received a call saying they were running a routine security check. called my credit union first and they said that it sounded like a fishing expedition. they checked my account and there were no alerts or holds. i also checked all of my transactions and pending transactions, nothing there that i didn't put through. my bank gave me the number that would call me if they found suspicious activity. this wasn't it.

THIS IS A SCAM! JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH MY BANK, AFTER GETTING A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER THIS MORNING!
Salvatore 2014-04-15 23:13:22 Unknown
It's legit. I got a call about suspicious activity on my card. Rather than calling the number back I called my Credit Union. They verified that they use this company and lo-and-behold... .there was a fraudulent charge on my card for $211.

I confirmed with my bank that they are an actual 3rd party company that monitors their Visa cards. They called me on a Sunday morning, left a voicemail on both my cell and work phones regarding a "routine security check" on my Visa debit card. I'm very suspicious about calling anyone back like that because I've already had severe identity theft that has taken 8 years to rectify (seriously), I've never received a "routine security check" call in the many years I've been banking with them, and reverse-number lookup comments are so mixed. I checked my bank account and sure enough, there was a fraudulent high-dollar charge from a Home Depot in another city. Of course my bank is closed Sundays, so I waited until Monday morning to call them, where they did confirm that it is a legitimate company. Now I know, but it would be nice to have been aware of this 3rd party company beforehand so I wouldn't have to be so suspicious. You can't trust anybody these days.

We have caller ID and don't answer 800 calls. Usually they are someone soliciting business which I believe is against the law. if registered on the "no call list" 800 calls seem to becoming more frequent which is not good news.

Received call from" PenFed Fraud Dept" regarding possible misuse of credit card. Claimed a charge of $1.47 to a hotel in Virginia which is 3000 miles away.Woman was very courteous and was in possession of information regarding other purchases on the card. Was advised to stop any further purchases on the card and that new cards would be issued immediately and sent within 10 days.

This is a legitimate company calling on behalf of Visa to review possible fradulent charges on the credit card issued by Hughes Federal Credit Union in Tucson. They asked for my phone number and name only. I don't have a credit card with Hughes FCU and they said my name did not match who they had on file for that number. They were happy I called and said they would note in their file that the phone number is incorrect.

I did not get a call, but I did get a letter with this telephone number in it. I did not call the number because the letter looked suspicious. It had the wrong mailing address on the letter; I know this because I work for the credit union that I have my credit card from. So I called my supervisor, and faxed her the letter. Just waiting now to see if she got it. Not comfortable with it at all.

This call is valid! It was a company calling regarding my debit card. They listed a bunch of crazy charges that were declined from overseas. They closed the card and my credit union is issuing a new card. if you see a call from this number consider answering immediately. They also left a message on my voicemail.

This is a lagit company. I double checked with my credit union. The person at Falcon spoke to me in a clear and concise manner. Very professional.

Received a voice mail message. Could not understand most of information including the return telephone number. I called the local number from caller ID. It was PSCU financial services. They wanted my CC number which I didn't understand the caller on the message, then they wanted my SS number and I refused. I called GTE Financial security and ended up being transferred to PSCU . I had six entries as pending all made that day which were fraud. The card was closed with a new card to be mailed. Thanks PSCU for being on top of it.

Yes! This number 888-913-7313 is LEGIT! They called my husband's cell and left him a message that his cc may have been compromised. He had done some shopping at Target before and after Christmas and we think that is how it was hacked. They instructed us to call the number on the back of his cc and his credit union is rectifying the situation as I type this. None of the money that the hacker tried to get out was paid, his card had been declined every time the hacker tried to use it in other states and in our vicinity. It totaled over $1,000 for all the purchases they tried to make with his card! Thank goodness there are some great customer service people with his credit union! Falcon Security is legit and they're on top of their game! Thank You!

They call me at my mothers house something about a credit card. They also gave my sister 1 case number. Everything I have is update and I don't use that phone.

I got a call from this number, they left a voice mail saying there was "strange activity" on my account. The voice mail gave a different callback number (877-500-7697). When I called, they asked for my name, last 4 of SS#, and mailing address. I refused to give this information. They told me to call my bank to verify the call was legit. They gave me a 1-800 number that was suppose to be for my bank. However, I called the local number to my bank and asked if the call was legit. I gave them the 800 number I was given ..... turns out the number given was ALMOST exactly right, except one number was different. My bank advised to not call them back and to not tell anyone anything was a similar request. she checked my account and there was no "tag" to the account, therefore the call was a FAKE and was fishing for information.

