If so, they may have subscribed to an online RPG game called "RuneScape."

Ask a household member if they have subscribed to this, then the RuneScape membership 'Pay by Phone' has went into effect.

Just found this billed to my account.. was easy to get rid of.. call your phone company and see if they can put a ban on 900 numbers.. Embarq even took off the $6.99 that was billed to my account as long as I put the ban on 900 numbers.
It was a friend of my son's that did this.. 13 years old is old enough to know exactly what he was doing.. he is no longer welcome in my house now so I hope it was worth it too him.. his parents didnt even seem to care he did this.. I told them I would come over and call some 900 numbers on their phone and see if they thought that was funny then.

Long story short just get a ban on 900 numbers from your phone.. then you shouldn't have to worry about it

I wish not to be billed for these calls.  I found out a friend of my sons is calling this number at night after we go to bed.

I have four calls charged to my phone from this number.  I am a Senior Citizen, and most definitely would not be calling this number.

I have been an adult player on this game for 7 years.  From time to time I use the "pay by phone" method to pay for my monthly membership.  What happens is, you are given a space to type in your phone number (apparently don't have to be at the home where the number is) when you make the call you are given a code to input into the game to activate membership.   This web based game is owned by a company in the UK called Jagex.  I suggest you contact your phone company...as well as Jagex.  This way whoever is falsely using your phone number to provide their online fun, will most likely be dealt with on the Game end. Possibly losing their account for fraud. the email address for jagex is billingsupport@jagex.com. Tell them your situation.  They can trace your phone number straight to the game player and take action.  A good idea is also to put a 1-900 block on your phone.   And the Telephone company can help you get rid of the false charges.

I also think there is a way for having it billed to you, without it even coming from your phone.   So having a 1900 block on it would send up flags that someone falsely used your phone number saying it was theirs.  So if you are thinking someone is sneaking into your home especially if you don't have kids, there is a very good chance that's NOT what's happening.  

I'm sorry this has happened to those of you ... as I have said I am an adult player, and also a player moderator in the game.   These people/kids falsely putting in your phone number as theirs is wrong... contact Jagex, and hopefully they won't allow that player the option to "pay by phone" anymore, and even deal out temporarily banning them from the game or permanently.

Like:
*PayByPhone - For a 900 number you always have to pay for the minutes( + 5$ + normal phone costs)
*Subscribe by card - 5$, but you always get a message like: Runescape membership, Nickname: ........
*Pay with a wallie(card), ($or?)5,10,20 same as creditcard, but without message.
*other things like a credit card (same)

It is Runescape. The number does have to be dialed from the phone each month for the money to come out. Each time it has come out, my son has asked first and I have watched him. From the Runescape screen, after they log in and ask to pay by phone, they give you a pin #. You call the number they provide and put in the pin#. You don't get charged without the PIN being input. If the money is coming out, it is because they keep calling. The only way to stop it is to keep your kids from calling or block 900#s.
That being said, my son is grounded from the service for a month, so we will see if I get charged.

got phone bill. MCI charges for #'s 900-622-7400, 900-787-3326. Bill total for 1 minute each that none of my family made is $35.41. My phone company referred me to MCI. They said they would research the numbers and it would take 7-10 days to resolve this.

Not true, my son renewed his membership online & I have gotten this charge twice.  It also deducted the funds on my debit card.  I watched him put in my new debit card number, he had to update his account because my old card had expired.  He never called them.  So now explain to me how that happened.

Most likely someone there called for a Runescape membership..as that is the fee per month. You even have to manually enter a pin code to be charged the amount.

yup - just had my kid confess to charging Runescape membership to my phone via 900#.  Will now have 900 #'s blocked on my home phone. I found the charge and # on my phone bill.

i just got charged 6.99 for the same number.  I'm investigating it now.  Will write more when I find out more

If you don't want to receive a charge on your phone bill, never dial 900 numbers!
