Looks like the person at the phone company you talked to blew you off.  You do not have to update your information on the DNC list every six months.  Once you register you stay registered until you either change your number or you tell the FTC to take you off the list (which can only be done from your phone.)

As stated in the FAQs on the DNC website (http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry):
How long does my phone number stay registered?
Telephone numbers on the registry will only be removed when they are disconnected and
reassigned, or when the consumer chooses to remove a number from the registry.

What if I change my mind? Can I take my number off the National Do Not Call Registry?
You can delete your phone number only by calling toll-free 1-888-382-1222 from the telephone
number you want to delete. After you contact the registry to delete it, it will be removed from the
National Do Not Call Registry by the next day. But telemarketers have up to 31 days to access
information about your deletion and add your number back to their call lists, if they choose to.

Got a call today. Sounds exactly the same. The guy was "Rodger." I was dumb enough to get all the way up to the point where the computer share program asked, "Are you sure you trust this person? This is a free version of the software." I hope I didn't blow it...

Add me to the list. I finally got him to agree that I would call him tomorrow so I could check out this phone number. I was not even at home on my computer when he called (heavy accent, I had 'Kevin'). I wasted about 7-8 minutes of his time but nothing to do with my computer.  He may have been with Net Pro, I could NOT understand the company he kept repeating, but it 'sounded official' with helping clean up MicroSoft Windows.

Got call from Ethan claiming to be from Microsoft.  Told me there was serious security threats on my computer.  He wanted me to turn on computer and we would get rid of the threats together.  He said that this is the only way to fix my computer.  (Nothing wrong with computer) Told him I would not turn on computer he then told me if I didn't except his help, Microsoft would remove my license within 48 hours.  I told him I would call him back, he gave me 1-888-867-1858 number and said ask for Ethan.  Never intended to call back.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

A woman with strong accent ( East Indian I believe) called today. This is the 6th such call I've received in the last month. They scammed my elderly mother into letting them take control of her computer. Luckily she didn't have any account numbers or sensitive material on her PC. We had to wipe the computer clean in order to remove the virus they planted. I repeatedly told the callers that I'm on the "no call" list, to take my number off their list and never call me again. Today I called our phone company for help. They only recommended that I update the "No call" list registration every 6 months. When I did I saw a warning on the website that there are scam calls being made where they claim to be the government "Do not call" list and  are calling to help the recipient register - unbelievable!

Woman with heavy Indian accent called claiming that my computer had an error message (it didn't).  When pushed, she said she worked for Microsoft.  She said her name but would not spell it.  The number on our caller ID came up as 99966.  She said she had my IP address, but knew nothing else about my computer (a Mac).  When I asked a number I could call her back on she gave me 888-867-1858.

I got a call from this number claiming to be with Security from Microsoft claiming all these errors with my computer. Accented Indian male claims to be w/ Microsoft or a Microsoft authorized contractor.  Wants me to turn on my computer and give control to him.  When pushed and told I'll call Microsoft to inquire, he gets his "supervisor" who tries to hard-sell me. They are harassing me with phone calls.
They have the clsid for my computer. And there is error messages in the event viewer. How can I make sure they aren't getting info.

It was obvious this was a scam from the start.  Indian accented male with the name 'Peter' made the same claims already posted about Microsoft contracting out to them to provide tech support for my "Window's computer" that was having serious problems. (My computer wasn't having any problems).  When I told him Windows wasn't a computer he switched to operating system.  I asked where they were located and he told me someplace in the UK like Holburn (?).  He did give me the number when I asked for it and when I called back I got another guy named Terrance.  I hope nobody falls for this blatant scam.  Is there anyway to report and stop this?

Yesterday I received a call from a woman with a heavy East Indian accent and she said that Microsoft had reported that my computer was infected with viruses that could not be detected by the usual anti-virus programs such as malware. She wanted me to get on my computer and she would instruct me how to clean off the viruses. I declined saying that I would check myself and call back the number, 1-888867-1858, if needed. What a scam!

I was called by someone with a heavy Indian accent named Ryan.  He was calling on behalf of Connecticut Light & Power to let me know that I would be receiving  6% discount on my next electric bill.  He just needed to verify my information.  When he got down to asking for my account number, I cut him off.

If you can, contact your bank immediately - the people who called you are scammers!    Microsoft does not call people unless they've called them first!  Also, Microsoft does not contract out their work to other companies.

If you gave them access to your computer you will also need to take it to a reputable computer repair store - they will check and take care of any malware, etc, which was likely installed onto your computer.
