Watch out for this company "Stone Whitman in Associates, they are supposedly in Orlando FL.  However this company isn't registered with the state of Florida, they are scammers who steal information. And send out FAKE letters saying you owe debt.  Do not pay them a cent!

They actually called and sent me a letter. Said I owed fees to a debt consolidation company I hired years ago called. Innovative wealth builders. I researched both companies.wealth builders is out of buisness and is involved in several law suits and has a f rating with the BBB so does stone-whitman. Both companies are In the same town. Im guessing they are in cahoots together. I called them back and informed them of all I had found and that I had retained a lawyer. They hung up on me.

I just got off the phone with a Joshua Allen from Stone, Whitman and A**. #888-382-2474. Says that they have a claim against me for $341.77 due from Bank Enterprises. He had all kinds of info about me. Says if I didn't pay I would be reported to the credit agencies, get lawyer fees, and end up paying a lot more.  The caller id # was 800-624-0402.  I told him I would get back to him tomorrow. He told me it a he'd put a 24 hour stay on this, but it  was very important that I get back to him or proceedings would start.

Jennifer called from Stone Whitman & Associates. She stated that the phone call was in regards to a dispute regarding legal documents. I heard conversations in the background. It sounded to be that the people where having conversations with other people. There was never a response to the voices that I heard in the background. Who is paying these people to harass other people?

If you want all this to stop. Harassing phone calls and personal information put out there. Sorry it will not. At one time you owed somebody something. They will resell your debt over and over again. Way pass the statute of limitation. There going to try and scare you in to paying. They will not and never will take you to court. As a matter of fact they can't. . FTCPA look it up. This is good info to have. Check the statute of limitation for your state. If you were going to court. don't you think you would already be there..duh.....

We have received two calls this year,October and now in december, trying to act professional but they are not.  He claims to be aJason Richardson from  Stone Whitman and associates, using the phone number 347-974-1514.  Trying to say I had a previous debt, which I have none, we didn't tolerate their B.S. for one minute.  We waited for them to call back, and we let them have it, We finally hung up and that's it.   WARNING  !!!!  Do not listen to these people they are cold blooded scammers.  Seeking out senior citizens.

The most expensive advise is free advise. Statue of limitations does not determine if a collection agency can sue you. As anyone should know, you can sue anyone for anything these days. Statue of limitations only diminishes an agencies chance of winning a law suit. If an agency actually decides to take someone to court, they're really only counting on the high chance that the defendant will not show up and receive a default judgement on the case. For all of you who still don't understand what I'm saying... If you don't show up to court, they win automatically.

I was called by them repeatedly in early November. They told me I owed $600 and change for a old Sprint bill.  I actually didn't remember it at the time, but my wife who is luckily a pack rat kept the bill.  Problem is i didn't have this at the time of the call.  Of course i denied the debt and bitched out the Indian lady on the phone.  After that I didn't get a call.  What i did get in Christmas was a letter from their company lawyer letting me know they were going to see me in court.   I obtained a lawyer, and three months later, I'm paying a settlement of over 2k.  My wife reminds me every day now I could have just paid their first settlement option of $345.  I'm sorry to burst your bubble people but these people are protected by the law...even though they are freaking scumbags..

If you have old debts, collectors may not be able to sue you to collect on them. That's because debt collectors have a limited number of years ? known as the statute of limitations ? to sue you to collect. After that, your unpaid debts are considered "time-barred." According to the law, a debt collector cannot sue you for not paying a debt that's time-barred. He can continue to call, but if you write and demand they stop, by law, they must. Check your states statute of limitations on credit card debt. If it is past that, usually 3-6 years,...don't negotiate with them. If you promise to pay, or even make one payment, then the clock starts ticking again and you owe them just like it was yesterday.

I too rec'd a call from this Stone Whitman & assoc on my cell phone asking if I would be home between the hours of 12-2 the next day because they had some legal documents to deliver to me.  After I began to question them they said they didn't have anymore information but I could call this W&Assoc for more info at 877 760-7072 with file #. Now, after reading the comments I refuse to call them back. "Ain't nobody got time for that"..

The guy who called, wanted my wife to return a call to 1-888-964-0811 and gave me a case number.  But, I said, unless you tell me the nature of the business, she is unlikely to call back.  At that point, he became agitated and hung up.  I first accused him of being a debt collector because apparently there is a person whose name is similar to my wife's who has unpaid debt, and my wife has been bothered by such calls for years.  He denied being a debt collector.  He is probably is just a front man and not officially a debt collector.  He just works for one.  What a nuisance.  I don't think I can block calls from this number.  Haven't figured it out, if I can.  But, they are using different phone numbers.  Just a PITA!

I was called from 1-888-964-0811 and was told there was a civil action against me and that if I didn't accept a payment agreement to clear a debt I'd be served with papers to appear in court.  The caller asked for the last  four digits of my SS.  While talking to the caller, I knew I'd paid off this debt to which was being referenced.  I agreed to a payment because I didn't want to be taken to court, but have since found the documentation proving I paid the credit card off in 2012.  I'm glad I looked up this company and found all same type complaints.  I just hate that I gave out so much info.

I got the same call. Just so you know, nobody ever calls people before serving them. I pulled up this page while I had "Civil Procedures" on the phone and told her what I was looking at and asked her not to call me back and she said they would not. Wow! These people had the nerve to call my apartment complex!

This awful person states they are from Civil Processing and says they need to know if a certian person is available the next day to receive documents from Stone Whitman for a lawsuit -- that it appears to be a summons. Very freaky. Very unusual process. Very intimidating and seems fraudulent.

Just got off the phone with the sheriff's office. There is no summons coming my way, and I did report the details. I don't think this is an ID theft scam, but DO NOT give these crooks any info! I really think that it's one of those strong arm companies that buy old debt, and scare people into paying on it. Know the statutes of limitations of your state when it comes to debt. If you make contact with these A-holes don't be afraid to tell them to jam it. Ideally, if it doesn't come up on caller-ID, let it go to voice mail. I'm sure they scam 80 year old widows out of millions a year. Don't be a victim.

Notify your bank, credit card company. etc and keep an eye on your credit report.  I'm not sure if it is possible but, you may want to contact the credit bureaus to see if they can put an alert on your information.

Received a call from 786 364 3160, identified as Bk Agencie on my phone. He said he had some legal papers for someone with the same last name to deliver to my home address tomorrow, which he had. I said no one lived here by that name, but that I wanted to know why we occasionally received calls for this person. He gave said an organization called Stone Whitman had given him a sealed envelop to deliver, and he couldn't look inside. He referred me to 1-888-964-0811 and gave me a case number. A woman named Rebecca answered and said my phone number would be removed from that file, but she refused to tell me what sort of business she was representing. What government agencies police this sort of thing? My state attorney general? The Federal Communications Commission?
