Was looking for foreclosed properties for Washington Mutual, went to the following site:

Bank REO Real Estate
Daily News on Banking, Real Estate and Global Economics

The first bank they have listed is Washington Mutual   REO PHONE NUMBER 1-866-396-6284 (Automated)

Dialed that number and a recording comes on stating that number is not in service to call: 900-446-2900.
A machine answers.

Bank REO Real Estate should be responsible for information they provide on their site.

BE CAREFUL!

Called RCN, to see if they knew anything, spoke to dumb (the first operator) and dumber (the supervisor)
they don't know anything.  I have been waiting for RCN customer service for 5 minutes - maybe I'm the idiot.

I misdialed an 800 number by 1 number. Got a recorded msg saying press 1 etc to get a gift card for walmart. I hung up and did my calling. Out of curiosity I called the same wrong number back and it gave me the please call 900-446-2900. I refuse to and hung up. I called that 800 number back and it went to the same you've won this except this time it was a cruise where I only pay the port fees. 800-906-9881 is the number I dialed wrong. Stupid scam numbers.

Received my AT&T phone bill and there was a charge added on by "MCI" for DIR ASSIST 900-446-2900. I contacted AT&T the first time and the person that I talked with told me that I would have to call MCI's number (1-800-288-2020) I called MCI and they told me that they could not remove the $2.12 charge because it was put there by another company (because of the person that I was speaking to had I an accent) I could not understand the name that he was giving me. I again called AT&T and spoke with a lady named Stephanie from Chiago she was very helpful and removed the charge and put a 900 number block on my phone line. I know that this is not alot of money but whoever is doing this is getting rich at others expense. I don't know if AT&T will "eat" the 2.12 but someone needs to go after the ones involed with this scam.

I just tried to call "turtle shack" about a turtle that my son wants. I called 800-517-1809. There was a recording that the number has changed and the new number was 900-446-2900 and there would be $1.99 fee for this call. I didn't call it but instead looked it up online. I knew it was a scam! WHY IS THIS BEING ALLOWED?

Prank Call
I tried to call the Smucker's Company on their toll free number of 1-888-520-9555 about their natural peanut butter with honey. The 888 number is listed on the Smucker's website.  My call was intercepted by a female voice recording directing me to redial to 1-900-446-2900.  The voice said the call would be $1.99 per minute and you had to be "18 years of age or older".  Whoa!!!  Red flag this is one of those filthy adult sex sites because it's a 900 numbers and because of the age requirement. The hacking could have originated in China because of the caller's name given above by Annette as PANDA MARKETING GROUP.....HUM.M.M.M.M.M.M  - Makes you wonder.

DO NOT DIAL THIS NUMBER AND IF IT SHOWS UP ON YOUR BILL, CALL THE PHONE COMPANY TO HAVE IT REMOVED FROM YOUR BILL AND BLOCK 900 NUMBERS. I DON'T KOW IF SOMEONE IN OUR OFFICE MADE THE CALL OR NOT BUT WE DON'T EVEN HAVE MCI AND NO ONE HERE EVEN KNOWS ABOUT A 900 NUMBER! I MEAN LIKE NEVER HEARD OF A 900 NUMBER FOR DIRECTORY SERVICES. YOU CAN ALSO CALL THE FCC AND THE UTILITIES TRADE COMISSION TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. GOOD LUCK AND BEWARE!

Charged by verizon for a call to 900 446-2900 at 4am Thanksgiving night. The call was not made from my phone as they insisted and I also have a 900 block on my linethat should have prevented anyway. Odd thing is... there also was a $10.00 charge on my cell bill on the Same nite for a premium text for Game Cheats which was a text. But it never showed on my phone. I can only assume this is some kind of hack/intercept of phone numbers.

I was calling a bank on their information line and a message came on directing me to call 900-446-2900 at a charge of 1.99 per minute, said I had to be 18 to make the call. I did not call that number. Instead I redialed the bank number and everything was alright this time. I'm just wondering if I should report this to the bank?

