Got a call from a Joann Davies, she was very threatening...I kept the call and we all laughed at the message we heard, you see I work in the legal department of the local sheriffs office.  seems these calls are making the rounds today.  we even called the number they left (which was spoofed) 215-305-8137 and we got a message that said department of investigations, this line does not take calls....them it hangs up on you....its laughable to us, but I know to the average consumer its not so let me go over this for all of you.  This is a collection agency, they go by many name and phone numbers, they even spoof being from one and actually that line may not even be where it says it is. They change their numbers to avoid being found.   Real Low Life. Here's the lay of the land as they say, I work in the court system so I will go thru this for you .

First they are calling because they say they can not find you. This is Crap as the sheriff, will NEVER, EVER call you to tell you they are coming. They live to work on the element of surprise. Plus if your township, county etc, wants you, they already know where you are, so sit tight.

Second, and most important, NEVER CALL these low life bottom feeders back.  Because truth be known they don't care who they talk to as long as they can get money from someone. It doesn't even have to be the right person. If you call them back then they know that they have a real tangible working phone number that they can call to harass you all the time of day and night.  Just ignore the call, or better yet, tag them as a spam call in your phone, and you'll never even see them ring it.

Third, these people function and live on the *Fear factor* they will say anything,  tell you anything to get you to give them the money thru your checking account, debit card or credit card.  Many people get scammed this way. I've heard : coming to your workplace to arrest you, serving you in the morning if you don't call by a certain time, attaching your salary, etc, etc, this is all nothing but crap.

Fourth, in most states payday loans are ILLEGAL as they charge obnoxious interest, and states are trying desperately to control that.  Since I'm not sure of what state anyone is in, I cannot site them all here, but if you go to your states attorney general page, you should be able to look up the laws.

Fifth, I know it sounds nice to send them a letter or report them, but this is a futile. They have got this to a science.  With all that is going on in court system they know they have time on their side.  Not enough of these low life bottom feeders get caught and prosecuted, if they did...they wouldn't still be in business, but they are, thousands of them.

Lastly, anyone who posts that you are scum or a deadbeat PAY YOUR BILLS , OR OMG  they came to my place of work and arrested me, are full of crap and are just trying to SCARE you, SEE MY THIRD NOTE Above, Fear factor.

Best thing to do in this case, especially with these people is TO IGNORE. Eventually when no one engages with them they will go away to torment someone else.

These clowns (Justin Blake) called me saying it was a final notice for a debt for someone we've never even heard of. Threatened that sheriffs would come to my home or office and this was the LAST chance. Odd, these jokers have called twice before with the same song and dance. Usual scam of threats of police action and process serving, when they can do nothing of the sort. They just try to scare people into paying money for debts that don't exist or aren't their's. I don't know the girl they're looking for, but if I was her I'd sic a car load of lawyers on these weasels. You can hear the jack***es laughing and carrying on in the background. And they never give the actual name of the company. Just think of how low you have to be do to take this job. Number comes back to Consolidated General.

I called my lawyer.. I'm not paying these scammers a thing. It's a lie. Don't pay these ppl.

I don't owe these guys janything....the first half a dozen times they called I politely explained I was not B. Hearn and that he had used my name as a reference wrongfully and to cease and desist frrom calling me again.  This has gone on repeatedly and I have had enough and will be filing complaints with the New York and Indiana attorney generals office, the FTC and anyone else that will listen.....rude as xell and don't care that they are breaking the law by coninously calling a non-debtor  their number they are using now is:   888-604-8394      The jerk of a supervisor was a Mike Moore and both he and the secretary answering the phone refused to provide me with their corporate address..

AFB  called my family, and i called them back.  Wish I had never done that.  They said I had 48 hours to make payment arrangments with them or they would see me in couirt. I asked for smomething in writting and they said they could not do that.  They asked if I owed this debt and I said no I paid this, and would look for documentation.  Supposed to call them back.  Shouold I?

Assuming you sent your DV letter by USPS Certified within your 30 days, and you have the return card, any emails or calls or letters after that date of their notification and *before* validation is sent (which may be never) can be considered "continued collection activity". You get that, you get standing to sue.

