I just received one of these texts.  Told them to call back after 1:00 today.  No call yet.  I to am applying for alot of ads for jobs.  This forum tells me it's just a scam.  I'll block it on my phone.

Yes, the number does have to be in your address book for your caller id to come up... otherwise, it just lists a phone number... some people are just not as bright as you and me:)

my mother in law's roommate was contacted by this "John" person looking for my mother in law because apparently she was being charged for Identity theft. Of course she didnt give them her number but she told my husband about this guy and gives him "john's" number to call and ask what was going on. So he calls and this guy tells my husband that he was an FBI agent looking for his mom for identity theft and wanted her number. So my husband calls me asking for FBI number and explains the story to them and they tell him that they had been getting a lot of calls on this number 901-290-7208. So they told my husband to give "John" FBI number in place of his mom's and so he did. A few minutes later they call my husband back telling him off, saying that he will see them soon and this and that about Americans. Of course my husband told them off back as well and they hung up on him.But my husband called them back and told "John" that he was going to call him everyday all day and see if they like it.

You do. You just don't notice it. And if anyone doesn't pay the small fee for unlimited texts in this day of age is just asking for trouble.

I'd agree with that. I never use email anymore. I only use texts to write with my friends.

There just trying to get you to go to the website and use it to look for jobs. Its a bit strange how they do it, but at one time people were wigged out by emails. Texts are the new email.

I got a text that said, "Hi, I'm Deb, your resume matches a job I'm filling in your area.  Register now at jobnab.com & we'll discuss the details if you're interested."  I went to jobnab.com, filled out the registration, and have recieved emails about different jobs.  It's not a "scam" in the sense that everyone talks of here; there's no credit card or bank info required, just your address and phone number (which I agree, is still a little scary).  It's mostly just another tool for looking for jobs.  Recently I have been applying for jobs all over the place, so there's no telling where exactly they got my name.  I am just hoping I don't start getting a zillion texts a day from them.

It is a scam.  I got text looked up jobnab.com and it is a scam.  As all the other stuff and you know what i mean it is some bs site you go on and give your info and they call and text.  Got same text from Deb I text back and told her i am reporting her number in a few choice words.  SO yes always always look up website and put scam behind it and you will see all the stuff from these sites.
good luck it is hard out there.

received a text message from deb'
"Hi, I'm Deb, your resume matches a job I'm filling in your area.  Register now at jobnab.com & we'll discuss the details if your interested."  I checked with snopes.com and found that it was not legit.  How can these people prey on the jobless and homeless like this.

Here's what happened when I went to the site. I filled out two pages of information and was given a phone number to call. When they answered the guy confirmed the information I typed in was correct and then asked me some questions about the types of jobs I wanted. Then he said they'd start sending me updates with jobs in my area that meet those requirements. I was given the option of how often I wanted those updates and i said daily. When I got the jobs a few I'd knew already, and a few I didnt. I followed the link and applied for them. Does that answer everyone's questions?

I got the text and went to the website. It's a job matching service that interviews you real quick to see what kind of job you're looking for and then sends you jobs in your area that you can go apply to.

I put "Ninja Kitten" for the name of my boyfriend in my phone and everytime he texts it says Ninja Kitten. So it's in the phone not the text.

I'm almost positive that cell phones do not have caller IDs. The number has to be in your phone.

I'm pretty sure that I pay extra to get caller ID on my phone. Maybe if you don't pay for it you don't get it.