Received a call from this number and let it go to voicemail. They said they were calling on behalf of my CU and they named the CU, provided a case number for reference, and asked that I call back to verify possible fraudulent activity on my debit card. I called back. Provided my first and last name, case number, and month and year of birth. She then verified several suspect transactions with me. She read me the date, transaction amount, and who it was for. I said yes or no to it being a valid transaction. They were all valid and were in various cities within the last few days as we were traveling. I can see why they'd seem suspect and am VERY glad that they called to confirm. This was not a scam. I did not provide PII info to them and they had information from my banking history from the last few days. If they call from a CU that you use, you may want to call them back.

I got a call from this number yesterday morning. They left a message saying they wanted to verify some charges on my debit card. Thought it was a scam, but I checked my bank account to see if anything was wrong and there were several charges that were not made by me. So I called them back and they froze my account for me. They did not ask me for my account number or SS# or anything. Just talked to the bank to fix the rest of the problem. Glad they called.

Someone called and left a message for my daughter who is a college student. Of course I was very concerned that her credit may be affected. The rep was very hard to understand and got very testy when I asked her questions because I did not want to give her my phone number, last 4 digits of my social and birthdate...to "verify" who I was. I called my credit union this morning and they never heard of PSCU (I looked up the number and PSCU online - very vague) and have had many callers with the same concern. NEVER give private information to ANYONE over the phone you do not know, it's that simple. Anyone can spend all day doing whatever it takes to get someones information. Called 888-918-7313 again to ask some questions and again, a very testy rep.

It is a fraud alert from your Credit Union. I just received 3 calls (one at home, 2 at my office) to which my Visa credit (not debit) card had been used in Buffalo, NY (I live on the other side of the country) in excess of $350. I haven't even used this credit card in months. They never asked anything except went over some of the last charges on the account. They confirmed my address so that new cards would be sent out. They also said I would be receiving an affidavit in the mail and to return it promptly. They did not allow the charge to go through, and have notified that it was a fraudulent charge. I contacted my credit union and they verified the phone call, and also verified that my card is now closed due to fraudulent activity. I am thankful that this occurred...people, be very vigilant in who you give your c/c numbers to. There are scammers everywhere...they spend more time figuring out how to scam people out of their money than to go out and make their own.

I received a message from them because I had been using my old cards security code. They just wanted to make sure that I was the one trying to unsuccessfully use my card and not someone else. I did however look up the company name on my credit unions website before I called to make sure it was legit.

Called my CU after receiving a call from this number early in the morning on a Saturday . Turns out its legit . Didn't think its was cause of the day , time and accent of the caller but it was .
Thomas in Duluth 2013-10-06 17:44:11 Unknown
Not a Scam: The call I received knew all my last 5 charges, but when they asked for an address I balked, so I called my credit card security using the number on my card, and they said it was legit and a hold was already on my account . So I cancelled my own card. The odd thing is the amount charged in a city 300 miles away was only $2.30 in a motel? Seems an odd amount to steal? But I cancelled my card through the number on the back of the card and not through the caller's number, but they transferred me to the same people who had called me.

I got a letter saying there was some activity on my credit card that they had questions about, asking me to call 888-918-7313. I did some Internet checking before calling, including this site, and decided they were legitimate. They asked about some recent purchases on my card; they all were legitimate and I'm surprised they triggered anything, but I'm glad they do check.
Dan 2013-08-22 13:42:14 Unknown
They're legitimate, but I would never give out anyone who just calls me out of the blue information about my account. However, when they've called me, it is to ask whether or not I have made specific charges that they already know about. All I have done is confirm I did or did not make the charges. Usually they have been legit but three times in 10 years they haven't been. Anyone calling from a service like this shouldn't need your name, address, or account number - they should already have it, and they should have specific transactions they are asking about.

888-918-7313 called to warn of fraudulent activity on my bank Visa card - they left case# but the lady's voice was garbled and sounded suspicious - I called my own 800# for card services, and the 888# people were legit!!! they caught a 'phishing' use of my card in Australia to buy sports clothes - totally not my use of credit card!! so I was happy they caught it and shut down my card. But as others on this site have said, don't trust anyone!! call your card's own 800# for card member services and then you known you have legit number and they will transfer you through to security.
thanks for saving my butt!!!