I got an MCI charge on my AT&T bill for a directory assistant call to 900-446-2900 for $1.99. I called AT&T. The service rep told me I need to call that number to find out about the charge. I wasn't about to call a 900 number, so I called AT&T again and got a different rep. This one said I had to call MCI. (I don't even have an MCI account) My AT&T bill list an MCI number which is the same as the AT&T number! I called AT&T again, this time the 3rd rep said she would take it off my bill, and block 900 numbers.
The next month, I got credited, then charged again! same number, 1 minute call to MCI Direct Assist 900-446-2900.
I called AT&T. He said I have to call MCI. I told him I don't even have MCI, and there is a 900 block on my phone. He connected me to MCI anyway. MCI said there was nothing I could do about it. He claimed my cat must have made the call, since I didn't. He said there is no such thing as a 900 Direct Assist, and his end didn't not say it was direct assist, just a 900 call. I went online, found hundreds of complaints about this number. So I called MCI again and said I wanted to file a complaint. The lady took all the info. She said the 900 calls are charged by another company through MCI. They called that number and got a "direct assist" that directed them to an alternative healing place, which directed them to some "radio personality" (huh?). She said it was not a scam... just block the 900 calls with AT&T. She suggested I switch to MCI. I told her that's a laugh!
I'm still looking for a way to file a fraud complaint, and get on MCI to DO something!!!

I called an 800 number today and got the message to call 900-446-2900.  It appears that MCI, now part of Verizon, gives you this message when a customer of theirs stops paying for (abandons) an 800 number.  The number I was calling (I have since found out) is no longer used by the company I was trying to reach, so instead of giving a "disconnected-no longer in service" message, Verizon trys to scam me into paying $1.99 for directory assiatance to find the company's new phone number.  This isn't some anonimus scam.  This is corporate greed brought to you be the people formerly known as WorldCom.  If you are a Verizon customer, use this opportunity to tell them what you think of their business practices.

I called the Verizon support center for my FiOS internet and the 800 number was intercepted by a message saying the new number was 900-446-2900. There was also a message it would cost $1.99. I guess Verizon is trying to pay off that expensive fiber optic they thought would save them. I WILL CANCEL MY VERIZON SERVICE as soon as the contract expires. What crap!

I received a charge for $1.99 + tax from MCI on my AT&T phone bill for a call to 900-446-2900.  I didn't make this call and asked AT&T to remove it which they did.  They said they would send the charge back to MCI and if they chose to bill separately they would have to do it directly.

Got a phone call from someone who has a Direct Express card. She stated that 1-900-466-2900 is on the back of her Direct Express card.  Technically, the only phone number that should be on the back of the Direct Express Card is 1-888-741-1115, and there should be no charge.  Apparently, the fee for calling 1-900-466-2900 is $1.99/per minute.

My Century Link (formerly Quest) bill dated 9/13/11 listed an MCI charge for $1.99 for a call to 900 446-2600 that I did not make.  ( I never got any kind of call asking me to call the 900 number.) I called Century Link and they said that MCI uses Century Link for MCI billing purposes.   Century Link said that they would see to it that the charge would not appear on future Century Link biils, but they had to tell MCI they would be doing that and, most likely, MCI would be sending me a letter asking me to pay the bill.  NOT!   The people at Century Link had no idea how I might contact MCI to dispute the charges.  I'm not willing to hang around for another month waiting for MCI to bill me for that $1.99.  I am not a happy camper.

Went to call the Oregon Department of Revenue at the 1800 number listed on their site: http://www.oregon.gov/DOR/contact_us.shtml (800-886-7204)

A message comes on saying to "grab a pen to write down our new number," or something similar to. They list this 900-446-2900 number and say that it's $1.99 per call to use their directory listing. I used Google and found this site. Maybe Oregon DOR was hacked or let their phone number lease expire? Don't know and can't get through to them on any other phone number.
