This number is calling around asking for my wife under her maiden name at relatives home phone numbers.
calls her cell everyday for 3 weeks and leaves no message. called my parents home and spoke when answered, would not state business, would not give a number for return call and would not explain why she called my parents home or where she got my parents number. We have been married for 4 years and never lived at the homes she is called asking for my wife. thanks for the mentioned information about companies using cell phones from different area codes.
Its easy to to deal with a professional company! whoever you are your coming across shady and crooked, you will get nowhere with these bad business tactics!!!!

Sounds like they be spoofing numbers which is a violation of the FDCPA.

Just keep a record of all the spoof calls on your caller ID and when you feel it's ripe, contact one of the attorneys you can reach on the web who take these cases for the attorney fees they will get from the A$$WIPE$.

Collection agency.  If you don't pay your bills these guys call anyone and everyone they can associate your name, address and phone number with...  They got LUCKY with me, they're looking for my EX.  Took them a couple years to find me (they said she had "listed my number as a contact at some time in the past").  My pleasure to help them anyway I can!  HAHAHA !!!!!!!  I apologize if they call you looking for her...

Got a call from this number this morning. I live in this area code, so I figured it might be someone I know (although caller id didn't show a name).  She introduced herself & asked if I was Ms. So and So (she struggled to pronounce my last name).  She was very polite,  saying she was calling from Houston, TX (Ha!); apologized for calling  & disturbing me this early in the morning.  She asked me if I knew someone by the same last name but with a different first name that lives in Florida?  I said I did not.  She apologized for bothering me and then hung up.

I had been getting two calls a day from them, one in the late morning or early afternoon hours and one between 8 and 9 pm., for about a month.  They never left a message.  Caller ID always shows "Out of Area".  I figured it was a debt collector because I've gotten over 200 calls in the last four years from various bill collectors looking for the same person.  I answered the call one night and it was an automated recording from a bill collector asking me to press 1 if I was the person they were looking for otherwise please press 2.  I pressed 2.  The second question was if you know this person please press 1 otherwise please press 2.  I pressed 2 again.  The third question was if you would like to stop receiving these calls please press 1 otherwise please press 2 to speak to an operator.  I pressed 1.  So far today I haven't received another call.

They called me and left a song on my voicemail it was very creepy. Especially the song thy was playing.

Recieved call on my cell one week ago on Tuesday, and today (Tuesday ), around the same time.

It shouldn't be legal.  I had one of them call my daughter and ask for me.  

How are they getting this information?  How are they allowed to get into our private lives and other people's private information?  This should be illegal, plain and simple.

And if they do it again, I'm going to contact the BBB and put in a complaint.

Thank you for this information and I couldn't agree with you more!  This is a new trick - they are using your local area code to trick you into answering the phone, then they connect you to the 800 number collection agency.

Food, Shelter = my priorities.  These credit card companies and their 35% interest rates are what got me over my head, once you are just a little late and they started hitting you with these fees and interest rates, there is no way to catch up!

They ask invasive questions and harass by calling dozens of times a day.  There ought to be limits on how much they can harass a person, especially during times when the economy is tough like this!

This person has called a coworker of my wife at their house looking for my wife. Is that legal?

The person on the phone asked to speak to me, then put me on hold.  This is clearly a collection agency.

This is United Recovery using a local number to track people down in the 901 area.

This is a cell phone that is being used by a collection agency. Odds are they have multiple cell phones with different area codes to contact clients with. I received a call from this number at my office today and they left a message asking me to call 888-505-1573 (there is another thread on this number) this people are very rude. they started asking questions like how much do you make, how much is in your 401k. None of which is any of their business. If a bill is owed that is great and all but these people need to understand that there are times when things happen and if it come down to paying a bill or keeping a roof over my kids head and food in their mouth then my kids are going to win everytime.

I have received calls on my cell multiple time a day and once a day at work.  They never leave a message to tell me who they are or why they are calling.  
If they are someone legitimate then you would think they would leave a message about why they are calling.
