Download and run malware bytes also, its free and you can find it on filehippo. Change any and all passwords as they most likely got any and all information off your computer also. The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

Called this number thinking I was getting help with a Brother Printer. They showed me all sorts of things about my computer that I am not sure existed before....smooth talking....thought I was getting help until I was escalated to Bob Jackson (with an accent from India!) Somehow my gut told me this wasn't right. I Googled the number Bob gave me and saw these reviews. I told Bob I would call him tomorrow...he told me to leave my computer on all night and they would fix my problems....that was my cue to disconnect. Thank you all for posting... you saved me. Hopefully they did not dump anything on my new computer and hopefully McAfee will protect it.

Did an online search for Verizon internet troubleshooting phone number.  Got this number thinking it was a Verizong tech.  Gave him access to my home computer for 10 minutes.  Conferenced a call into my spouse who refused to have him do anything to the computer.  After hanging up, I turned my computer off .  My spouse looked up the phone number online from work.  SCAM!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Spro3t I think what you did was brilliant to say the least. I rang them thinking I was getting reputable support for my daughters laptop as I lost toshibas number. What a pack of monkeys! I thought something was amiss when they asked me for$199 payment for something I found out was nothing wrong with computer. How are these people allowed to keep doing this? They should all be arrested and put in with the animals at the zoo. Maybe they would make a nice breakfast for one of the lions!

It's a scam.  I had fun by letting them access a Virtual Machine... let them show me all the horrifying errors they found.  I temporarily disconnected them from the computer reset the VM back to a prior snapshot and let them back in...  I kept doing that for about three hours before they figured out what I was doing.  I built a Gentoo VM with ratpoison (no mouse) so they could "remotely assist" my system... hilarious.  I love it when I was able to do a mirrored port of their computer... so they jumped in only to find a copy of their own computer.  Toy with them... give them fake credit card numbers starting with the number 9... just keep them on the phone for as long as possible.  Also, if you can, record the entire conversation and let them know you are recording them.

I spoke with John Carr (no way close) he is Indian and I barely understood him. Called an old customer service number for Kodak Easy Share about email problems with pictures. He moved right to my computer, put me on hold, went to access remote and got in my computer. Said I had 8 people hacked into my computer. He probably hacked my computer and put in malware. My computer barely runs now. Could fix problem $299-399 he said. This is a scam, these punks need to be arrested. Look out!

these guys went all thru both my computers ....WHAT I looked up on the internet was> "how to format an SD card"<
[  as I was having trouble w/ both my cameras ]
.when I googled THAT> "Collect For Support" popped up.   I asked 'Tushar' (The first guy's name) he said for me to select certain things on the computer that had suddenly appeared......following this he says cannot seem to fix the SD's format... you must have got some other  problem " let me first check to see if you have any problems on the computer.....
he finds a # (I mean a L O T !!! ) of foreign attachments that are so extensive that before we can possibly deal w/ the SD card we have to go all thru these foreign attachments that some outsiders have put on your computer [ mind you...this took 45 minutes to go thru and find all these invasive bugs.......which he would circle in red and have it show up on MY DESKTOP.  He would upload these "problems" on MY screen...!!!
saying that we cannot format the SD cards (the card I was having trouble with) until WE GET RID OF ALL THESE
FOREIGN INVADERs................he did mention there may be a cost in this ...."give me a few moments to transfer all this info to a higher person saying" I am only a level 4 and he is a level six and can give you a clearer analysis....I asked again about the COST saying I had at the moment very little money to spend ...."maybe he can charge you a minimum.."he says & we will give you a full 365 days FREE period if anything else appears.
He transfers me to "NICK" ( along with the "invasion stuff he has collected) who he says "is at a higher level to examine what I have detected>  a level 6  person.
I am asked to hold for a few minutes AND  (because 'it takes time to transfer all that foreign invasion 'hacking files'
he has found) ....four minutes later on comes a guy introducing himself as NICK.
To cut this monologue short...He is surprised about the terrific amount of stuff > his special level 6 "removal dept" needs to remove it ASAP to get your computer under control.... he adds that you can't get this expertise at an apple store you have and you must  take it to a microsoft store " apple does not know how to deal with this.....I ask him the cost and he says probably $800-900.....eventually he say we might be able to do it for less
>>>he wants me to sign up.....and if I don't WE here will lose some of which we just found and you will maybe only have 2 days before they completely tear down your computer and get all your bank info etc "from what I see they are only at a level 3  now and if they take it to a level 5 your computer will be done......... I .honestly say "I am so confused right now that I cannot even think straight"
he honors that and says I am taking a chance by waiting.."it is your gamble.."
I mention I have to see a client and I am already late to drive there. I get his phone # and say I will call him FIRST THING AM.      888-884-0006   His Company's name  Essex in Connecticut.        CALL HIM  (all have foreign accents -Filipino)
Say hello for me......!   MG>>>>>>>>>>go see 'em in Connecticut.

They told me for $99 they would remove illegal users, anti hacking tool, optimize & clean my problem. They said the previous number that was provided by school was a scammer representing themselves as Microsoft. I told him I thought he was the scammer because Microsoft wouldn't charge me for help with something I just purchased. Now we know who the real scammer is.
