Every time you receive these text messages contact the email below:
US-CERT is collecting phishing email messages and web site locations so that we can help people avoid becoming victims of phishing scams.
You can report phishing to us by sending email to phishing-report@us-cert.gov
What is Phishing?
Phishing is an attempt by an individual or group to solicit personal information from unsuspecting users by employing social engineering techniques. Phishing emails are crafted to appear as if they have been sent from a legitimate organization or known individual. These emails often attempt to entice users to click on a link that will take the user to a fraudulent web site that appears legitimate. The user then may be asked to provide personal information such as account usernames and passwords that can further expose them to future compromises. Additionally, these fraudulent web sites may contain malicious code.

I have received over 8 text messages on my cell phone since July 1, 2009 from various phone numbers and text emails. They all say "Subject: Farmers And Merchants Bank Notification: Your Debit-Card has been deactivated. To reactivate call the number." It's driving me crazy and WASTING MY MINUTES! THERE IS NO WAY TO BLOCK THEM IF THEY KEEP CHANGING THEIR PHONE NUMBER? I do not have these bank or whatever accounts. My cell phone service is Sprint. I think Sprint probably sold my number in order to drive down my minutes.

Sprint has been no help; I do have had my number listed with "Do Not Call"... so I have begun reporting all messages to www.donotcall.gov and send emails to phishing-report@us-cert.gov.
Problem is that the original text is "unknown" and as well I ran a reverse search of the return phone number 714)453-9702 and confirmed "unpublished", I am unable to issue a Cease and desist...
Been compiling a history to the calls and about to tier up the issue with the "Media" (I got an uncle on the inside)...

I have been receiving texts over the last week on average one a day. Same or similar message that my Farmer's and Merchant account has been suspended or my debit card deactivated and please call the number to reactivate. I tried calling a couple and did not get through. The numbers they used are 866-608-6900, 206-691-8142,888-995-3339, 888534-7944,888-510-2724 and 866-720-6282. The domain names have been fmb.com, suneast.org and firstfederal.com. As with the others I do not nor ever have had an account with Farmer's and Merchant Bank.

This may not be related but, I bought NORTON Software Late May and got 2 REBATE Debit cards. It seems that I started getting these annoying text messages right after I received the debit cards. May be just coincidence.

Text message from this number as well as from 888-510-2724, 866-720-6282, 888-534-7944 and 888-505-5780 all from Farmers and Merchants bank regarding a credit or debit card. How can I stop these messages? Have reported all to SpringPCS @abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com. They cannnot or will not do anything!

I received this same phone text as everyone else. But mine said it was sent from EcountCitiPrepaid but with the same phone number. I have and area code of 215. I hope the FBI or some agency for fraud gets these people soon. Its very annoying and very disturbing.

I am reposting this message for each phone number I recived a text message from in order to help inform others and help prevent people from losing their identities.
I have received about 12 text messages since June text messages all supposedly from Farmers and Merchants Bank. Each time they request that I call back their toll-free number, which constantly changes, in order to reactivate a debit card. It's driving me insane. They are wasting my text messages and it's a blatant scam. My cell phone is from Sprint with a CA exchage, too. I've called them and they can't seem to block anything. My guess is they sold our numbers to a variety of companies and now we're getting screwed. I demanded that Sprint credit me for each text as I do not have unlimited texting.
I called 4 of their numbers last night from a pay phone. One came up as disconnected, the other 3 said service was unavailable.
Each message also says it's coming from a different email address. Here's the list: qybnnc@fmb.com, lqowqe@fmb.com, urpmvh@fmb.com, dlcqsm@fmb.com, sstiis@fmb.com, pnqkqu@fmb.com
Here are the phone numbers they gave: 888-995-3339, 888-534-7944, 888-510-2724, 866-720-6282, 888-505-5780, 888-490-4578
I report all messages to www.donotcall.gov and send emails to phishing-report@us-cert.gov

I have an area code of 310 and have been receiving this stupid text message at all hours of the night and day. Unfortunately, my cel phone does not have the option to block specific numbers so I am left to be harrased by these a_holes until they see no more reason to text me.
jenny 2009-07-09 01:45:39 Unknown
my husband and i have been getting the same texts as everyone else for over a week now. we have sprint, does anybody else? also, does anybody know how i can block these texts/emails on my blackberry curve? i tried to figure it out but i can't. and its so annoying.
jim 2009-07-09 01:09:02 Unknown
Put a block on th phone for texts from fmb.com
kallen 2009-07-09 01:00:17 Unknown
Same deal, I even replied to the text (knowing that It would probably lead to nothing, but figured what the heck")...At first I thought maybe some poor schlep got his card stolen and calling this 800# would turn it on for the scammers, I never called.
Between this and the car insurance BS, I'm thinking of throwing my phone in the river!

No Account With F&M, All Circuts Are Busy When I Call I Get Text & Email Day & Night For A Week. I Think They Made An Error I Got A Cell Number In One Text I Recieved.
WTF F&M??!! 2009-07-09 00:37:10 Unknown
How is it possible that we're all getting these annoying texts? I do NOT have an F&M acct. Seriously annoying!!!
vxn0409 2009-07-09 00:32:02 Unknown
I originally called from a blocked number because I suspected it was fraud. If you call from a blocked number it will say "Circuits are busy" or it will just hang up on you. If you call from an unblocked number it will ask you for your credit card number so they can(supposedly)reactivate your account.

Its not just the 562 area code because i have been receiving them and my area code is 714! any idea how to stop it? or should i just report it again?
bob 2009-07-09 00:23:56 Unknown
its a scam. Confirmed it with farmers and merchant bank. They are texting everyone with 562 area code.
Estaban 2009-07-09 00:23:39 Unknown
I have been receiving these calls for over a week. I don't have an account with Farmers& Merchants bank. I called their fraud line and spoke with them. They were well aware of the problem and have reported it to the FBI and other banking authorities to investigate. If you want to call them also, here is their number:
562) 344-2350 (Monday?Thursday, 9am?5pm, Friday, 9am?6pm, Saturday, 9am?12pm, PST)
shut_them_down 2009-07-09 00:19:55 Unknown
Yes. Same harassment. Every day for several weeks. Same "circuits busy" message. Sent a text reply last week, saying I had no such card and to stop calling. Next day -- another call . . . SO IRRITATING!
Alyssa 2009-07-09 00:19:35 Unknown
I, too, have been receiving these text messages at least one time per day for the last few weeks. I don't have a F&M card, and don't want to even call the number for fear it's some kind of a scam once you attempt to call. So annoying!
shar27 2009-07-09 00:12:30 Unknown
Yes! I have been receiving the SAME texts all week. I got the same message when I called. Must be some sort of scam. Does anyone know how to stop the texts?
Bothered 2009-07-08 23:51:11 Unknown
The text says "Farmer's and Merchants Bank has deactivated your 540313XXXXXXXXXX debit card.To reactivate call8889953339.
I have received this text daily over the last week. I do not have a Farmer's and Merchants Bank debit card. When I call, it say's either circuits are busy or mailbox full.
