Has anyone ever looked into if this is a scam? I've heard of people calling you like this, and then telling you to call them back. And when you call them back, it's a pay line, and they charge you like $50 per minute. So while your on hold because your worried about your credit, they keep you on hold for 5 minutes and now you have a $125 charge on your next phone bill.

We are receiving lots of calls from this number at a business. We have multiple lines coming in so we never knowwhich number they are calling. NCO leaves a reference number at the end of their automated message and if you give them that reference number, they can delete the number that they called from their data base. Just be patient and listen to the message until you have that number.

I have been called by NCO from this number, 888-871-6484, and from 716-404-2231, for nearly two months. Both numbers leave the same message, that it is NCO, trying to collect a debt, and to call "Dan Radechak" at this number. The voices leaving the message are at least three or four different male voices, and three different women, including one very exotic "British" accent, and a Hispanic accent, but they all say to call back for "Dan." Anyway, I got tired of the whole pest thing, and called them, and did not tell them a thing except the number I am calling from, nothing about Dan, nothing about the ID# they leave at the very end of the long-winded message. When they got the number, they named a person, first and last name, who definitely is not either one of us in this house, and apologized very politely when I said I did not know her. Thing is, how can they give out her name, and if that is really who they were after, why are they calling our phone? We have had this number since early 1980s, maybe longer. Nobody else has ever used it in over 30 years. Something fishy here? They said they would stop calling. We shall see.

I received a call from another number, 716-404-2231, which left a clear and complete recorded message to the effect that they are trying to collect a debt, and to call back to someone named Dan something, at this number, 888-871-6484.  So far as I am aware, neither of us has outstanding bills, and the credit cards are paid up. I am not inclined to make a telephone call to some number just because they choose to leave an unsolicitied  message for me to do so. My understanding is that the law requires they notify debtor in writing, on letterhead, regarding any debt, showing the amount, the origin, the account number, and a name and address to which the putative debtor may reply.

Received a message to call Dan Matachak at 888 871-6484 and they left an account number. Have requested my credit report to see if anything shows up. There was no debt listed on my last report a couple of years ago. If I see there is no debt, I will send them a letter to stop calling me. Have received other notices from other debt agencies and have sent them letters. Never heard from them again. I believe they have the wrong person but want to make sure my ducks are all in a row.

This number called yesterday did not leave a message on my answering machine.  This number called again today.  I answered it was a prerecorded message of a foreign woman,  difficult to understand.  All I could understand is call some person I have never heard of and something about a debt.  I don't have any debt,  I truly believe this is a scam.

This NCO keeps calling me. They started calling about 2 wks after I moved and got my new phone number. They've been calling for 5 mos. now they call almost every day some times twice a day. I don't answer , they always leave a message ,but never say who they wish to talk to. I do not have any debt that has been given to a debt collection agency.

Call the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and your State Police. When they call back, tell them that you are aware they are running an extortion ring, have notified the authorities and hang up.

PEOPLE... I USE TO COLLECT DEBT... I AM APOLOGIZING TO YOU NOW... I AM SORRY... BUT, HERE IS WHAT I HAVE LEARNED, TO HELP YOU GOOD FOLKS OUT...  Dont ignore the calls... Call them back, go ahead and give them the phone number that they contacted you on, (they already have it anyway,) find out the original debt was.. how much is the principal... when it was charged off... and most likely it is out of stats, so send them a cease & desist letter to their fax # which is 716-404-2123... BE SUPER NICE AND POLITE, DONT LOSE YOUR TEMPER, (its not gunna get you anywhere but mad) ... these people LOVE TO GET YOU MAD ON THE PHONE...  THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE TRAINED FOR.  yes they are rude, but kill them with kindness, that"ll piss 'em off... IT IS OK TO TELL THEM YOU WILL NOT PAY... they will then mark your account as "refuse to pay" and they will hang up on you!!  they dont care about the laws or FTC. You wont hear from them again

Just received my second call from this outfit, both with a recorded message that they are seeking to collect a debt and asking me to call someone. No idea what it is about, but I refuse to discuss finances over the phone.

Also, if you ever acknowledge that there may be a debt, the collection agency ha a more valid legal ground to harass you or pursue legal action. Never admit a debt to a collection agency. You have never made a contract with them. If the original creditor, if any, wants to pursue a debt (again, if any), then they will need to contact me themselves in writing.

Most of the time, a collection agency is pursuing a debtr written off long ago, and sold to them for pennies on the dollar, or less.

I moved and have a new land line. Get alot of calls that must be the person who had the number before me and no one will listen that I am not the person they are looking for. So now instead of being annoyed listening to it ring and go to voice mail I hit my answer button, wait 1 second and then hit my disconnect button. This way they can not leave there annoying messages.  I have done this now with all the ones I know are not mine and a couple have stopped trying. Sadly not this crack pot company but its there waste of time in the future not mine anymore.

Have been called repeatedly now at the number mentioned above (888-871-6484), being told to call a Dan Radichek (last name possibly spelled incorrectly), and was told they needed to collect a debt.  After reading these posts I will ignore all further calls from this number.  Thank you!

We are being called by a robo-caller stating that they are 'NCO Financial' seeking information to collect a debt.  A reference number is provided with  this phone number saying to contact Dan Madachek (unknown spelling).  Calling this number on a week-end results in a message that no voicemail may be left because the mailbox is full.

We do not have any debts, yet we have been called over 10 times in the last two weeks. We ran a government provided free annual credit report to confirm that there were no debts (in case of identify theft).
NCO has a website with a section of 'consumer support'.  There is a form that says you can stop the calls by completing the information on line. This form requests personal identification information (also known as 'phishing').  DO NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION!

We have been told by others that to stop these calls, we need to send a letter to the firm.  The firm's address according to their website is:

Nice job of violating Federal law, NCO. Tried calling me at 7:32am, and even left voicemail. I'm sure I can find an attorney who would LOVE to take your $1000 for the FDCPA violation.
