Had a couple missed calls from this number. When I finally answered they asked for some person I didn't know. I explained there was no one by that name at that number and that I only had the # for less than a week she was polite and told me she would remove the # from their list.

I keep getting phone calls from LHR in regards to a Legacy Visa card that I cancelled and paid off years ago. Now I have to go through all my filed bank statements and bills to fax everything to them because they just recieved this account two weeks ago. This will be the second time since I paid this account off that I have had to prove that it is paid off.

Debt Collector
Got a phone call tonight at 8:07pm indicating they were from LHR (which apparently doesn't stand for anything - although I believe if their website is www.lhrinc.com then it does). The gentleman I spoke with was named Micah, regarding some debt from years ago, and he wanted to know how we could settle the debt "voluntarily". I advised him that I wouldn't speak with him about anything until I had something in writing, to which he rebutted that they had in fact sent letters (of course they did). I gave them a new mailing address (but not physical) to send a letter to. Next step is making them validate (not verify) the debt. Called from 602-334-4140

I had them call me a couple times but didn't leave a voicemail. When I looked up the number over the internet, I saw this forum. I knew my bills were in order (I didn't have any collection accounts, at least that I was aware of) so I quickly returned their call via the 888-845-5995 number. My call was answered promptly. Tim was surprisingly very polite and courteous (you never know what you'll get when you call these types of companies). They were indeed looking for a different person. I recently switched from Verizon to AT&T and with that I got a new number. When I explained that to Tim he apologized for the calls and said he'd remove me from there list.

answered phone at work and they said i would like to place a order, i said we do not take orders from a 888 number and then they asked for a employee of mine. i told them sorry but we do not allow personal phone calls here, he said its not personal, i told him if it did not concern my store it was personal, called me a liar and why would i lie to him about something that was not true.  i am the gm of this store and that is our policy. and told them not to call back. started yelling. hung up and got number from caller id. called back and they answered  LA Chase, i asked to speak to the manger there about a rude phone call, same person i talked to came on tying to be someone else. told them i do not want to speak to them, put someone else on the phone, same person trying to cover there voice.... told them i have the name of the company they are useing and the phonenumber, told them if they called back we would take this for a disput. just put them in there place have not heard from them again.

This debt collection agency is apparently chasing the deadbeats who had our phone number a very long time ago. It is infuriating that they use recorded messages that don't allow us to tell them they have the wrong number and to cease harassing us.

Left no message.  According to the internet (virtually every site), they're debt collectors.  I have no debts and never have had debts.  I've had the same phone number for 17 years.  Therefore, they're probably fishing (calling everyone with a similar name or people they might think are related in order to find a particular debtor).

Here's how to stop them:

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

They call trying to collect debts from my son, who died last June.  So every day I get these calls.  My son was 36 when he died so these debts never had anything to do with me.  Of course there is no way to really contact them and get them to stop, but boy if there is ever a lawsuit, count me in.

I have a message on my answering machine that says I need to call 8888455995, because of a debt.   I do not owe any debts, and I am on a do-not-call list.   I would like them to get in touch with me through the mail if it is legitimate!   I work nights, and do not appreciate their phone calls!!!

I get really frustrated on auto phone dialing programs.  In reading these other posts I feel confident that there is nothing that we owe from a bad debt.  If it was truly a bad debt, you would get something in the mail.  Doesn't any type of collection attempts need to be done in writing?

My call was similar to the others, asking for a Heather somebody.  Told me to call them at 888-845-5995 and gave me a reference number.  Not going to call back.

If you do call back, NEVER give them any personal information.  Too much identity theft going on out there.

They called asking for some unknown (to me) person. The recorded female voice had a British accent; perhaps to make them seem classy/upscale?  I thought it was just plain silly. They said they were calling Heather SomethingOrOther to collect a debt.

Sorry, wrong number!

I've been receiving calls from this company for a while now, asking for somebody who does not live here. Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to speak to an actual person. The most recent time, however, I let my machine take the call, and a long message was left which included their website, lhrpay.com

I went to that site, where I was given the option to chat with a consultant. I chose to do so, and within a matter of minutes he agreed to take my number off their list.

This is a collection agency.  They are calling my number because one of my neighbors has something they want to talk to them about.  They are looking up numbers near addresses of people that won't answer their phones. Ridiculous!
