Simon-- I do the exact same thing in regards to the Legion.
I spoke to *the phone fraud squad * about this and they say its not against the law for them to solicit-we just have to refuse. Thing is- there are alot of unsuspecting (too trusting folks) out there who will donate money and quite possibly use their Credit Cards over the phone...scarey.
An interesting fact folks..........telemarketers make up to 85% of each donation we make to these organizations........Keep your money or donate to your community charities that you know will use the money to help rather than line thier pockets........

I got this caller- Steve MacLeod. Said he was calling from Monton .Soliciting fot 25$ donations to NS ground/Rescue.He couldnt give me a website or contact name so I said no thanks,

I get those calls early and late like after 8 pm, Never leave a message and after some research it comes by to Cynthia Wicks, Halifax.....addiction service. it is very annoying, I get several calls from shady numbers and resolved not to pick up my phone at all......

They pretended to be the Legion and asked for a donation, I said I would stop by my local Legion and make a donation there. That was the end of the conversation.
