I was told this is the Collections Dept. through AT&T. They were able to post date a paymnet if you need more time before it hits your credit report.

Caller ID showed a different 800 number.

They called my house and my caller id said 888-999-2153 but then it went off and came up as 1-301-223-0024 and i called that number over and over but it would ring like 3 sometime 4 time then it would say were srry but the phone you are calling has just been disconected! wtf this is annoying!!! >:(

The reason you keep getting calls is because you or someone you know is in collections, I happen to work for the company that you are reffering to and it is an automated system that dials out and sometimes you can be disconnected on accident, the best way to stop the calls is to call back, (you will get alot further if your'e not rude) and request that the number be blocked.  We do not purposely call to annoy anyone, it's on a automated dialer, and we have no idea who we are speaking with untill you answer the phone and then an account pops up on our screen either with your'e delinquent account or someone you know that may have put your number down as a reference when they signed up for service. Again we deal with very rude people all day and have little patience for someone that calls and just is plain rude to us, we are just doing our jobs, bill collectors have bills and families to feed just like you do.

I called the number back and spoke with someone who was not very nice at all and she wound up hanging up on me because I would not give her information.  I called back and spoke with someone else that was a lot better and she was able to explain to me that I had a delinquent bill with ATT.  So I called ATT and sure enough I had an old wireless account that had a balance and they had sent it to the collection agency.  The agency does do business with ATT.  Now the only strange part to me is that West Asset Management (Formerly Omnium Worldwide Inc) has a different balance.  I still need some investigating before I pay anyone anything.  But as for now it seems legit.

the same as someone already said, no idea what they wanted or who they were so we googled the number and found this post. Thank for the info, knowing that there is a debt owed to AT&T in the family, this answers our questions.

Only thing different is that it was not a pre-recorded message, but "sam williams" asking for my brother. anyone know if this is legit?

found some info on them and their "training" techniques, it's basically their job to threaten and be angry and be rude, they do whatever it takes, thats ridiculous.

Collection Agency for at&t, i could not believe how rude the lady was that i talked to, yelling at me and threatening me. I tried to explain to her what happened with my at&t service, and she would not listen one bit. screw them.  she threatened to call me everyday until i pay, so i said "okay" i never answer an 800 number, or any number i don't recognize, so i don't mind taking 1 second out my day to press that little button on my cell phone, "reject".  If they call you, tell them you you need everything in writing, and you don't discuss ANYTHING over the phone, that shuts 'em up.  Collection agency's HATE writing letters, it cost's them more money in the end than what is actually owed. (depending on how long you dispute it)

Got a call from Camden Jones...at my work of all places.  "This is an important business matter, return my call at 888-999-2153.

They called at about 11:30 AM today.  I didn't answer and they left a message  I'm not sure who it is because they don't say in the message, but it was a lady asking for Mary Jo.  My name is not Mary Jo.  And the lady didn't even leave her name.  Just the number to call back.  And the number she said to call back was 888-999-2153 but that's not what showed up on the caller ID.

another one - from John.  This is a collection agency who uses threats on a regular basis.  This message said he needed to speak to me by 4 pm (or else - or else what).

I have received 2 calls from this number with the same automated message from "Cathy". I called back and the man that answered said they were trying to get in contact with my grandmother. I reported it to my father and he called back and asked what they were calling about. They would not release any information and said that they would call until they got my grandmother. They also lied and said that someone had given them another phone number for her already and they wanted to "confirm it". He saw through that ploy and did not give them her contact information. She is elderly and gets confused easily. This seems to be a SCAM of sorts that targets the elderly.

I too just got a call from Kathy at 888-999-2153. They called at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and just called at 8:15 on Monday.  I didn't know til I came here that it's a collection agency. I don't have an AT&T account, so I'm not sure what they want.  They can twirl for all I care - I'm not returning a call from a recording. If it were important, there'd be a live person on the line asking for a specific person and stating who they are!

The caller sounds like a black man by the name of shane and wants me to return his call. Waiting to see if he calls back.

Rec'd call from Kathy on 09-25-07 requesting my dad. He is not well and I asked for a message. She only provided phone number and the name Omni Worldwide. When pressed for more info, she would not provide and got nasty when I kept pushing her for the reason for the call. Told her not to call this number again after she threatened to call and call continuously until she got my dad.

Okay, an update to my previous entry this is a company called: Omnium Wolrdwide Inc. (https://paynow7.speedpay.com/owi/index.asp) They are a debt collection agency who was contracted by AT&T. They do not say who they are in their prerecorded message because they want you to call back and talk to someone about paying. In my case it's a screw up with AT&T, which god help you if thats the case! No one knows anything on either end!

I have just received the same phone call, in fact, their system screwed up and the message from Kathy repeated. I don't believe this is legit.

Same thing, Kathy has been calling and leaving messages on my voicemail for weeks. I don't know who she is, or who she is from.  I've tried some reverse lookups on the 1888-999-2153 number but all I found was your post.

Anyclue... I would call her back... but now that she has called on a SUNDAY, gives me the impression that this is not a legitimate business call.

Answered phone (don't have caller ID)  no one there but suddenly a recorded message that says "This is Kathy from Nebraska..Please return my call at 888-999-2153. I would like some feedback from you on something I'm working on.
