received several calls soliciting a subscription to a credit card terminal for my business
they had all the information i supplied to the local tax collectors office to secure a business permit
including name address phone # and type of business. when i asked how they got it they
said it was on a list supplied by the local county business office  I too am on the national
don't call list       makes you wonder doesn't it

Thank you for all the information. I got silent calls from this number, too. I waited for a few seconds, it was silent, and a second after I said hello, they hang up. This happened several times. I am really annoyed by their "silent calls." I filed a complaint with FCC as Don suggested above. If you call back this number and press zero from the options they give you, you get to talk to a person. I asked the woman who answered not to call my number since it is listed in the national Do-Not-Call list.

They've called 3 times since 9am... it's 11:30am.  UGH!  I answer, they just say HELLO.  I hang up.  Not picking up again.

Thanks, Don. I should have read your post first. There is a fine for each call if they are considered harassing calls and the FTC adjudicates in favor of consumer. Thanks for the link.

Gene, check out FTC site for harassing calls. Your caller ID and memory should record the # of calls you receive. Each call could be worth a nice nest egg when you add them up.

Never, ever, ever respond to 800 series numbers unless you know you owe money to some entity. I ignore them, never answer them. Let them call all they want. Caller ID is what you need, comes with new phones, no need to pay phone company for that.

Follow this link to the FCC and File a complaint.  If you are on the National Do-Not-Call List, they are not suppose to call.  According to the FCC once your numbers are on that list, they never have to be renewed.  Here is the link, http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

Constant calls from this number, no one is on the line.  How do we make these stop???

They have been interupting my daily work for over 3 weeks and I finally got my fill of it.  As many have mentioned, when I answer, there's only silence on the line.  Then it hangs up.

As MH replied, it IS a credit card processing company called BMS.  I called them and there was a menu to select from.  Customer service is 3.  I told them to take my phone number off thier list.  Apparently, they use caller ID also and the man asked me if it was the number I was calling from.  I told him yes and then said if I recieve one more call from them, I will pursue charges.  We'll see.

I receive calls from this number daily, sometimes multiple times a day. They just hang up when I answer. Thanks for wasting my time, making me stop everything I'm doing to walk over and answer the phone for this nonsense!

This is a credit card services company trying to get businesses/retailers to use them for the processing of their Visa/MasterCard/AMEX/Discover cards.  I just called them back, pressed 1 for English, 3 for Customer Service and told them to stop calling my work.

just got a call from this number I picked up they laughed like crazy. freaky.

Just got a call from this number.  When I picked up, the voice on the other end said "Gonna pick you up and sling you."  So... that happened.

I answered and an old lady said hello, I said hello then she hang up.