I get calls all of the time.  The 1st time I told them to send me something in writing by us mail.  I then sent them a debt validation letter and of course I have yet to receive anything back.  Now I am also getting emails about a payment that I was supposed to have set up with them using account # *****4.  I haven't talked with anyone about a payment and I have no accounts that end in 4.  I saw another post from a another phone number they use and it was about others receiving the exact same email .  Do not send them anything.  Oh and when they send an email with their email address listing at the bottom for replies, it is misspelled.  So if you do send a reply it will kick back.

I have received many calls from a so called Kristen greenc calling from something like aspn asscosiates or something like that she never seems to say it clear so I don't understand. After calling back feeling a bit scared because she read out my info and told me she was calling on behalf of cash net USA over a 100 dollar loan that I took out and didn't pay back she stated I will get filled to Harris county court and I all court fees and tickets will be almost 1500 .she than offered to set up a payment plan with me because I owe them 760$ from 100$ I borrowed.us this fake ? Is it legal ? And what should I do !? To be honest I'm so tierd of these calls she said if I don't call back by 9pm I will be reported to the Harris county court

Keep receiving calls from a Janice Young with AFB. Spoke with her one time. The loan she spoke of was an existing loan, but the amount didn't seem right. Said to stop legal action, both on a criminal level (bounced check) and civil level (default) I had to set up a paymen plan. So I did, using a pre-paid debit card that I didn't load. When the first payment didn't go through I received a few voicemails regarding that. After a couple weeks the tone changed back to the same voicemails I received before speaking with her in the first place. Kind of strange that it would just run in a circle. One voicemail says I missed payment and legal action will proceed, next voicemail says please contact us to avoid legal action...same exact voicemail as the first time she called. On top of that, I also receive robot voicemails from AFB. It all seems rather strange. I'm wondering if there is a legit AFB that just doesn't have their crap together as well as a fake AFB that's scamming....

I had the same thing going on as what K is describing.   I answered a few of these calls and asked for documentation etc. but received nothing.  I am not answering any more of these calls.  I am not sure why these folks exist but I do believe that there is nothing ligit about this company.  They are very good at shaking a person up though.

So I got a call from Michael Moore today. At this number.  At AFB.  He wants me to set up payment for a loan.  I asked for paperwork like you all said here and he said he'll send it but I must make payment arrangements today or the lawsuit against me will be filed.  Can or will they actually file a suit against me?  I hung up on him when I said I'd like to see an email or something proving they are who they are and he said "fine, the judgement will be made against you."  Obviuosly he was not going to give me the info.  He had my bank account #, birthday, last 4 of my ssn, address.  Etc.  What???

They have called me over 100 times in the last 7 days. Saying I owe them 7500.00 and if I dont  pay them I will go to prison. I asked them when this happen they said that they could not give me the date or year.
So I told them to go pound sand......

I just got one from Jay Williams at AFB & Associates.  And boy am I glad that I didn't answer.  These types of loans are illegal in my state and since I have never had one, I say Scam.  Thanks for posting your experiances, its sparing me from one  :)     And after listening to his veiled threats on the voicemail about garnishing my wages and taking me to court, this company is fraud.

Got a call from Michael from AFB & Associates today, asking for me to call them back regarding a civil judgement claim against an "Andr** Le***', saying I am listed as a major respondent and that they must have my statement TODAY.  I do not know "Andr** Le***", so I am sure I am NOT a respondent to any civil judgement claim.  I call BS on this call, and will not be responding!!

They cannot threaten you with a lawsuit, jail , or anything. Ask for documents . Thery are AFB a scam

I have received several calls from Mr. Hughes. I have also been passed to his supervisor. Since they were stating they were the "pre-legal" dept I asked for the lawyers name and state the lawyer is from. Never could get one. I asked for documentation of debt, they emailed me a very generic letter. I have not given them any $$. But they keep calling, sometimes with a different number. They say this is your last chance to take care of this matter...then why call back. Threatening to file to the full extent of the law but does not quote the law. Threatned to file what they call a VOE, verification of employment, yep I work.

They will even attempt to cause physical harm.  I have reported them to my local authorities.
