I get calls now and then from 902-482-8086.  I've found out recently that the phone company who owns this number is GT Group Telecom Services Corp.   interesting enough, that company is owned by Bell Canada who acquired it in 2004.

Now here's a real twist to the story.  They offer VoIP trunk services to several VoIP companies such as VoIP.ms, Freephoneline, and a few others.   Although the VoIP companies pass the caller I'd to GT Group Telecom, GT ignores the number being passed and overwrites it with their generic number 902-482-8086.  So you could be gettings calls from a large number of people all showing up as 902-482-8086!

Something should be done to stop this.  To think Bell owns this company and Bell charges a hefty price to subscribe to their call display service.  Then Bell sends out a bogus number to anyone using their GT Telecom service.  It's just wrong.  If they blocked the number totally - that would be somewhat ok, but to send out the same bogus number for anyone using their service is definitely a problem.  You cannot call this number back.  I don't know any other telephone company who is doing this poor of a job with caller id.

Call GT Group Telecom and complain!

This is the second time I've gotten this message in about 2 weeks; a fellow with an Indian accent asked for my name, then stated that my computer has acquired problems: corrupted files, because it had been hacked into.  Because I had prevously read about this scam on this website, I again "played" with him, asking what he could do for me (well, after he said "you do have computers, don't you?").  When he told me to go to my computer and would tell me what to do, I told him to wait until I went to my computer.  I then set my phone down next to my radio speakers that were playing classical music, and I went into the other room.  I could hear his voice calling my name several times (he must have thought he caught a real sucker).  After about 5 min, there was a click; he hung up.

I should have probably simply reported him right away, instead of "playing" with him, but I at least got him away from trying to scam any others, for the next 5 min at least.  He also may have gotten the message that he, also, could be fooled by someone else.  However, I know that this won't stop him - sad.

Received a call from this number - they claimed to be from "Cardholder Services" for Visa and Mastercard (hah - first clue this was a scam!) and my opportunity to lower my interest rate would "expire soon".  When I spoke to the caller he had a thick accent and when I told him to remove my name from his calling list he just started talking over me, telling me he would have "hang up because I was making fun of him because he was retarded".  I told him three times to remove my number from his calling list before he hung up. I called the number back and the call failed.

A man with an Indian accent called my house today and spoke to my daughter, asking her questions about what she was doing and where she would be going to school. She got scared and hung up on him. If there is any way that we can go beyond this report, please inform.

Got a call today from this number.  He had an accent and claimed he was from Visa Master Card.  He was trying to sell me a device that had no name and it would save me on my power bill.  He also said that without this device, the wires in my house would have to be replaced.  I called the power company and said it was a scam, duh.  They took some information from me and are going to forward it to the propper authorities.

Before I got the call from CCCS trying to scam me, I had a call from an "unknown" caller ( caller ID). He had an Indian accent -Said my computer was reporting errors to him at the "windows security" -I asked him some questions he didn't answer convincingly so I hung up and started a virus scan -it's still going. Then I got on the interwebs and found this message board so now I am going to report him to anti-fraud. Thanks

Just got a call and after saying "hello?" Something was garbled so I said he had the wrong number. He said know he didn't and asked if I was the decision-maker of the household. I laughed and asked what this was regarding. He stumbled to let me know that he was calling about long-distance saving. I hung up.

I received a call today from this man with a very heavy accent.  Like in the above claim he called claiming there was an error on my Visa statement.  I knew it was a scam right away because the name he used was not the name on my visa.  I just hung up.

Called my house today five times. Thick indian accent. After I swore at him and hung up he kept calling back saying he was abused.

He's called saying he can see viruses on my computer and that He could fix them. He also called claiming to be from Visa/MasterCard and that there was a misprint on my bill. Funny I don't even have a credit card. He's been calling for months. I finally blocked the number. I'm unsure if it will work though. Hopefully. After I used a lot of choice words and threatened to call the police he yelled "F*** you bi***!". I love that I was able to piss him off. :D I managed to string him along and waste his time for 20mins.

I've recieved two calls from this number. They man said he worked for Microsoft and was responding to recent errors. It was pretty obvious that this was a scam, and the man really cannot communicate well in English.  I reported them to Microsoft and the Canada Anti-Fraud Centre.

I received a call very similar to the one described above. A man with a very thick accent called and said that he was calling from "Windows Security Centre" because there were errors on my computer. I knew right away that this was a scam because I have a Mac, and don't run Windows on the computer. I hung up on him.

i received a call from this number tonight, man with a thick accent telling me he was calling from microsoft and that i had "errors" on my computer and that i needed to let him into my system to fix it. this was fishy because both of my copies of windows are registered to me...not who he asked for. when i started asking questions because i knew something wasnt right he began raising his voice at me. i asked to speak with a supervisor. when i spoke to the supervisor he stated the same information that there was an error which needed to be fixed by letting them into my question. so i asked....if there is a problem with my computer that you know about, why not save time, tell me what the problem is and i can fix it myself. then he hung up on me.
