This number comes from a Penal Institution or Jail.

I dnt know who is calling

I keep getting calls from this number, 1st one identified as coming from "Shelby Cty Jail" and wanting me to accept a collect call.  I have gotten several more, one today where the inmate identified himself as "David W....." I couldnt understand his last name.  I hung up.

For three weeks now Ive recieved a phone calls from the county jail during the weekends. This number tends to call me at least 2 to 3 times per weekend. If I could understand the name I would perphaps accept the phone call but the name sounds the same every time it calls me, mumbled. I do not have any relative nor friends in jail and I would appreciate it if this person would either pronounce their name properly to where I could understand or stop calling. If accepted the fee would cost 25 to 50 from what i understood on the phone. That fee is not worth it if I have know clue who I am speaking to or if it is just a scam all together. I am going to call the county jail to see how this person knows me and how he got my number but if I found out that this is all a scam the number will be blocked completely.

This is a collect call from a company that many jails and prisons that contract out their phones that inmates are allowed to use. If they call your cell, you will be directed to call their 800 number to prepay for the service.  If you choose to do that, you can only prepay in increments, and there is a fee that comes off the prepaid amount for every accepted call. If the inmate gets out, you dont get a refund for unused minutes.  You will receive a 2nd call from 850-532-2603 with a recording telling you what the call you received at 2am was all about. The recording offers you a way to block future calls from this inmate, or futures calls from the jail, or future calls from the Collect Call company period.

I've been receiving calls from this number since Dec 26th.  They called after 11 pm and the call said you have a collect call from ????? (was unable to understand because of the mumble)an inmate at Shelby County Correctional Center.  I accepted the call because you never know.  Once I accepted the call the guy asked for a "Chris"  I let him know he had the wrong number and hung up.  After that the number popped up on the caller id 3 more times.  Then they have been calling once a day since.  Today they didn't use the recording as a Shelby County inmate but the number I *69 because I was on a phone that didn't have caller id and the person asked for someone else that doesn't live in my house. I told him he had the wrong number again.  I just wish this will just stop because once you answer their calls they want you to ask you questions.  Don't answer any just hang up.

I just got a call from 901-507-5638 and when I said hello an automated voice said "Thank you" and hung up.  I hope that I have not accepted anything unknowingly because I do not have the money to pay for someone else's calls due to fraud.  I do not know anyone from this number and it looks like the number is the Shelby County Correctional system.  I do not know anyone in jail.

Same thing here. A call from this number with a static-filled male voice that hung up. Got the out of service recording when calling it back. I am in the Millington, TN area.

Got 4 calls early in the AM from this number, starting at 8 am.  Missed all but the last one, and I only heard the end of a recording hang up on me.  I called the number back and it said the number was "disconnected or no longer in service."
