Got a robo call from 347-410-5894 claiming to be Home Defenders League which is a scam organization run by pedophile David Lagstein using the toll free number 888-995-HOPE (4673)
The are NOT a non-profit organization!
They are a COLLECTION AGENCY that MASQUERADES who they really are by using terms like "HOPE" and "Home Defenders League". They are similar, if not owned by www.hopenow.org which is a COLLECTION AGENCY created by the BANKS!
They are calling people behind on their mortgage "hoping" you will call so they can get you to give them enough information so THEY can get money from the GOVERNMENT and YOU while they short-sale or foreclose on YOUR HOME!
THEY ARE A COLLECTION AGENCY!

Keep getting a call from 888-995-4673 but they are not leaving messages. Tried to do a reverse search but refuse to pay for this service.

Sabe alguien si esto es SCAME?

Guy came up to me while I was out putting up Christmas lights, hands me this envolope and says I'm supposed to call the number inside (1-888-995-(HOPE) 4673)- then he leaves.

Looks like a scam.  Smells like a scam.  Tastes like a scam.

I received the same thing and my husband said that he took Pictures of our house. What is the deal?????????????

This is the national hotline number for the HOPE program. (4673 = HOPE) The HOPELINE is legit, however, there are many scams that will use this program to legitimize their scam. The hopeline is a non-profit housing counseling agency that helps homeowners get in touch with their lender, to determine if there is an alternative to foreclosure. IT IS FREE. If someone is trying to charge you to obtain a loan modification or get information from you, it is probably a scam!!!

A guy showed up at my house waving a small piece of paper around that said to contact my mtg company (with the mtg co. name written in).  But the phone number they put on it to call, was not my Mtg Company, but rather the phone number for HOPE.  The young man tried using scare tactics claiming he had the right to enter our property and how we'd better do this and that or else.  

Be careful out there for the scams that are being created as a result of our difficult financial times.  They have no compunction in ripping off an already struggling family.

The next time you people cross my no trespassing sign you better have a policeman with you.

So, I checked it out and surprisingly enough it is not a scam. This Hope Hotline is actually run by Countrywide. At first I thought it was as scam too. But Countrywide called me and transferred me to this Hope Dept. I called back to verify that everything was actually legit.
How much they can help, I do not know.

Says the Hope Hotline.  It's from a note left on my front door for previous resident.
