I've just started receiving calls from these people on my cell phone (a number which I do not give out).

The message they leave is approximately "This is an important business call from Credit Management.  Please call Mr. Phelps at 888-900-4383."  (sounds so Mission Impossible, doesn't it?)

The phone number they called from, 972-862-4435, is in Carrollton, TX.  A bit of web searching turns up "Credit Management, LP" aka "The CMI Group", 4200 International Parkway, Carrollton, TX 75007.

And no, I don't have any delinquent debt.

This number calls ever couple of days and says "by listening to this message your are acknoweding that you are ___ ___" and then list the name of the person who apparently had this cell phone number prior to my son. It's aggrevating, to say the least. BLOCK THIS NUMBER!

Daily, sometimes multiple times, a voice mail message is left stating call Mr. Phelps at 1-888-900-4383.  The same name is used with phone number 1-800-377-7789.

These calls are very annoying, and I have no intentions of phoning either of the numbers, as I have no idea what it is all about.

We have received two calls recently from that number and it has nothing to do with us.  Obviously these are people trying to scam and take advantage of anyone they can.  Wish there was a way to find where these folks are and arrest them because what they are doing is wrong, wrong wrong!

Has anyone been able to stop these calls?

When I call back the 900 #, no answer most of the time, others collecting for a co I know nothing about, so I just tell them to stop calling, but this is not helping

I get this call all the time, it sounds like a pile of bull.  I'm curious, I had never received any calls like this with my previous service provider, about two months ago I switched,  I was wondering if it is in someway service provider specific. any ideas?

On a DAILY basis we are getting calls from a "Mr. Phelps" office asking us to call back at 1-888-900-4383 or 1-800-377-7789.  It is too crazy and when we call back it is always a different collection agency.  DON'T ANSWER OR CALL!!!

Yeah, I got the same call on my VM. The message said: "... Please disconnect if you are .  Please continue to listen to this message.  (3 seconds pause)   By continuing to listen to this message, you are acknowledging that you are (debtor's name).   This is a message from Credit Management, a professional collection agency.  Please contact Mr. Phelps regarding an important business matter at 888-900-4383.  That number again is  888-900-4383. Sounded too fishy. Anything we can do about this?

An elderly friend of mine has been getting calls (for months) from a "Mr. Phelps" from a "collection agency".  She finally called the number back and they said that she is delinquent to a company called Breyer House.  She has never heard of this company and is not in debt to anyone.  Mr. Phelps insisted she give him the last four digits of her SS# and thankfully she refused.  Has anyone else heard of this scam artist before??  Tell your elderly relatives and friends to NEVER give out any part of their SS# or any other personal information over the phone!!
