Murfreesboro, TN is one of State Farms claims locations.  If they call you it's either b/c you have an existing claim or they have the wrong number.  Having to know your name really is necessary due to the ridiculous privacy issues.  Either they get your name or they can lose their job....not really a big deal now is it.

I received a similar call.  I have no claim pending with State Farm and have not been in any accidents that would form the basis for someone else to make a claim against me.  It sounds like a phishing scam to me.  I have not returned the call.  I figure if there is any legitimacy to it, they will contact me in writing, not by a phone message.  I have a local agent who is able to deal with any claims directly with me.  I see no point in responding to the message.

Called and woke me up but i did not answer. No name given on the ID and that is why i didn't answer it in the first place. If this is a true business then they would not have blocked their business name. Just said toll free number and the phone number.

I work for SF and the reason we have you confirm things such as your name and/or address is to confirm that you are in fact one of the parties listed in the claim.  We have a lot of personal information listed and do not want to release any of it to someone that has nothing to do with the claim.  (Would you want your personal information released to a stranger... I think not.)  We ask those questions only for your sercurity and privacy.  A lot of times, customers do not update their current phone numbers which leads us to calling the number we have listed and reaching someone that was not involved in an accident.  If we do call you and we have the wrong number, please call back and let us know.  All you have to say is that you received a call from our number and that you believe it is the wrong number.  With that, we will take the number out of the claim and you won't receive anymore calls.

Hi, again. LoL All right. Looked up Murfreesboro, and apparently the same SF is one of the top divisions there, according to Wikipedia (even though that site, itself, isn't all that up to par for some topics):

Oh, and I'd just redialed from my home phone this time to re-check the name of the division they'd said, and it sounded like "Murficeboro," but when I'd Google'ed that, I got "Murfreesboro" instead, which is in Tennessee, apparently. Is that area pronounced like "Murfrisburo" or something, since that's how it sounded like from the auto-voice answerer. I suppose I'd thought I'd just heard Kentucky, don't know.

But whatever. Better still be legit either way.

Event Reminder
They'd called at 9:35 am on Nov 6th, and did leave a voice message. Said it was from State Farm and inquiring about an auto claim and gave the claim number in the message, and then to call back and use the extension "30" so that someone from there could assist.

I normally never answer numbers I do not know (which I hadn't when they'd called, hence the voice message), and definitely never call back (unless they repeatedly call for months on end, and then I'm forced to tell them off and ask for the harassment to stop), but since the message was left I called back for the sole purpose to ask that they do NOT call again since I've no business with this.

After they'd asked for the claim number left they'd asked for my name which I did not wish to leave but they'd stated they needed it to be sure I wasn't the person who'd filed the claim, so I'd made up a first name but unfortunately was too sleepy at the time to think to be more of my normally paranoid self and make up a fake last name as well. (Hope that was all right. My sister believes I am, so hopefully she's right.)

Anyhow, in the end they said they were looking for a "Susanne Corville" (spelling?) and they'd remove my number from the list. I just want to know why they'd call my cellphone number instead of calling this woman's house number, even if once upon a time she'd had my cellphone number.

Not really familiar with State Farm, but the second lady who'd answered (since I had to call back with the claim number left in the message and so hung up with some first lady who'd picked up) said that they call whatever number and are all over the world (since the auto-voice answerer when I'd first called said something about Kentucky -- I'd called again later this evening and I'm assuming they're closed since it was a different message of the business hours but with no mention of Kentucky), which is fine, but still.

And was knowing my name honestly that necessary, as well?

They'd BETTER have been legit, number one, and number two, have taken my number off for real. At least I'd saved the voice message, claim number and the woman's name who'd apparently left said claim in the first place. Oh, and saved this number just in case.

Hope others who've gotten calls from this number got the same message (that it's from State Farm), or if someone bothers to call now it'll say the same message of business hours and if you know the extension or claim number to press 1 or 2 or stay on the line for help or something like I got a bit ago and this morning.

Hope this info helps!
