I love how easy you think it is to get a job. I was unemployed for a year before I got the job I have now because there were very few jobs in my area and I didn't have a lot of experience because jobs have always been hard to come by in the area I live in. I wasn't sitting on my couch eating potato chips- I was actively searching for a job. Maybe you shouldn't judge people when you don't know or understand their circumstances.

I finally called this number back. They are a company called Gatestone. The woman I spoke to was pleasant, but the result was annoying... I am not in their system. Must be a wrong number she said and she said she would remove it from the system...

I never understand why it is that people always have alot to say about companies and how they are illegal and the bills are fake...the bills are very real and Banks wouldn't hire illegal companies to collect their debts. There are laws in place as well. But because these laws exist doesn't give people the right to run away from their obligations which most do. There are a lot of people that legitimately can't pay and that's unfortunate but then there are those people, alot of them usually on this blog, that just are lazy and don't work and then just stop paying bills and then come here and criticize people who call them and tell them to pay their bills. Most of the time people come on here to rant about things that would of never happened if they just got up off the couch eating your potato chips and found a job and paid your bills. They come on here pretending they know all the laws and start telling poeple "do this and do that" so that they can be the same dishounorable people as themselves and think they are very clever. If they only used that energy to actually do something positive they wouldn't be in this position. -- AND AGAIN I STRESS I"M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE ILL OR HAD A LEGITIMATE CIRCUMSTANCE AS TO WHY THEY ARE IN THIS POSITION.

That's because the do not call list applies to people who get calls from telemarketers not for debtors who are getting calls from creditors to pay their bills.

He is criticizing people about doing their jobs first off. When you owe you're going to have to expect people to call you about your debts and try to discuss them. And being an hounorable person you will discuss instead of saying that they think you're the only one with a debt and trying to be funny on a blog  instead of actually dealing with the issue at hand.

They have to prove that the debt is valid, in writing.  

And just like every other shill, they blame the victim:

Sounds like scumbags looking to scare you into giving up your hard-earned money. Don't pick up! Any legit outfit would leave a proper message where you can call back and speak to a reasonable person. Better yet, call CIBC direct and ask them why they are calling you.

PS. The amount of nuisance calls I receive daily has tripled since I signed up for the Do Not Call List a few years ago. Thank you Govt of Cananda for multiplying the problem.

this company has been calling my home daily for over 5 years now - the calls are harassing, stressful and really pissing me off. I don't owe anyone any money. I have no bank loans. I don't use CIBC. I pay my credit card off every month. I don't know why they keep calling my number. I have asked over and over for them to stop. They call before 7 am and after 10 pm but now, instead of a real person, it's a harassing computer generated person saying 'hello, this is Mr. so and so, I am the manager and have left many messages at this number which have not been returned'. Well, first of all, when I check the number, it's always Collectcorp, secondly, I don't owe money, thirdly, I don't respond to computer generated messages and my answering machine doesn't pick them up because there's too much hesitation between the phone being answered and the message starting. I've found their profile online and everytime I get a message, I send them one (all in capitals with much punctuation) asking them to please refrain from calling my number and if they don't start soon, I'll have to seek legal representation. I don't owe anyone any money and if this were to go to court, it would probably turn out that CollectCorp will owe me money for the harassment.

Formerly Collectcorp  They keep calling but i have no debt they said my name but got my middle name wrong and i told them you have the wrong person but they just keep calling.

I got a call from these "machines" with some stupid message for weeks. Them one night around 8ish a human called. Were calling on behalf of CIBC about your CC. So, am I the only one with none payments. As if they don't owe money themselves. So,on that note they wanted me to give them money right away "like thats was ever gona happen." They can take me to the higest court the judge will throw it out. Nonsense, don't be scared if u aint got the money, u just aint got it.

I've just spoken to someone at 888-891-6691 he said that he is call from the CIBC Bank about a outstanding balance from credit card debt but I don't have card. They call at lest ones a day and haft the time they don't say one word when you answer the phone, your going to have watch your credit report cause do fraud

I have received a call almost every day from 888-891-6691 leaving messages asking for a name that doesn't even make sense. The name sounds like emarjesseetee hrm (literally sounds like the computer voice is trying to pronounce random letters). It was annoying as it was, but today I got a call with what sounded like a very annoyed and rude man stating his company had called and left SEVERAL messages and that I refused to return the calls... So I called the number, and told them that they were to stop calling me and I had no idea who they were looking for. The girl said it was for "Jesse", and I don't even know anyone with that name. They said they would take my number off but we will see...

My mistake, this is CollectCorp, collection agency who serves many credit card companies including Visa, Mastercard and Amex. They can quickly turn into a**holes.

I have rec'vd several of these calls from this number on my work cell phone and they do not pick up or disconnect. Plse have this 888 number deactivated!

the "actual human" was still a recording. just call back during business hours, hit 0 when prompted, and ask someone to remove the #. if you got dead air it is most likely because no one was in the office.

1888-891-6691 started calling about 2 months ago.  If answered a recorded voice asks to speak to a person that does not exist at my number.  Today an actual human called, saying they had been given authorizatio by a Mr Masterroni? to handle "the matter".  I actually called the 1888 number back and was given option #1 = dial the extension of the person who called, which wasn't left on their message, dial #0 if any other matter.  When you dial "0" ... dead air on the phone.  I honestly don't know what to make of this.  To date I have been letting them leave a message, fast forwarding and erasing the messages.  Any ideas would be appreciated!  R they for real?

These people keep calling my # for someone who lives elsewhere in the building?not at this Apt or phone #. They refuse to believe they have the wrong #. If they had half a brain, they'd do a search of her name and a search of my #... then they would see they are calling the WRONG # !!!

I got callimng recently. I don't owe anybody anything, my bills are all paid and yet they keep calling.
Even they didn't say who they want to talk to? They never give a name or anything.
