You really think you're fooling us, that we're a bunch of uneducated, gullible fools? Go away to your favorite porn site, and masturbate to your favorite nasty filth, why don't you? This is not so hard to unpack. The story from "Victoria" is typical of a shill portraying a victim who ignored the nasty collectors and now has been served at work ... and the shame was so great that the victim's first reaction was to come running to a mystery call database to blab all about her problems.

Coastline Financial Group / CF Group and Associates / Legacy Reliance Group / LRG Group / LRG & Associates in Anaheim Hills, CA is a known thug agency making the same tired threats of litigation, which are illegal because they are empty.

Same thing called me and my family members with a case # and threatened with legal action and need to call as soon as possible to avoid a court date, and needed to act as soon as possible.  Scam I wish there was a way to get them to leave you alone.  They have been calling for almost a year.

Total scam, they change their DBA to avoid all the crap written about them online. They are a product of the old ACM Group who just got in MAJOR trouble with the FTC. Considering everything they do is ILLEGAL, you should forward all complaints to the FTC and give them any information that would help with their investigation, and it goes without being said ... DO NOT GIVE "Legacy reliance group & associates" or "Coastline Financial Group LLC"  or pay them anything! SCAM SCAM SCAM

These guys are terrible and must have obtained files from us bank charge offs. A lady called from a blocked number and gave a reference number and to call this number. The "attorney" is johnathon harper, which can be found nowhere on the bar in cali. also the website for LRG and associates "wasnt up yet" ??! although it is now and when compared to other collection companies can tell is simply trying to look legit. They threatened that they have tried to contact me twice and if i didnt come to an agreement by friday (told on wednesday) that it would have an additional 1500 in court costs. also recieving calls from another bogus number claiming the same things. makes you wonder how easily your information is stolen...

This number called my boyfriend's phone first and then mine to tell me I would be sued because of a past US Bank account that was overdrafted and treated like a bad check.  I did not write a bad check, but the account did go negative.  They told me they had attempted to contact me at my previous address from 09 in Ohio, and that if I did not come to some sort of agreement with them then I would face seizure of personal property, garnishment, and even a misdemeanor on my record.  I have nothing on my record.  I contacted an attorney who told me this is more than likely a scamming agency.  I am waiting to see what happens next, but I intend to stay one step ahead of them.

I received the same message, but for a name that is no relation...seriously, did these people look up old criminal records or death/birth/marriage records on people and attach any and all names to whomever they seek.  What they do is go online and search for everyone with that name and then leave a threatening message about what will happen to you if you don't call back with file number, however, they never leave the legit name of a business when they call...only a "John Doe' contact name, which is a bunch of bologna.  I have no idea how these people got my entire families cell phone numbers that are unlisted AND WE NEVER GIVE THEM OUT TO PEOPLE WE DON'T KNOW, but someone inside of the cell phone company must be making a buck on the side.  They actually left a message on my minor children's cell phones too--SERIOUSLY!  What in the hell is wrong with these people.

This number called and is a scam, they leave file numbers and names--for instance, if your name is "Smith" they must Google that name and call anyone that is a "Smith" to phish for information.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION, they social engineer people into providing them more information and come off professional and "legal" acting to try to get what they want.  Probably a bunch of underemployed lawyers working on behalf of collection agencies.  They are aggressive because the companies owed monies have agreed to give them a percentage of whatever they collect.   They will go to any length to collect...if this has made it to your HR, I suggest you contact a REAL attorney.....THIS IS AN ILLEGAL SCAM.

I've got this incoming call on my cell, of course, it was "unknown" - they don't want us to know who they are. And amazingly, in the voice mail they left, it gave a "case number" and identified himself as "Mike Thompson from the Address Verification Department" and also threw in a very threatening message - if not responding, THE FIRM may be forced to make a decision without your consent"

Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing?
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer?s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

A Collection Agent May Not?

Here are the top 11 actions prohibited by the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

Misrepresent Him or Herself

  A debt collector may not misrepresent himself as an attorney or law enforcement officer.

Use the Telephone to Annoy or Harass

  A collection agent may not cause a telephone to ring or engage any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with an intent to annoy, abuse, or harass anyone at the called number.

Threaten Arrest or Lawsuit

  A collection agent may not threaten a consumer with arrest. It may not threaten legal action that is either not permitted or not actually contemplated. In other words, a the threat of a lawsuit may be an empty one.

