my parents home received a VM from this number say that a resume has been received and to call this number schedule and interview. Was an automated VM

I called the number and stayed on the line long enough to find out the name of the company. It's a shady business called American Life. They collect resumes off of websites like Monster.com looking to recruit people to sell their insurance and to recruit other people, regardless of what's on the resume. I've found all kinds of complaints about their business practices on the web from former customers and former employees. The fact that their automated calls and their own phone system don't even mention their name should be a big red flag.
Jeremy 2011-06-06 21:06:06 Unknown
Correction: The company name is American Income (Life Insurance).

Ditto...Keeps calling me everyday!
vb 2011-06-06 21:06:06 Unknown
Thanks for the info. I received a call from them as well, but was put on hold and asked to call back. They also mentioned recieving my resume. I figured it to be a scam because of the 88888 number.

got a message said they saw my resume and wanted me to call, I called at 3am knowing the company would be closed to get a voice mail of who and what the caller ID is. But a person picked up the call, I hung up the phone, because most companies will tell you who they are and this company did not. So don't call the number looks strange.

I got a message also, said they saw my resume and wanted me to call...I called , a guy said that this is American income insurance company ...ask me for my email and for my current address for scheduling me on interview, I said that I can not give him my address I can give only my zip code...he said its not gona work...and if I want I can check on their web site in career section for job... I said ok , but I'm not gona do it... they collect your information...something is wrong....

It is an automated system. Answer the call and opt out of talking to anyone. They shouldn't call you again.

1-888-883-9306 called me yesterday late (Jan 17, 2011 @ 5:40PM) and left a message about finding my resume and that they have a job for me. I should call them back as soon as possible. That's it !!! No person's name and no company. Red flags went up everywhere. I never the less called them back the next day and after about 5 tries got connected to a person by the name of Robert. The company name is American Life and this is to to about insurance. I told Robert that their "robocall" practices are not condusive of someone wanting a job with them. I told Robert that I am not interested and don't call me again.

designergirl 2011-01-13 21:04:54 Unknown
So does anyone know how to get off their list!? I get 2 or 3 calls a day for the past few weeks. I never bothered to look into it until today and saw all these helpful posts. But I am getting sick of these calls.
kh 2011-01-13 03:18:24 Unknown
Said they wanted to set up a job interview.
Nate 2011-01-13 00:02:23 Unknown
This is a bunch of crap!!! With so many people out of work, and hoping that the phone rings with an actual time for an interview, and these guys have the audacity to play on people's desperation like that!? I hope their office gets struck by lightning and burns to the ground!!
Emily 2011-01-11 00:20:40 Unknown
I just got this call about 1 hr. ago. I knew something was up when they didn't say their name in the message. Called back just to pull a "find out the name and hang up".... they don't say their name even when you call back, just, "Please wait on the line while your call is answered". No thanks!

Caller took about 6 seconds before I heard a voice of a recorder already on play. Stated that they received my resume and I have the skills to succeed. The sad thing is that I have been looking for a job and my resume has been posted on monster.com and careerbuilder.com. WTF? All they need is my SS# and my identity could be stolen, if it hasn't already.
nonnonsense 2011-01-04 00:55:42 Unknown
I received the same message. Thanks for the heads up!
MB 2011-01-03 23:39:23 Unknown
Thanks everyone for the heads up. really appreciate it.
DonnaK 2010-12-30 17:38:19 Unknown
Yep - same thing. On top of the phone call, I keep getting emails from these scammers because I included my email address on my resume. I too have been out of work for a year now and this junk is just so disappointing when you're trying to find work.
PC 2010-12-28 14:13:06 Unknown
Thanks for the heads up... I received a call also... shame on this company
Ikallicrates 2010-12-28 14:02:14 Unknown
I actually did post a resume online. Many resumes. Like a lot of people during this recession, I've been out of work for quite a while - long enough to have received other calls like this one.
If you call them back, they usually put you on hold and you rack up a big phone bill. Sometimes they don't even put you on hold. Just calling them is enough.
If they don't give their name, don't call back. It's a scam. A legitimate company would give their name - but so many people are out of work now, and they're desperate. They want to believe this is a legitimate job offer. People who take advantage of their misfortune should be put in jail.

Same voicemail. Wat the hell I never posted my resume online anywhere...where did they fine mine... Thanks guys for this info... :)
mw 2010-12-23 13:08:25 Event Reminder
Got the same voicemail. Message said that I had the skills that they needed and to call them to schedule an interview. Had been looking, thought it was legit, but it had a 'scammy' feel to it.
Has anyone gotten to the bottom of what they're up to? What do they want?
Just information miners?
TD 2010-12-22 22:50:39 Unknown
Got the same exact voicemail with a brief pause before the recording even started. What a bunch of nonsense!!! Called the number back and it told me my call would be handled in the order it came on, rung three times, and automatically hung up!!

Thank goodness for the internet! Now we can search to weed out the scam artists like Amy E Major from Barry University/Lorraine Leary from St. George's University and this phone number 888-883-9306
