Hi I am with East link and I get a call from this # every day I don't answer it and they don't leave a message I did answer it once it was dead air but they keep calling every day I wish I could get them to stop does blocking the # work because I think I might call East Link to see if I can

I got a call from that number today and I am with Eastlink not Bell. I didn't answer it. If anyone does get calls from this number do what my dad use to do...blow a referee's whistle as loud as you can into the phone. He stopped getting harassing phone calls after he started to do this. Genius!

Yeah tried that and they call back even more. Every half hour actually until I just didn't pick up. Then it went back to one a day. They apparently want to SELL you a pair of FREE tickets on some cruise line. Call them back it's funny. They will tell you how long it takes to get on the do not call list.

I've started a new campaign....Only really works if you have caller ID. These companies don't pay anything if no one picks up but they HAVE to pay for calls that are using long distance time. I answer the phone but do NOT say "Hello", in fact I don't say ANYTHING!!. ("Saying "Hello" triggers their computer to click on an annoying call center!!) After about 30 seconds, it disconnects, but it has used 30 seconds of THEIR long distance time without receiving any money for whatever they're selling. If we all did this, they would be paying out a LOT in long distance fees. If I have so free time on my hands, I will engage the person on the other end for as long as I want and then say something like...."Oh MY GOD, my dog just threw up all over my supper...(dinner)...(lunch). Gotta go!!" This only works if you can resist ALL of their sales pressures!!!!
Good Luck

I just called them and found out they are Bell Aliant phoning with their security thing, offering a free home consultation. I think its something like $50 a month or something like that. They probably have different packages starting with a rinky dink dart gun all the way up to the full security package with keypad/code etc. If you take the consultation, by the time they are finished scaring you with potential scenarios, they will probably be able to sell you their full, most expensive package.

It just dawned on me that since I switched to Bell Aliant from Eastlink my nuisance calls have multiplied greatly. I think they might be selling our phone numbers. They call from this number and never leave a message. Of course I don't answer calls that look like they will be a nuisance but that's not the point. Eastlink has a block calls list where you can add 12 phone numbers that you don't want to call you. I called Bell to see if they have the same and they only offer it in Nova Scotia. They said we WON'T be getting that option in PEI, ever. I have to say that is reason enough there to switch back to Eastlink. In the meantime I am going to do my own little fix. Someone on one of these forums said they got a whistle and they blow it into the phone whenever they get one of these calls. I went to Dollarama and bought a $1.50 recorder. If you separate the two pieces, and blow into the mouthpiece it gives the shrillest, loudest whistle you could ever imagine. That's my plan for now. It may not stop the calls but it will give me GREAT satisfaction. If that doesn't work I plan to download the sound of a fax machine and play it every time I get a call. Problem solved? I'll let you know!

Isn't there a "do not call" list that can be used to discourage telemarketers ?
Sybil 2014-02-26 21:34:50 Unknown
Why not just pick up the hand set and put it back down without a word. They'll get the point.

Glad I found this panel just had 3/4th call from that number with no one on the other end. If they want to sell something
for Christ sake just say something when you pick up the phone then your choice to hang up , chat with them or ask
for DNC list. My wife has Paranoid Schizophrenia and all she needs is some f****ng a***oles calling and leaving a dead line.
Bell will be getting a call from me and they better guarantee me the calls will stop as I just took on their high speed with home phone and these call started..

I'm on month to month with my phone and internet with no contract and soon to be only internet with cheap internet phone.
This is Bell calling to get you hooked on another contract like ($99.95 for the first 3 months, then $195.00 after that.)
They want you to buy cable and phone because they're losing customers left and right.
(P.S. Did you get a phonecall from someone and THEN this number seemed to call within 5-10 minutes? I think that's proof that it's your phone company....I can't wait to get internet phone so I have a weird number that no telemarketer will ever know.)

I recently made a request to have Bell FibreOp installed at my address in New Brunswick. I received two calls from this number today that were missed, and there was no voicemail left. Thing is, the arrangements for service that I made were with a sales rep-- not an agent on the phone, hence my confusion as to why I received a call from this number. It's possible that they were using this number to confirm an appointment for service hook up... But who knows.

They call here as well, as well as many other companies looking to promote or buy something......is it annoying, it sure is but this will not change. There is no point to get on here and complain about it. Just ignore it and move on. This site is great to lookup and see who the number belongs too, but once that is accomplished your complaining on here will get you no where. There is going to be no lawsuit and you are wasting your time if you want to report to the rcmp, the crtc etc.... just ignore it and move on. I have one number that calls everyday and i have just come to accept it and I ignore it. That is what caller ID is for.

Might as well blow spit in the wind.....no possible way to stop these a**h***s from calling except maybe if every one disconnected our land lines, then where would they be? Using our cell phones of course, if they arn't already.
Robert Short 2013-09-23 18:17:44 Unknown
Stop calling.. our phone number is n the DO NOT CALL LIST!!!!!!
srcaa 2013-09-19 19:37:51 Telemarketer
It is bell calling to promote there services and to push fibe. And to be honest fibe is not all that. The cable company here matches it and beats it anyways by using more frequencies. The thing that pisses me off when you call the number back it does not say who is calling.
888 939 9773 2013-08-22 02:14:19 Unknown
if this is my own phone company using an anonymous number that is harassing me at all hours then i do believe it needs to be reported to the CRTC and RCMP and if charges can be laid then a formal complaint by all of us should be done. This is ridiculous! i have a very ill man in this house who is restricted to bed and needs rest to avoid hospitlzation. I am outraged if the phone company is out to mess with their own clieants that needs to go public big time!!!!! REAL QUICK

got it again. The thing is, the DNC list allows anyone you have done business with in the past 18 months to call as much as they like. What gets me is how there are so many people really fed up with this crap yet not one single politician has ever proposed doing something about it. Like say amending the rules to prevent abuse by firms you happen to use.

Called the number back, it's Bell and the new Fiber Op sales call.
columbus14 2013-08-14 19:06:14 Unknown
Better still, who is in for switching to Eastlink if these calls continue. I have told them if they call me again I will cancel all of my present service with them and switch and I mean it.

Sounds like a good idea, miffed! I am so tired of them. Every couple of months, they come up with new offer I'm not interested in; they start by phoning daily, then a couple of times a day, and finally every ten minutes until I finally pick up. Answering does at least get rid of them for a couple of months, but there seems to be no way to get on their internal Do Not Call list, which I thought was mandatory for all companies.
miffed 2013-06-03 23:07:12 Unknown
its getting old real fast. If Bell Aliant has any responsibility for this we should launch a class action suit on the basis of harassment and emotional distress. Who's in?
Alex 2013-02-14 14:10:46 Unknown
got the call from this number at least twice a day, and if I answered, no one was speaking and then hang up after.
Amanda 2013-01-03 00:25:48 Telemarketer
bell aliant.....I called them and asked to have my number removed he was going to hang up on me until I really got loud and made him look if they had my phone number. we shall see if we get our typical twice a day phone calls.
