Toll free service....they leave no message

I pick up the receiver and wait approximately 15 seconds, which is when a "live" person comes on the line.  Before they can get any words out at all, I tell them to stop calling my home.  I am documenting all of their calls and the fact that I told them to stop calling. I plan to file complaints with the FCC, the FTC, and the Ohio Attorney General. Enough of this crap already.....

inbound from 888-825-6044 - 4x today - tried 866 as suggested by corney and got connected to CenturyTel - the very nice lady told me that the numbers were theirs. She seems to think these were calls were from the promotions department...

I just don't answer, they call all the time, but I have noticed that they change from 888 to 866 and just keep on keeping on!!!  Idid just hear that sometimes if you answer and no one is there, they are just checking to see what is the best time to call.  It was suggested to hit the pound sign# as fast as you can about 6 or 7 times to mess up their machinery.  Am going to give it a try...

I don't have Century Tel so I don't know whom is calling.
Says "Toll Free Service"

Got 6 calls from 888-825-6044 today starting at 3 o'clock this afternoon with the last one at 8:47 PM which I caught. 5Th one was dead air and sixth one got a dial tone after 2 rings.  Caller ID shows "Toll Free Service".
Didn't answer the first few but got really P.O.d.  Finally answered the last one and got a human - from my Phone company Century Tel trying to sell me a new bundle special deal package.  Blew my top at her and told her I repeatedly asked to be removed from their telemarketing list and she said she would have it done but it would take a few weeks.

Hope this solves the mystery.

Nobody on the line. Dead air

I have gotten 7 calls from this number so far today. Haven't been home to take the calls, but that is annoying!!

ID:  Toll Free Service.  Asked my name, then said "Hi we're ______ (phone
provider). Thank you for your time."  then they hung up.

ID reads:  Toll Free Service and calls everyday!!!!!!!!!!  I'll never answer it, but it is an unsolicited, yet expected interruption that is getting as old as Groundhog Day.
