I continue to get these messages, and although I've replied STOP and STOP ALL, they still appear. AT&T cannot block them, but my account is blocked for subscriptions, so at least, I won't be charged every month. Wish there would be a way to block these messages entirely, but the only way to do that is to cancel my text plan.

COOL Celeb is not cool. It seems they have changed names and charged my phone 9.95 a month. These were not authorized but TMobile acts like it is not their problem. What federal agency does one call in these matters?

i just had to call AT&T about the same scam.  I got a text saying that unless i declined i would be getting cool celeb gossip. of course i just deleted it.  Figured it was phishing and I don't give a you know what about cool celeb gossip.  How dare they opt me in and charge me so i have to call AT&T and cancel their product offering that i did not want?  AT&T took it off my bill for this month and last.  And, i am requesting a complimentary blocking service from AT & T.

I am bringing this to the attention of the MO State Attorney General and the MO Secretary of State as a fraudulent business practice and scam.  I want them SHUT DOWN.

Started getting these texts on my AT&T phone - coming from 251-84.  At the end of every stupid little "interesting fact" it says "For HELP call 18888906150".  We never signed up for this, but have started getting an additional $10 charge on our phones every month.  AT&T won't take care of it in store and we've been unsuccessful getting it taken care of online.  Going to try calling their customer service tomorrow.  I'd like to know how some company can just start implementing this service on our phones for $10/month, per phone, when we didn't authorize it??  Obviously reading some of these other posts it's not just limited to AT&T, but seems to be occurring on other services as well.

Recieved text message from 957-63 with "Fun Facts". I did not sign up for this service or provide my cell number for any service. Then received a text stating that BrainBuster Fun Facts has billed @ $9.99/mo. So I replied STOP. Will check it out with my phone compnay tomorrow to make sure there is nothing on my bill.

If you get text messages from 23918 or 74248 telling you to call 888-890-6150, DO NOT CALL that number.  Call your own telephone company.  You have probably been "subscribed" to a scam service that sends you these messages.  My wife's cellphone service provider said they removed that subscription and will block anything like this future. (I hope this is true.) I had to ask for a supervisor, because the customer service rep did not know what to do aside from blocking all text messages (not what we wanted at all).

Call your cell phone provider and have them cancel it. I never signed up for anything, they are spammers. Report them to the government spam website. AT&T puts a free purchase blocker on your line so you don't have to deal with these low life's anymore. The name of the complaint is complete SMS solution global

Quick update...after pulling up our detailed bill (I'm on a family plan with my brother), it turns out that they have been charging us twice each month for the past 3 months on my phone, not his. I had been getting texts from two different SMS numbers but they both had the same 888 customer service number, so I assumed it was just one bill. My brother overlooked it thinking that I had just gone over my data plan. He will go by the AT&T store tomorrow to see what he can get done.

To forward this to AT&T spam department, open the spam message and at the top, press the 'edit' button. This will open an editor...click the circle beside one of the messages and the option to forward will be at the bottom right. Press it and enter the word 'spam' in the 'To' line and hit send.

received a text message on my cell phone that stated: "One barrel of petroleum holds 42 gallons. Reply STOP to Cancel for HELP call 18888906150." I have not replied to any of these texts and want them to cease. Just called and it was to mobile support and the foreigner I spoke with said my number had been on a website that blah, blah, blah, words I didn't understand all of which were a lie. He wanted my cell number which I told him I was not comfortable giving him. He suggested I reply STOP and I said I wasn't comfortable doing that either. I will be calling AT&T first opportunity and get this ceased. This criminals should be reported to the FCC which is where my next complaint goes.

Just happened to me this morning, same company with three text messages back to back. I called AT&T and they put free blocks on all three of my cell phones.

In speaking with the customer care agent I also discovered my mother's cell phone which is also on my plan has been getting charged $9.99 a month the last two monts from one of these companies.

AT&T reversed all the charges and added the blocks for free, where I can only sign up for premium message services after I enter a pin for those services. Which of course I never would.

These companies are criminal. Do not reply to their messages. Don't wait and see if it shows up on your bill, call your customer service ASAP because you've likely already been charged.

I was also getting these texts. I called the number and after a heated discussion with the call center, was supposedly removed. I was told the call center was in East Asia - it sounded like a third party representative. My carrier easily reversed the charges and put a block in place.

Make sure to report the number to both the FCC and the FTC. It's probably also not a bad idea to contact your State's Attorney General.

THese people are terrible. I never used their service and was told that my number was registered from using something called Master QUiz that I not only never used but never even heard of. I filed a complaint with the FCC.... this is the only way that these people will be stopped. I am sure that in this economy the people working at Mobile Media, 9170 Willshire Blvd, Suite 450, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 do not need my hard earned dollars to fund their Beverly Hills Lifestyle.

Make sure you call your service provider to make sure this bogus company hasn't made you a subscriber to their service without your consent.   I called ATT Wireless after receiving 3 text messages from the same source and indeed I had (within the hour) been subscribed to a $9.99 a month service.  ATT has now blocked all mobile purchases - at no cost.

I do think the default by the wireless carrier should be to block this type of addition to a subscribers account.

ITS CALLED CRAMMING  - Covered right here on 800notes since Nov 2008   16 Ways You Can Be Phone Scammed

11."Cramming": When monthly charges pop up on your telephone bill for optional services that you never authorized such as voice mail, paging, or club membership, it's called "cramming." You may be asked to return a missed call because it?s 'Your lucky day' and you?ve won a trip to Las Vegas. When the call is made, an automated system is activated and you are unknowingly enrolled in a club or program, and the charge is placed on your phone bill. The crammer might not even need to do anything except simply pick your phone number out of the blue and place charges on your bill through your local telephone company, claiming that you agreed to purchase some services.

Look at your bill closely every month. Charges for optional services should be itemized and show the name of the company providing them and its phone number. If you did not authorize the services, call that number and insist that they be canceled and the charges removed from your bill.

Also, consider putting a third party block on your phone service. It's often free and it does not let any third party add charges to your phone bill.

I received text messages from this number. The first thing I did was call the phone company and had them put a block on my lines so I can't get charged for anything like that again. Then I called the texting company and told them they charged my bill without my consent and they had the nerve to tell me that one of my friends must have signed me up! At my age, my friends have better things to do that sign me up for stupid crap! I made them send me a refund check because I know it wasn't the phone company's fault. Its been over a month and I still haven't received a check. Just called them back and they said that the request was being processed they were going to make sure it was sent out soon. I'm sure they have a back log of checks due since they are obviously signing people up out of nowhere! This company is a total scam and something needs to be done about them!!!!

Call them or text back STOP or they'll keep sending you messages. Regardless, they will most likely charge you $9.99 for the first month but go through your wireless provider to obtain a refund. I have Verizon and they put a block on my phone so I won't be receiving spam like this in the future. Also, file a complaint with the FCC (http://www.fcc.gov/complaints) Form 1088G. It takes about 5 minutes but it's the only way to make spammers stop what they're doing. The name of the company sending the IQ Power Trivia Alerts is called Mobile Media, 9170 Willshire Blvd, Suite 450, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Good luck!

I have called Verizon Wireless to put a block on this line. It seems as though the initial message welcomes the receiver to be a part of a Trivia Alert. If you then respond by doing as they ask to STOP these messages, it does,it seems, in fact prompt them to start charging you.....
All you can do is contact your carrier to block the # & take the charges off your bill
