Other phone numbers and mailing addresses are on this page.
