yup....calling but no message...gets old....blocking

This comes up on my caller id as "Frat ORD Poli"

I live about 2 hours away from Nashville with my brother in the house he just finished building. Lately, we've been getting phone calls from this 901-881-9984 number, but on the caller ID it says "Frat Ord Police". The first time I got a missed call from them, I immediately called my brother thinking something horrible had happened like him getting into a car wreck or dying! So when he answered and I asked him about the number, imagine my confusion when he didn't have a clue who it was either. Anyway, I'm fed up with them calling over and over again almost every single day. I don't answer phone calls from numbers that I don't recognize and they have called every other day for the last week. I'm getting fed up with them taking over my caller ID/missed calls on my phone.Also received calls for the same thing from these numbers: 615-696-7521 and 901-881-9982.

I also received a call from that number at 5:30 yesterday. We weren't home at the time though.

In going back to review some of your blog messages and I found this number listed additionally with the original 901-881-9984: 901-881-9978. It is the same thing, my caller ID says, "St. Judes", and after calling the hospital they actually solicit you to do mailing work for them for nothing - which is unacceptable as we already are donors and I asked them to hire me! - but the recording on the other end of these numbers talks about St. Jude's and doesn't leave an option to leave a message - but I called again and this time I waited - and If you wait for about 5 seconds after the recording says, "We're sorry we missed you and will try back in the next few days" you will be prompted TO REMOVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER FROM THE SYSTEM.  Obviously, they want you to hang up before having this option so that they can legally call you over and over. This telemarketing tactic now effectively lumps St. Jude's in with the same jerk who calls me from like 10 different numbers about my heating and air duct cleaning situation!   Call Type: Telemarketer

Just got a call and my caller ID that showed "Incoming Call"  for a name and no phone number whatsoever.  I answered and a woman who spoke excellent English with a subtle Indian accent claimed she was collecting for St Jude's Hospital.    I did contribute to St Jude's  a few years ago, but stopped donating when their relentless telemarketers just wouldn't take "no" for an answer.     Seems they have no intention of stopping.    I also have to wonder about them when they start using telemarketers who disguise and falsify their name and number which I believe is against the law.   St Jude's better clean up their act if they ever want to see another nickel from me.

This is a needy cause but the constant phone calls and junk mail are way too much.
I'm going to stop giving and hope they will quit bothering me

Call 901-881-9978, listen to the spiel, don't hang up when it ends.
Wait and you will be given the chance to get off of their telemarketing list.

Such a shame that St. Jude's Hospital has fallen this far.

I have been getting this call forever and am quite tired of it.   Would like for you to be sure this does not happen anymore.  You have helped me in the past and I'd appreciate this 901 number to be kept on your list as an annoying caller.

I tried calling 901-881-9978 (as suggested by Danny J) and DID successfully remove my name from their call list however I intend to keep donating to St. Jude and I urge you to do so also.  If receiving their calls bugs you as much as it did me then by all means get your name removed from their list.

I think you should give them a break in that they surely have a worthy cause and they are just doing their job soliciting for contributions.  It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to quit donating because they are trying to get more much needed donations.

A charity really doesn't seem so attractive when you need to constantly call the people who donated to you for more money.

Yes, from St. Jude's.  I gave to them over a year ago through the mail only - started receiving the phone calls insistently since.  I will no longer give to this organization with these kinds of tactics that they use which is unfortunate because they seem to be a fine organization overall but really disappointed in how they badger people into donating!

I've been getting calls from them - my caller id simply says Memphis TN when they call. After reading Danny J's post, I called the number back and got a recorded message. Like he said, after the message there is a pause and then it goes on to give you the 'remove from list' option.
They make you jump through some hoops though: "Press 1 to remove your number from the list!" *presses 1*  ~recording plays telling you they are a children cancer charity in the hopes of making you feel guilty and change your mind. Recording then says if you are sure, press 3~ *presses 3* ~recording then requests you enter the 10 digit number you want removed~ *enters number* ~recording repeats number back to you and then says you are removed but it can take 30 days for the request to go through - they'll do their best though. It then says 'good-bye'.~ I waited a fair amount of time after that but there was nothing more. We'll have to wait and see if it worked.

I called the 800-number on Saturday and a very dumb person answered.  I, too, already donate and do not wish to be harassed by phone calls.  Will call again on Monday and will tell them that if the calls do not stop, the donations will.  Do these people not realize that this sort of solication only annoys people?

I referred to blogs above, thank you and called the 800 number Danny J noted. I actually got a live person and let him know I was laid off earlier this year and would not be able to continue to contribute. I then requested that he please remove my name from the call list.
He was very cordial and said he would. Hope so!

Yes I just received a call from this number, where a woman asked me to mail out 15 pre-stamped envelopes to "friends and family" on behalf of St. Jude's research. I hung up and called the number back and got a recording which fairly cogently talks about the mission of St. Jude's, but then at the end states "we're sorry we missed you and will try you back in the next few days" and does not offer a message system or a live human to speak with. So I looked up St. Jude's hospital in Memphis, and they are not easy to get a hold of believe it or not, but I called 800-655-1900 and reached a woman who stated that St. Jude's does in fact solicit this mailing thing. I told her that I found it obtrusive to call donors and solicit additional help, and unless they were willing to put me on their payroll, I suggested that they stop doing it because it now ranks this fine organization with your basic, garden variety phone solicitor that everyone is annoyed with. She said she would report it to her customer service department.
Again, the number to call if you get this ridiculous request from St. Jude's is 800-655-1900.

I agree with donater bvk.  I already give to them, it's a good cause, but why keep calling?  I don't answer either.

Quit cally me.  I am 74 year old, retired and ill.

If I don't recognize the number or the party calling, I do not answer.  Why do they insist on calling back over and over again?  You would think that if the party they are calling does not anwer the phone, that party does not want to talk to you.  Give UP!  I am 74 years old and retired,  What do they want from me?
