I am surprised you let someone come into your house by receiving a phone call from a stranger. Will you be kind enough to offer the company's name and phone listed on your invoice? It seems that many people has agreed to make and appointment, but when you try to call them back for whatever reason (change of date, time, etc) you get a voice mail with no company's name. I am sure you at least offer your company's name or greeting message on your voice mail, right? When you don't, it just makes it fishy, right?

They called me from a local Houston Number this evening.  I told her that they had called several times already and that I would like for them to stop.  The lady on the other end became very RUDE!  She told me that my phone number was just put into her computer system and it dialed it for her.  I told her I was to be removed from the list and again she said it wasn't her fault my number was autodialed by her computer.  I told her it was going to be her fault when I reported this number as a scam and she immediately hung up.  No further calls!

I received a call from Markeisha at 512-504-7318 offering me a $4500 stimulus check to participate in their Energy Efficient Program. She gave the 1-888 # as a call back number, and said they were officed in Dallas. I told her I couldnt setup an appt
until next week so she said she will call back to reschedule my appt on Saturday at 9a.m. When I  researched the number
she was calling from, it was a landline in Kyle, Tx, and I couldnt find a company with the name she gave me in Dallas, Tx.
Thank you for sharing your experiences online.

Received a phone call from a local number 225-271-2067. Was told that my area had been chosen because of high energy consumption. "Julie" knew my name and address. She asked me what the average cost of my utility bills and how old my AC unit was. After telling her these answers, she said I was eligible for up to $4500 in a government tax credit. They could perform a free energy audit and wanted to schedule an appt with me. They also gave me their web address as energyconservationprogram.org when I asked and 8889495195 as their phone number. After reading these comments, I am thinking I will have to cancel.

Same thing--they claimed high energy costs in the area, offered to do a free audit and wanted to set up an appointment, told me I could be eligible for $5,000 in rebates (asked how old my heating/cooling unit was, I think, among other things), said this was all government funded.  I told them if they wanted to mail me more information they could.  They gave me a fake website address where I could learn more:  energyconservation.org.

I got a call from a call center to set up an appt for an energy audit, after which I might be eligible for "state stimulus money" to improve energy efficiency in my home.  I made an appt but asked for a phone number and website to check for legitimacy.  They gave me a "security code" to make it sound official.  The next day I received a phone call (left message) from "Danielle Hawkins" of "Global Green" to confirm the appt time.  I did an internet search on the website, "Global Green," and the State of Texas energy conservation programs.  The website that came up was unrelated and "Global Green" companies that came up were located in NY, WA and CA, far from TX where I am located.  I called the police dept and they googled the number and said right away it was a scam.  (I wonder if the guy who had a positive experience was put up to it by them???)  BE CAREFUL.  I live in San Antonio.

I also got a call from this number telling me that the local government have a program to help reduce the electric bill, as its due to increase by 50% in the next 18 months, a utility auditor will come to audit where I can save electricity. no one show up, I believe this is a scam. Agree that they ought to be investigated.

I also have a appt setup through this company. they came out with a knowledgeable and experienced auditor.  He actually found I had a carbon monoxide leak in my AC system.  he could of saved my entire families life.  I got my AC fixed and also purchased additional energy efficient equipment for my home.  I'm sorry to those that have posted their information based on a phone call, you cancelled the appt, and you have actually no idea about what they are doing...
BTW if you call my business phone and I'm not available my voice mail will pick up...does this make me a scam also lol...

We got a call last night about 7:00 PM from a local number.  They said they were from the electric company and would like to inspect our house for energy leaks.  They had a $5000. Stimulus to update our home.  Our house older so made the appt for the next day.   After unsuccessfully trying to get a person on the phone at our CPS. Then I googled the # and got all comments.   Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I called and cancelled the appt and hung up.

I got a call as well.  I have a friend who got new windows and doors through a program so I made an appointment.  My friend is in one town over from me.  Checked on it When he told me about it but it was not availabe in my area.  Then I read the post here and decided to call and get more info.  I called and ask about the funding and if they were affiliated with any government program.  I was told they were not and the adit would only take about 45 min .  The woman asked what time my appt. Was and I told hee, it was only 30 min before my appt. At the time.  Needless to say no one came.  She probably called and told whomever was coming I was asking questions and to skip my house.

I received a call and said we qualified for an energy audit.  I checked the number and have now cancelled the apt thanks to all of your posts.  they were very insistent that they were not selling anything only an audit. The claim is the same as the other posts.  Up to $5000 in upgrades, etc.

I also received a call they claim that the area where I live has been chosen for energy audits by the government because of high energy costs and that homeowners are eligible for up to $5,000 in energy assistance from the government to upgrade the energy efficiency of their homes. I made an appoint and then checked out the phone number so now I will cancel it.  Thanks to everyone who posted their experience.

These scammers are persistent and will call until you agree to hear their spiel.  They claim that the area where I live has been chosen for energy audits by the government because of high energy costs and that homeowners are eligible for up to $5,000 in energy assistance from the government to upgrade the energy efficiency of their homes.  I made an appointment for the next day but will not let them into my house or answer any further questions and will call the police if necessary.

I got a call at my home as well 10/28/13 and they wanted to make an appointment with me and they said they were conducting energy audits as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for Energy Conservation and that I might be eligible for up to $5,000 energy stimulus.  I called PEC Electric and they said it had nothing to do with them and they think it is a company trying to sell insulation or some other type of home energy product.  They recommended not making an appointment.

My elderly grandmother (89 years old) received a call from these people telling her that they were her utility company and they needed to come to her home at noon (same day) and come inside her home to check her equipment.  My grandmother uses New Braunfels Utility Company (local).  I called them and they said they NEVER call people and tell them they need to come to and/or inside their home!  THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR SCAMMING THE ELDERLY!!!!!