Use Abusive or Threatening Language

  A debt collector may no use abusive or profane language in the course of communication related to the debt.

Publish a Bad Debt List

  Publishing the consumer?s name or address on a "bad debt" list is prohibited.

Contact By Embarrassing Media

  A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer by post card. It may not use any language or symbol, other than the debt collector?s address, on any envelope when communicating with a consumer by use of the mails or by telegram. A debt collector may use its business name if such name does not indicate it is in the debt collection business.

Contact a Consumer at Work

  A collection agent may not communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.

Seek Unjustifiable Amounts

  A debt collector may not demand any amounts not permitted under an applicable contract or as provided under law.

Contact a Consumer Represented by an Attorney

  A collection agent may not contact a consumer after it learns the consumer is represented by a lawyer.

Communicate With a Consumer After Receiving a Validation Request

  If a consumer sends a written §1692g response within 30 days, the collection agent may not communicate with the consumer until it mails the consumer the requested verification of original creditor's name and address.

Communicate With Third Parties

  A debt collector may not reveal or discuss the nature of a consumer?s debts with third parties other than the consumer?s spouse or attorney. A collection agent may contact neighbors or co-workers only to obtain location information. It may contact a third party again if it has reason to believe the information the party provided previously is false.

Bills.com FDCPA FAQ

Below are questions Bills.com readers ask frequently:

Can a Collection Agent Call My Cell Phone?

  Yes. However, if you tell the debt collector it may not use that number because it is a cell phone, it may not contact you again at that number.

I Keep Receiving Dozens of Calls From Collection Agents. Is That Legal?

  No. Unscrupulous collection agents will use "block parties" or "office parties" where they contact a consumer, multiple neighbors, or co-workers telling them they need to reach the consumer on an urgent matter. This is not permitted under the FDCPA.

A Collector Says I Will Be Arrested if I Do Not Pay

  This was a true statement before the US Civil War, but has not been true since. People may be arrested if an aggressive judge files a bench warrant for a person who does not appear at a hearing relating to a lawsuit regarding a debt. However, in that case, the offense is the failure to respond to a court order, and not the existence of the debt. As stated above, it is illegal under the FDCPA to threaten a consumer with arrest if the consumer does not pay the debt.

I just got a new number previously owned by a Larrisa Williams case 561-96. Somebody named Robert continues to call this number looking for her despite the fact that my message indicates a different name. He is threatening legal action, I really feel sorry for the person that they are trying to reach. But I am not her.

These people are pure harrasers! My daughter-in-law called to let me know that she'd received a call from this number seeking information about me--how to get in touch with me.  She was told that they had papers summoning me to court and they needed to know where to deliver them. They went on to tell my daughter in law that they knew where I lived,had tried to reach me, but still needed more contact information. Personally, I would not talk to these people, because I believe they are scammers working with collection agenices.
I actually called the 866 number myself.  The lady who answered said she was simply working as an answering service that serviced several companies in the building. She could not, however, name the companies and went on to ask me for a case number, name of a contact at 866 or my name. She said that maybe she could then match me with a company. I asked if a collection agency was one of her clients, and she didn't know; she did, however, think a Law Firm was one of her clients.  Needless to say, I gave her none of the information she suggested.  As for the lady who received the garnishment, please get legal representation.

FYI - Just wanted to post this name/note in case anyone else had the pleasure of getting a call from these ...ahem...wonderful people (not).

Got the same call twice now, stated name was Gregory Hudson working for some acquisition firm. They're trying to serve a summons for a debt that, in our case, doesn't even belong to us, which we've already told them AND confirmed with the debtor US Bank. They stated that they've already tried serving in DE and CA, so that's how I know what it's about. Yesterday they gave me a different case number than the one today.

They just called me AGAIN saying they have 2 failed attempts to serve me - one in FL (which I've never lived there) - and that they KNOW I now live in Phoenix (which I don't and havent for over 10yrs), that it is time sensitive, need to update my address and the petitioner's office will be forced to make a decision without my consent!

The caller ID is blocked or "No caller ID" pops up.

They called me during the lunch hour and sounded very professional, much harder to detect it was a scam than other scam calls I've received. However, it is a scam. The number they called from was blocked and they gave me this 1-888 number to call for more information. They said that they had a summons they needed to serve but didn't have any of my information. Also, summons will be delivered via mail.
