Call your power company.  Look up the number in the phone book or on line.  If someone called you saying they were from your power company do NOT call the number that called you.  The caller was probably a scammer.

I decided to call this number back after them calling me all morning... they answer guy asked for my phone # I gave it to him asked for my name gave him one but no last name he tells me what's my last name and I tell him well i want to know y they keep calling me if I don't even have an acct with DIRECT ENERGY he said well ur name is on our list and I said well if my name is on the list what's my last name then?? He was like u called us I started laughing and told them to go ahead and keep calling they are not scamming me they are rude and scamming damn at least be nice tdf the number was 18888354449 fraud fraud

Continue to receive calls from this organization.  One time they asked for someone I've never heard of.  Told them I've had my phone # for over 10 yrs, so nobody else could have used it.  They apologized.  They continue to call.  Last time they called I asked for an official address and name of CEO so my attorney could send them a cease and desist letter, lest they be sued.  Nobody answered my request, but they continue to call.

This number calls me multiple times every day. When I answer, I get no response. I have started ignoring the calls hoping that they would stop calling me, but have had no success.

Nope. This is DE. I don't work for them but have friends that do. I get a call from this number because I keep forgetting to change my due date to about 4 days later, so they call to remind me that my payment is due. When they call out they can have the information in front of them, but when you call back, the systems don't talk to each other so yes, they do need to get your information to move forward. Not everyone in this world is out to get you.

I received a call today and I didn't answer.  I have never heard of Direct Energy.  I live in North Carolina and don't even have an account.  I don't know how they got my phone number.  I don't answer phone calls when I don't recognize the number.

I am an employee at a local gymnasium for lifting and i work at the front desk. it is very inconvenient for me to have to answer every single call that comes from this number while im busy working and no one is ever on the line! if it continues i will have to make more reports or go to the source of it all. we've had quite enough!

Please stop these harrasing calls I receive them everyday and there is no one on the line they do not leave a message and when I try to call back there is no one there.

got calls at 10:25, 1:04, 1:33, 2:05 and 2:41 - all went to voice mail but left a 1 second 'recording'.  Based on the advice here I called and had them remove my number from their call list.  No idea if its a scam or not, but look them up on wikipedia - they have a less than stellar reputation.

Sounds like you work for this company and make these phone calls. This is clearly a scam. I've  received numerous call from them for almost a year now. Every time and I do mean every time I pick up I say hello twice and they hang up. Today I received the call, picked up, they hung up, they called back twice and I sent them to voicemail, next time they called I picked up and they hung up. So I called the number back and wow I actually got an answer and the first thing they ask me was for my account number. REALLY? How dumb do you think I am.

STOP CALLING ME!!! I AM IN SCHOOL! I AM GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE. I DO NOT KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU. LOL these calls are definitely from direct energy, I talk to them all the time. They will call you and let you know when your bill is past due, or when you qualify for a program at a reduced rate that will save you money. Sure they make mistakes every now and then, but no company is perfect. I like having them as my electric company. I have paid my bill through their phone service a couple times and never had issues. I'll admit, when they call several times in the same day it's kind of annoying, but they're just looking out for you. I'd be concerned if you are getting these calls but don't use direct energy. Other than that they are ok in my book. No other company actively promote a system to try and help you keep current on your bills, so I like it.

I received many call from 888-835-4449 and i'm in DO NOT CALL list too. I call up Direct Energy Customer Server  877-859-4679 and speak to their Service Rep. She looks up my phone number in their database (don't know how they had it, since i have no business with them) and remove it.
Hopefully i don't receive their call any more.

If this is direct energy, I have gotten it three times this morning and have not answered. They do not leave a message. My payment for electricity was due two days ago so must be why they are calling. But I went on line early this morning before the calls started and pay the bill. Wonder how long it takes the systems to catch up with each other.

They called us twice today- the first time, when I didn't answer, it went to voicemail and they didn't leave a message. The second time they called and it went to voice mail (I was mostly asleep), and they left an automated message about how direct energy had 'recently updated their security procedures' and encouraged me to log on to their website with my billing information, log into my 'secure direct energy account', and update my information for them.



Except we don't get our power from direct energy- we get our power from Horizon Utilities. Of course I think they may have done goofed here, since they included a residential address to send any questions to (in Markham Ontario- it's probably a PO box, but might not be lol). Gonna record the entire thing and send it to the fraud division.

Don't believe these people. I googled this number after I missed the call. Then got another call saying I was 300 past due. I had never heard of them before. So I called my power company and they said they show my payment due on 2/19 and it is scheduled to come out that day.

Got a call from this number to my voicemail. "Bridget" said the call was for Matthew Hernandez (which is NOT my name) from First Trust Power, which also differs from my real power company by one word. "Bridget" said I should call a phone number which, after I did some checking, was the correct phone number for my power company.

I would say that Direct Energy was probably acting on behalf of my electric company, but they did such a poor job I thought it was a phishing attack.

It's Direct Energy, if you don't have an account you can call them back and ask to remove the number. takes 24-48 hours in the mean time expect to get 6-8 phone calls a day.

I just got a call from this number asking for Samantha, when I stated they had the wrong number the caller then said someone is using my information and please give the last four numbers of my social security.  When I asked who the hell was calling he  mumbled and name and company. I told him to go screw himself. Rude I know but I smell a scam.

This number has called me at least once a day for well over a month. The number but no name comes up on Caller ID, and there's never a message on my answering machine. I am on the DO NOT CALL list, and I have never done business with Direct Energy.

Direct Energy will call you on the due date to "remind you and offer to take your payment over the phone. For your convenience." I raised a ruckus with them and gave them a quote from another energy provider. One more you want to help me call and I will switch. I didn't get any calls for months until tonight.
