Got another call from this number..no message on machine

Got an automated message at work from this number, claimed it was for a weight loss survey.  I hung up immediately.  Odd thing is, I got a call on my personal cell phone just a minute before that from the exact same number.  How bizarre and random is that?

OCT 18, 2013 - I got a today call from 902-442-7556.

I am registered the Canadian Gov't "Do Not Call" website.

When I called the CRTC to register my complaint, they told me that in addition to complaining to them, to also publish the unwanted call numbers on websites like this one.  
For 2 reasons
  - it's a method of sharing the numbers with other members of the public so they will not pick up.
  - these sites are monitored regularly by government agencies attempting to stop annoying marketing calls, including the CRTC.

Called twice today, last time 8:55 pm. Message about weigh loss program and discount if you completed a survey. I am anorexic and on the NO Call List.

Yup this time it had to do with a weight loss survey. I was referencing the number to see what was going on.

getting calls to my phone number. the number is 902-442 8405. dead air and beeping???

Just received a call from this number. Robocall....they left a message, knew my name even though  the phone is not under my name, saying if I don't call back they will take action? I don't have ANY  unpaid bills, or anything even under my name :S

Good job!  It's a well-known fact that pressing 9 will automatically transfer your credit card number to whomever is calling!  More people need to follow your advice!

They don't need to have your phone number on a "list" before they dial it.  They typically dial these numbers sequentially.  They don't know who you are, you were just the next number to be dialed.

Who would ever use a cell phone where they had to pay for incoming calls?!

Not truthful.  Most of these people have provided NO information.  They're just wasting my time by venting themselves here.  And shame on you for voting this person down.

I live in Burlington, Ontario and receive repeated phone calls on my cell phone from an unknown number:  902-442-7556.  I cannot find this number listed or identify the caller.

I have not yet answered any of these calls, but receive regular calls from this number. I wish to report this as a nuisance call and do not wish to incur long distance charges if I inadvertently answer an incoming call.

I got a call, which luckily I did not answer, from this number.  It doesn't come up on Canada 411.  I didn't solicit this call and it is not from anyone I know.  I hope it is not a scam resulting in an inflated bill coming up on my phone bill.

Sorry using iPhone and touched something that posted my mag before I wanted to. Anyway she heard the recording say wouldn't you like to) and she hung up. I've had them call 5 mins apart. I think the whole imprisonment is going too far as our government as too much control now. But there should be something done. Like find out who it is and ban them from having a phone, something along those lines.

I've been invited to take a survey about weight loss and to try a new weight loss program... I'm 5'9" and 158 pounds. I've been training for a triathlon for the last year.

My goodness, someone needs a nap.   All these posts provide information.  Given that only a small percentage of those who receive these calls will post, even a "didn't answer, no message" post provides information about the number of calls going out.  If a number appears with only one or two posts then it's not likely an organized process...perhaps just a wrong number.  So relax, no one is hurting you by posting the information they have.  You, on the other hand are discouraging people from posting by being so nasty.  I hope everyone who gets this call will post regardless of the amount of info they have.

We have recieved approx 20 calls today from this number. No one on the other end. When we return the call the number is not in service. There appears to be no one on the line, just static and a light noise (like a bad connection)

OK folks all these calls are from CRIMINALs.

They use phone software that allows them to spoof any area code or exchange in the world.

They could be anywhere, Caribean, NIGERIA. Anywhere. I can gurantee they are not in canada, because they can never be prosecuted, located outside the country. They are after cc info or personal info.

DON'T PLAY!

Don't answer phone calls that you do not recognize. If you do answer do not give out any information at all, not even your name. Don't press one, don't call back, ignore them and let your blood pressure return to normal.

There is nothing you can do to stop the calls, so have a coke and a smile and ignore these jerks.

The DNC list is simply a reference sheet for criminals it is useless to sign up for it.

I texted this number back to say they are hanging themselves but do not answer actual phone calls. I believe they only continue to phone the ones that 'pick up' as I accidentally did once . Don't and I believe they give up

Have had several calls from this number over a year - called the number back today and got a message saying that' this number was not in service'! If it's not in service, how are they using it?

I get calls from this number and another out of Washington, D.C. - all I hear is a tone and hang up - never anyone there - I've stopped answering them.

Thank you everyone for your comments - they are most helpful.  Especially Joe A. above for providing the phone numbers for reporting these calls.   I have Call Display, so never answer any calls where I don't recognize the number.  They never leave a message so then I know they are one of these Telemarketing calls.  If you never answer, they will stop calling.  So before getting Call Display there were many of these calls because I was answering the phone so then they put you on a list (maybe even selling the list) and just keep calling.  My number is on the Do Not Call List, but they still call because they are using automatic dialing equipment that dials numbers in sequence looking for someone to answer.   They are so crafty - they find ways around any laws or protection put in place - don't think it will ever stop with technology going the way it is.  Call Display has worked for me.
