who this caller

Same as Phil. I saw the missed call from the number when i left class and thought nothing of it. He continued to call for almost a week and everytime i would hang up or make some stupid excuse to hang up. He asked me for my password for something, and I responded "I wouldn't think you guys would need that to check details of my account"  and he hung up, havent heard from him since.

I got 2 calls from this number this morning. I hung up the first time without responding and they called back but didn't leave a message.

Got the call today on my Telus blackberry (corporate). Number used to be a Bell number, and I do have an account with them for another phone, so I listened. Very strong east indian accent with lots of background noise.

Offered me a free "something something eclipse?" phone. Asked me how many Bell phones I had. I said he should know that and he gave me some story saying he couldn't look it up as it was against policy. I said I didn't use it, it was for another family member, and he asked who used it. Asked how much a month I pay, and I said I didn't, it was only under my name, so I had no idea. Told me he was going to transfer me to his "supervisor" so that he could help me out and I said that I was busy right then. He just said (in a downtrodden voice) "Ok.. Thank your sir." and hung up.

I BELIEVE THIS CALL IS COMING FROM INDIA, TO CALL IT BACK YOU WOULD HAVE TO DIAL 011+91+AREA CODE + PHONE NUMBER BECAUSE IT IS AN INTERNATIONAL CALL. MAYBE IF THEY STARTED GETTING HARRASSED THEY WOULD STOP.

I got 2 calls from 1-891-889-0001 on my telus cell phone. First one on Jan.20.2009 @ 6.15PM no mess.left then I got another one 2 mins later, again I did not answer.

Man with a very thick Indian accent saying he was from Bell Mobility and that because of my "customer record" I won a free phone. I told him I was happy with my phone, I didn't need another one and he sounded perturbed by this, saying, "but it's absolutely FREE, you can use it for your boyfriend or your neighbour" and that's when I was completely convinced it was a scam and hung up. Has tried to call back 3 times with no message.

I just got a call from this number, no message left. It concerns me as each minute costs me money if a connection is made and until I googled it I wasn't aware of the nature of the call. How would my cellphone number get out to these 'telemarketers'?

Just received a call on my cell phone. Given that my cell number is rarely given out, I'm thinking I just got a call courtesy of the CANSPAM act...

8918890001 just called me i didnt pick up cuz im at work.  i always get these weird numbers calling me. one time i picked up and they said they were calling from telus too i always just hang up. stupid ppl

I got a call from 891-889-0001 today(JAN.30) afternoon. He said he's calling from telus and I can get a LG shine phone silver for free in 5 business days and he said he needs some information to confirm. But I couldn't answer anything because I was working. Anyway his accent was really hard to understand and connection was really bad. that's why I can't believe he's working for telus. how can telus connection is bad like that ! that's really funny.

they also call claiming to offer extended vehicle warranties. They have called me twice this month claiming to be Telus Mobility and on behalf of BMW Canada.

They call and don't leave a msg don't they know most people don't answer unknown numbers on their cell phone!??

I work for bell as well, and A friend of mine just recieved this call. Having seen my OWN Boss get a call from this guy on his DEMO Line, I'd been telling all my friends about this scam, as well as my customers. I wish there was more we could do, just called my Help Desk, they said for me to wait till tomorrow and call customer service.
There ARE people who will fall for this scam. Which makes me unhappy.

Indian Dude with a thick accent name "Alistar" just called my blackberry - claiming to call on behalf of Telus - telling me that I won some sort of "LG Shine phone"...
The background sounded like a factory the noise was unbearable, he asked me some peronal stuff like: how many phones I have at home (from telus) and how much do I pay for them on monthly bases....I told him that I didn`t need any free phones and hung up on him. The guy sounded very fishy ans suspicious this is definitely a scam!!!!!!!

Woman claiming to be named Sandy from Telus, same offer of a free phone but asking for all sorts of personal information. Claimed to be calling from Telus' Head Office in Calgary. Same thick accent and background sounded very noisy. I told her that I would confirm the offer from Telus myself and they verified that there was no offer and Googled the number and confirmed that it was a scam.

I work for Bell Mobility, and we have been looking into this as it has been a concern for quite a while now.  We can only trace the numbers as far as the Telus Website where we found a list.  There are approx 50 or 60 (891) numbers, and they are all claiming to be from Bell, they are not.  It is very important that you DO NOT give them ANY information, ask first for their employee numbner and name, before they have a chance to ask you for anything.

this number called during the afternoon... i answered and a man with an indian accent (who sounded VERY far away and VERY crackly like it was a bad connection) claimed he was calling from telus... i was busy so i hung up on him. the number immediately called back but i didnt answer and he left no message. thanks for telling us this is a confirmed scam.

This number (891-881-0001) HAS BEEN CONFIRMED as one of the numbers of a scamer/telemarketer by Bell Mobility Canada. I have talked with their corporate security team and they are aware of 60 or so numbers that are randomly used for the one call to cull a persons personal information. DO NOT give them any information. Try to get a name and/or some information that may identify who they are or who they are with and report it to Bell Mobility Canada by dialing 611 from your Bell cellular phone and then hit '0' ('0' again for some) then '5'. At the end of the call ask to be placed on the "do not call list" but beware the person may tell you to do something obscene. This HAS been verified officially by Bell Mobility Canada and IS being looked into.

I work for bell mobility too and i recently got a lot of calls from customers claiming to get calls from that number.. i had a question for Eileen... I wanted to know what position you are in bell mobility and if your information is based on some actual facts. I want to give a proper answer to the customers that contact me for that information and i asked my manager and he was not aware... Like how do we know that its really not Bell.. I mean i understand that its suspicious but do we have a real proof that its fake.. and do you know Elieen if Bell is doing something to stop them?? Thank you

Its a telemarketing for bell canada trying to sell a "free" samsung phone, based in india its a dude named "Michael Smith" funny, claims to be from calgary but the phone number is from canada
