Legit call from Tiger Direct confirming a purchase on your credit card. All they asked me to confirm was my name and the address. My credit card had already been charged by the time they called.
mike 2013-12-02 14:38:54 Unknown
Your name is missleading. Are you a scammer?
mike 2013-12-02 14:36:12 Unknown
really I recieved a call from the same # 6:30 am this morning. A charge thru tiger direct that was on hold. The voice had an accent so I checked my account with TD and YES there was a charge on hold that did not make. The charge would have never gone thru but they are informing you when something doesn't look right. I guess its up to you to look into it, if you don't your a fool.
Gary 2013-09-10 16:52:58 Unknown
I don't understand the hate for TD? They called me too to verify my order since my shipping address didn't match my billing address (they had sent a few emails beforehand but I never got around to calling them).
Yea so what if they are doing it out their own interests, at least the customers are getting some benefit out of it, too.

I also received a missed call from this number. After reading these posts, I became concerned and called the number back. The woman I spoke with asked for my cell phone, which I gave her. She said, "Ok, we have that number as Erin [Lastname]." I said yes, that's me. And then she told me what they had in their records as the last 4 digits of the card used to place the order, which indeed matched my credit card. She then asked if I placed an order for some headphones. I told her I absolutely did not. So she then checked to see if any other orders were made with my card and found none. She canceled the order and said they were flagging it as fraudulent in their system. I called my credit card company and ordered a new card.
I appreciate this company calling to verify their orders; who knows what kind of charges might have happened on my card!

it was tigerdirect verifying an order

Summary:
Legitimate call from Tiger Direct
Details:
I was at first skeptical about a call from Tiger Direct at this number, but after calling them back via their customer support number from their website, I am reassured that this was a legit process to verify a purchase I made.
The representative said they needed to verify my identity and all they had to do was call me back (I didnt answer the first time) at the phone number I supplied at checkout.
Once they called me back, my order was processed.

Im mixed about the call when i ordered, happy they called to verify, annoyed the lady wanted information and wouldnt explain (bad accent). So i demanded the direct number and called after making sure it was legit. Guy released the hold and didnt need any more info.

Tiger Direct calling after I placed an order with CompUSA. They left a voicemail and I called them back. They wanted to know my year of birth and middle initial to verify that I placed the order.
Compusa 2012-05-15 16:06:19 Unknown
This is Compusa. I placed an order yesterday and they called to confirm my information EOD. I missed the initial call and called them back and was speaking with someone in about 1 minute. I actually did not end up having to give them any additional information over the phone as the order had already gone out. In any case, it's legit

If you get a call definitely follow up, I just avoided a fraudulent charge of over $600 to my credit card? This was not an order I made and it was scheduled to be delivered to a different address! I've ruined their day but botching up their illiegal order. Compusa cancelled the order and I will follow up with law enforcement to press charges.

I placed an order at tigerdirect website. They called me and asked me to send them copy of my driver lisense. I don't have an access to fax, so I will need to go to post office after work to send it.
Its unneeded stress for me. Not to mention that now I worry for my money. Because when I asked 'What if I dont have driver lisense?' Operator said 'Then we can't process the order'. And my 450 dollars already autorized by paypal.
Ive made bigger purchases before and never had these requests from sellers. I doubt its even legal. Or they at least should warn customers about that.
I will not recommend this website to anyone, because personally it offends me. And now I wish I would pay a little more and use service of bigger sellers, with whom I never had these problems. Its making me feel, like a criminal, who needs to prove they innocent.

Whats up with Tiger Direct? I got a call from my credit card company stating that someone tried to make a purchase of over $4,000 from Tiger Direct on my credit card (my limit is only $600). Think there is some correlation between the fraud and Tiger Direct? Seems like there's a lot of posts here!
CLMH 2011-08-05 02:19:22 Unknown
They called me three times in a row. Didn't leave message. I looked up number and saw posts so I was curious and called them back. They asked me if I ordered anything from Circuit City and Office Max and I said "no". They told me the last four digits if CC and said there were fraudulent purchares being made on my CC and that I should immediately cancel card.
They did me a great justice and for all of you, this is not a scam.
They are there to help us.

Thank you! Comes up as "Credit Card Aut" on my ID and I don't answer calls that don't specify who they're from. I actually do order from Tiger Direct.
apocalypse 2011-06-06 21:06:10 Unknown
This is a number that tigerdirect uses for Credit Card verifications. Basically they're calling to make sure someone isn't using someone else's credi card.

Received a message from CompUSA to verify a purchase. Turned out to be a fraudulent charge (Toshiba laptop). Canceled that purchase and contacted my credit card company to cancel the card. Turned out there was another fraudulent charge for $367. Glad they called to verify that purchase.

Received a message asking to verify a purchase. Called back and turned out to be a fraudulent charge to my credit card. They call to verify any purchase in which the billing and delivery address don't match. Someone had ordered an Xbox 360 with my Discover card from TigerDirect. I was able to confirm it was fraudulent and change my credit card information directly with the issuer. Others may have found this a harassing phone call, I was grateful for it.

Verify that it is Tiger Direct
they wanted to verify my order. I called back. They said they could not verify my shipping address (I did recently move, but updated ALL my credit cards). I asked if the credit cards was declined. They said no, the address went through fine on it. I then asked what the problem was. They said they needed proof that was my address. They wanted me to fax a copy of my lease or a utility bill. I canceled the order. This is unacceptable. TigerDirect does not need to know my personal contracting with other businesses. NewEgg will now get the order.
Pay attention to this # and call back!! 2010-12-20 20:38:40 Unknown
We received this call on Monday and they left a message to call back to verify an order placed on the previous Friday. Well, I did some searching online and finally called back after reading this message board. And I'm glad I did because someone had gotten my credit card info and was trying to buy a laptop. They were able to tell me the last four digits of the card used. I called the CC company and there were a total of 4 charges that were fraudulant. Thankfully, I wasn't responsible for any of them. After canceling the account, I called the 888-999-8800 number back to find out the order had been canceled which was great for the CC company. I wanted the name on the shipping address but they wouldn't release it to me but will release it to the authorities once they get a fax from them.
Beware and always investigate. Just don't give out any information when looking into something like this!

A lady called this morning from Tiger Direct (1-888-999-8800). She wanted verification on an order; however, I never purchased anything from this company. She told me that my credit card number was probably stolen, and she would cancel the order. I didn't have to give out any personal information either, just the order number, which they supplied on my answering machine, and my name.
Anyways, this is a legit call. Give them a call back to make sure your not a victim of identity theft.

Receiving this call helped us catch identity theft rather quickly. My husband and I never deal with the company (Tiger Direct), so when I received a call for an order from a company I wasn't familiar with in my husband's name, we were concerned. Upon calling to verify, the order was made with a Chicago # attached, but we live several states away (apparently they verify that the phone # matches the phone # connected to the account). We were able to confirm that it wasn't us, and were able to get our debit card cleared of about $1000 other charges from various places that didn't call mere days since the charges began. This saved us time and a complicated process of finding all the problems.
Thank you Tiger Direct for caring enough about your customers to want to verify, even if it's a minor inconvenience to the people with legit purchases.
