I got a call from Klein and  Associates from number 888 825-8045.  When I didn't answer the phone, they called my human resources department and told the person in HR that they were going to come to my job and have me arrested.  They claimed they are an attorney's office.

I immediately called back and made payment arrangements.  I paid them $300, then closed my account.  They had tried to contact me again and I haven't answered the phone (this was about a year ago).  I haven't heard back from them in about 9 months.

I don't even know what the debt is!  I got scared because they said they were attorney's and going to have me arrested, so I made payment arrangements and let them take $300 immediately.

I think it's a scam.  I can't find any attorney's under the name Klein and Associates!

Just got a call from a number in Texas saying that I was to receive a court summons and needed to call to reschedule so I don't get a failure to appear in court. Uh, I work at home, so IF this were legit I would have received the summons. I have found similar threads to this discrediting the number I received a call from as well as this phone number 888-825-8045, which supposedly belongs to Stein and Associates. I don't have any credit cards because I am in a consolidation program, so if this is a pathetic attempt to scare people into paying a debt I'm not buying that either! It must be a scam!

Got a call from an unknown number, The guy said I was getting summoned to court. and gave me 888-825-8045. I called after being put on hold for several minutes I was transferred to a guy, again being put on hold. When he came back on the phone he asked me to confirm my social security #. I told him that I wouldnt because I didnt know him. He instantly fot an attitude. I then asked for the company name and his response was you called me I didnt call you. I asked him again and  when his attitude got worse, I then told him I was calling BBB and FTC, he flew off the handle so I hung up on him.
Immeditaely tried  calling back to get a company name and voice mail activated.

This is a complete scam. I have received calls at my office for two years claiming a summons was being served forthwith - one moron told my secretary "the police were coming"...right. Police DO NOT serve summons in my county. Marshals do. The so-called "case number" of the "lawsuit" is not even close to the numerical case system used here in California. I have been given the name of three different attorneys - all of whom have been disbarred in New Jersey or Florida. The phone number, 888-825-8045 only goes to a voice mail.

These pathetic scam artists are a complete joke and NO ONE should be afraid of them. Simply report them to the FTC as I have done.

And on occasion, just for s**ts and giggles, I like to call them back and waste their time. Let them know what slime they truly are - and the posts on here claiming how legit they are and that you should pay them right away...all bu***hit...it's the very scam artists who are doing the calling.

They called my husband's supervisor at his work, which is not allowed by law.  You are to call human resources if you need to serve someone at their job.  So right there something seemed fishy.  Looked up info on this company, the "case number" they gave, and RPS and all of it comes up as being fraudulent and scam stuff.  So we handed it over to our attny's office and will let them handle it.

I was contacted by these idiots and I personally believe the guy who posted his message about his wife being an attorney. Everyone has debts no matter who you are and what your occupation and if the right circumstances exist, everyone can have a problem paying them. So, the true moron is the idiot from the company that is on here. You can look up lawyers in any state by searching their specific bars, so again this person who disputed that is the true moron. I have an old debt from these idiots and they have used several strategies to get me to call them back, which I refused. They do not have my work number, but they have a general number they use and I have been contacted by two people that are also employed where I work, saying they received a "strange message" about me and to contact these people. I am going to contact them in writing and ask the the phone calls stop and that I am disputing the debt. I am so going to send it certified. The federal government suggests that you do that because collection agencies are required to stop the contact. I am also going to file a complaint by calling 1-877-FTC-HELP. I suggests people who have messages from these idiots do the same. Here is the link to your writes as a consumer. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

This same number called me months ago.  Same deal.  Wanted to collect $1k on a $400 debt THAT DAY and if I didn't, I'd be sued the next day.  My husband got involved, told them he was reporting them to the FTC and we haven't heard anything since.  Also, I've since pulled my credit report and neither the original debt nor this collection co. was even on any of them! (I pulled all three).  I do have an address for them, but only because they sent me an email for bank draft info.  It was a vague form that was very unprofessional.  (At which point, my husband stepped in.)

Maybe a good rule of thumb is we should focus on more important issues>Like federal interest rates for credit cards that still go unchecked or ever difficult bankruptcy requirements.

This sounds like a bi*** fest and not going to end up helping any of us.I made a call on behalf of my husband and as expected he owes money and it is now time to try and make a next move.Bankruptcy won't work as he filed 3 years ago.And clearly did not learn a lesson.Anyhow stop running up debt if you don't have job security and if you owe enough and are covered file BK.Or you can reasonably expect to get sued if you live in states that allow them those options.

Seems to me a determined enough skip tracer could have found your home address and had you served properly. What you got amounts to sewer service, which I suspect was the collector's plan. I would bet your local court rules of civil procedure would agree with the parcel center rules, that a random employee cannot substitute for you or a household member. I would see if the collector has pulled stunts like this before and explore getting the judgment vacated. Your lack of attachable assets is saving you now, but you can't live on nothing forever.

Possibly leaving that summons exposed on a shop counter could be pulled under FDCPA, being a move meant to shame and harass you. Maybe you can countersue if you get a good consumer attorney interested enough to work on contingency. Then you might use the statutory payout to finance your bankruptcy filing. Interesting that the parcel center staff followed their own rules to a 'T'. They must have been happy not to have to work around it like a speed bump on their counter.

If anyone is full of shite it is you, I have noticed a trend on this forum for representatives of this group to post false information to try and scare you into calling them. As for having a wife that is an attorney and not having a debt...are you really that stupid to think that everyone who is gainfully employed in any field to not have debt you moron. The key is that these debt collectors take debts that are about to be charged off...call you with some threat (illegal to do btw) or it could even be what is called zombie debt ( a debt that should have been charged off but hasn't been) and if you call them back and they hold you on the line for any length of time, they then claim to the courts that you are acknowledging the debt and get an order against you to pay. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK. If by chance you answer the phone just tell them quickly to put it in writing and to not call you again and hang up.

As for you DUH ( name says it all) if you didn't notice I did say I am disabled. Anyone with a brain knows that filing and getting approved for disability (especially in the state of Washington) takes about 3+ years. So yes, some of my old debts had to sit unpaid for a bit while and was in the process of dealing with the government. Not to mention my wife's student loans for law school we had to pay at the same time. SO, unless you know all the facts you idiot don't post calling people liars and "Have a coke and smile and shut the Fvck up!" have a nice day.
