Got a text yesterday from 803-979-5915 (from South Carolina) saying, "Huge winner of a bahamas cruise for two: 888-991-8225you won". It seems like all carriers got hit, a different one on each day.

I'm on Sprint. My message said: "Lucky you, you won a trip to the bahamas, you can also bring a partner, call us at: 888-991-8225and set a date." (their typing mistakes, not mine). The usual common sense should apply: If it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't!"

I just called verizon and they told me to forward the message to 7726 and it sends a notice to tech people and you also forward the number it came from and it blocks the number too.

On 2/28/13, I received a text message from 601-307-6735 informing me: "Congrat's you've won a free cruise to the bahamas for two people: 888-991-8225were toll free" (Bad spelling and punctuation is theirs, not mine.)
I enter a lot of contests and some of them provide an 'option' to receive text messages for future promotions (from the sponsors). It looks like someone may have sold a phone list or two (or three or four).
Looks absolutely like a scam.

I too received the text. Traced both numbers, obviously spam, BUT the sender # was from a TMobile # in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Think I was hacked?

Got the same thing on my phone as well around the same time. I wonder if they got the numbers through the phone provider? If not there must be a common thread of how our numbers were selected to receive this message. I am on Verizon and I got it, my lady is on Sprint and she did not.................It could be anything from credit providers that share info, or (less likely in my case) it could be from an old raffle or giveaway that was signed up for...NOT EVEN THE CELL IS SAFE FROM THE SCAMMERS

I just got a text from 603-377-0262 with the text, "Are you excited, you won 2 free bahamas cruise ticket's. But you must call now. 8889918225 right here." (Yes, I misspelled and kept the awful grammar and punctuation the same as it was sent to me.)
This is obviously a scam, because any legit sweepstakes would call and/or email for verification.
