get 2 or calls a day from this number. cname unknown. I don't answer.

Hey, I feel lucky. She told I had 2 hours to call back rather than 1. Bi*** must a been giving me a break or sumfin.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Just got a call from a Preston Lucas.  The number he called from was 888-901-4887, but he left a message for me to return the call within an hour to 855-829-4002.  They threatened to serve me papers and were coming to my home or my job (which I do not have a job).  Very intimidating.  How do we stop these people from harrasing good citizens?

They are a bunch of crooks. They cant get real jobs so they try to scam honest working people. At least these ones have american accents. they have the ones with indian accents too. I like to play with them, especially when i am in a bad mood. I tell them i will send the money and to call me back. when they call me back i act like someone else....and make them go through the entire schpiel again, or i become indian too...or british (whatever mood i am in). Wanna mess with me?! I am the messer! You are the messee!!! Ha Ha!!! Lmao!

I received a call and my mother as well, she is pi**ed and wants to file charges against these people for making false accusations and threats. I do not know who they are but they need to be stopped, can anything be done about these people or not?

Received a call at work and a voice mail (they called my mother as well). I had one hour to contact them or they were going to serve papers for a fraud charge. I called the call back number 855-870-5983 and spoke to Conner Shaw and he was rude. He said that I took out a payday loan ($200) and didn't pay it back, so they were going to take me to court. When I asked for the contact information on this loan company he told me that they don't want to talk to me, they already got their money, they just want to go to court. If I settled things with them then I didn't have to go to court and have fees added on. That makes no sense. If they got their money why are they going to serve me papers and take me to court?
I don't know where to begin with this mess. If it's a real personal matter why disclose the information over the phone to someone if you cannot verify who they are? The 'process server' didn't ask who I was she just started talking about fraud and legal actions and coming to my job to pick me up with the police. Why would a company pay court and legal fees for a $200 loan? Isn't that a true waste of money and time? 'Conner' said

I get the same call everyday from Miss Williams, and many other people including James Bennet and some others. Have these people ever showed up at work or a place of employment???

Call early in the morning....left from answering machine a lot of threats...Its a voice of a woman....This is SCAM...!!!

The lady who call me her name is Shannon Miles and states im being summon for court and she used my married name, and i havent applied for anything in my married name. she says i have 24-48 hours to contact her or the client, and when i called the number it's not in service.. she called from one number and left another one for the client...how can they be stopped?

Threatened to come on my job and serve me with papers.

I Got the same call about 20-30minutes ago and these people say the have legal documents they will serve to my house or my place of employment. I am Disabled and do not even work. And yes it did sound mumbles the name I could hardley understand and they have been changing numbers and I have been harrased by these people I asked them a while back to take me off there list that I am not in ANY legal trouble, the first time I called a Black lady answered the phone saying she was miss williams when I told her they where SCAMS she hung up on me. I called back a second time and another girl answered the phone saying she was me using my name. THIS IS WRONG AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO STOP IT! How can this be stopped or file charges against them?

Just received the call someone looking for a Richard Raymond, not me, and I've gotten this call numerous of times, I asked the lady who called if she could stop calling and she hung up on me. I tried to dial the number back and go a number is not in service. Beware!

mrb now they are saying the number is not in service!! big scam and someone shut them down!?

Told them I would meet them on the Courthouse Steps with my Attorney after he files a complaint against them.

I got this call today from Melissa Jefferies (evidently she keeps her first name and then changes the last according to the previous posts).  She stated I had 1 hour to call this other number.  For some reason, it keeps trailing back to a payday loan over 7 years ago????  It was paid in full, minues their stated extra interest charges, which I am not paying.  Anyone else having trouble with this number?  Is it a scam?  Can't get anyone to answer the phone when I call the number she gave me, and at her return number, states it is not a working number?  Thanks for any help.

Sick and Tired

They called trying to say it was my husbands brother and they were a processor and he needed money or would facwe criminal charges... I TOLD HER TO BITE ME S=AND SHE STARTED SWAERING I HUNG UP...Called back no service for this number -they try to intimidate you with her blackwoman attitude voice!  mean voice like shes from the hood or somethging-I should be scared?  I would eat her for breakfast and spit her out!  I dont get scared i get mad!  How did they know my husbands brother name?   Theres more to this and Im not taking IT!!!!!!  I put a tracer on the call.  IDK Ill pay for the trace and called the police!  Anyone else call the polce!

Recived a call , with threats, you have been warned. No idea who they are. Called back the # and it states number is not in service. Empty threats, They leave a different number to call them back at and do not answer with a company name.

Got the same call, when you call back the number states it is not in service. SCAM!
