Called me to tell me that they had a case against me and that if I did not reply then they were not sure what would happen next and only God could help me now. These men Go by the last name James and the first name of the man who called me was Frank. My mother tried calling them and they returned her call at 5am threatening her and wouldn't give her any information on who they were. She gave me the advice to call the police so that there was a report filed just in case they tried to use any information they might have on me for illegal purposes. I urge everyone else who gets a call like this to do the same.

I had a voice mail from Officer Kevin Smith Financial Crimes Investigations with one of worst accents I have ever heard and the message stated that I was going to be arrested. I called this idiot who was pretending to be a police officer.
He stated that I had committed internet fraud internationally and I could resolve this matter by speaking with his supervisor. He was calling from 903-841-5171. Before he got to the money part I shot him down and told him I was calling the police. He had my name and social security number and thats alarming.
I have spoken 4 times with the Police in Longview Tx. and I hope and pray they locate and arrest these scammers Oddly enough when I called back the same guy said he had never heard of Kevin Smith!

I asked her to give me a phone number to call her at and when she did, I started to call from my cell phone while I had her on the line, and it was ringing a fast busy signal.I then asked her if she was calling from a reputable company, why didnt she have multiple lines and to let me speak with her supervisor. Same thing. The guy stated that he was going to take me to jail and I could avoid it if I paid X amount of money now.  I threatened him back...I work for a federal government agency and my office security is looking into it as well as the Washington FBI and my local Police department.

IT IS A FRAUD...DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFO and contact TransUnion and put a fraud alert on your accounts, tell you bank that this has happened, tell the local police and go to ic3.gov to report the incident.

Same as above comments I was called by a man who was trying to get information about my roommate said that my roommate had used my name for illegal documents and that I need to give them information about her. Then the phone went silent I called back the number only to get an answering machine. Called my roommate and she told me that it was a fraud company and not to give them anything. I called the police, ss office, my phone company, and credit company to safe guard myself. The police can not do anything this is a federal matter and they are probably working through the number. This is ridicules enough people have complained why hasn't anything been done. I called the number back and told them that the feds were hot on their trail and that they would no longer get any information on me or my roommate (which they didn't have except our names) and that we were tracing the number. The person on the other end laughed called me stupid and said there was nothing we can do to close them down. With that said this means they do not care if the number is traced, because they are not in the U.S. and to track them over seas would be near impossible, ugh how frustrating!!!

Just received a call from a man with a strong Indian accent, claiming to be Officer Robert Ridgemond. He said that he worked for the U.S. Investigation Bureau in the Crime Prevention Department.( to the best of my knowledge there is no such government bureau) He said that a friend of mine listed me as a reference on a "legal document" and that she was under investigation for fraudulent activity. He said I needed to cooperate with him and tell her to call him back. At the end of his message he said "Call me back..till then God wish you good luck."  Creepy!

I got a call from a Officer Robert Richmond who threatened to have me arrested if I didn't pay back an old payday loan.  I was stupid and made payment arrangements, but then called the police and found this to be a fraud.  Charges are filed against them and GOD Bless Chase bank, they reversed the payment and are doing an investigation of their own.  He had my full SS#, my old banking info and complete address DOB.  This is really really scary and I hope we can somehow stop this guy.

Got a call from 903-841-5171 from someone claiming to be Officer Robert Richmond from the Crime Prevention Unit of the US Bureau of Investigations in Texarkana.  Very heavy Indian, maybe Pakistani, accent to the point you almost could not understand him. Also called one of my friends claiming that I was being investigated for fraud and "she better cooperate" with him.  Totally a scam!  I am reporting the call to the FTC - not sure if anything can be done, but if enough people report perhaps the FTC will take notice.

Today is July 1, 2010 and at about 9:15 a.m. a call was transferred to me through reception.  The receptionist stated that a "Kevin Smith" was calling me.  I figured it was work-related so I took the call even though I had never heard of that person.  I stated my first name and with a very heavy Indian accent, the man stated, "Uh, hello ma'am, dis is Officer Kevin Smith calling from the Bureau of Investigations and I need to let you know that I have received many criminal complaints against you, ma'am, and you will soon be prosecuted."  I said, "What?"  He went on, "First, ma'am, I need you to verify your social security number with me, please confirm your social security number so I can verify it is you."

I told him that first of all his name is NOT Kevin Smith and I don't know why he is lying to me, claiming to be someone from some bogus office seeking my social security number.  I told him I wasn't giving him ANYTHING and he needs to tell me what he was trying to do and to give me more information about these supposed criminal complaints against me, like a case number and in which supposed court these complaints were being filed against me in.

He very rudely told me that his name IS Kevin Smith and sarcastically replied, "Do you want me to repeat it for you?"  He told me he wasn't going to give me any info until I verified my social security number with him.  I told him that he's calling a government office and that he has no business calling about non-work-related issues and that he better put anything he has to say to me in writing and not call my place of business again and I hung up.

Like the rest of the situations posted on this site, it's very alarming when a complete stranger posesses your name, work number and especially when they state the last 4 digits of your social security number.  Who knows what other info they have - very alarming!!  I find it hard to believe that these bad people cannot be stopped.

These guys are no joke and are scammers. However, once you key in on the accent and bu***hit attitude no professional would exhibit, they're actually fun to play with.   When I'm in the mood, I humor them and make fun of their accents and really try to hurt their feelings.  They get all your information from internet applications that you may have filled out on insecure sites(solicitations for cash advances, etc.) When they first called me back in Mar. or April I was furious and paranoid.  I froze my accounts and called everyone for advice.  They are looking to prey on the naive and elderly. They had my sisters number and other information I finally recalled filling out online. Nothing they say is true. They can do nothing from the phone.  Ask them to mail you any documents.  Give them an attorneys number or email.  Unfortunately, I don't see them stopping the harassment and there is nothing we can do to stop it.  The latest number they've used is 646-873-6707.  It says NewYork on the caller ID but I don't think that is legit.

Here is a copy of an e-mail I sent the Public Inquire Unit Attorney Generals Office state of Clifornia.  This guy Federal Officer Frank Jones is a fraud. There is no such US crime Breau and he is impersonating an officer.  I hope he goes to jail for a long time.  He harassed my daughter and threatened her.  She worked for the D.A.'s office for 16 years.  He called a wrong number when he harassed me and my children.  I will not stop until I know this jerk is safe in jail.  I urge anyone to send an e-mail to piu@doj.ca.gov .  I called the Office of Attorney General of the state of California and was given this e-mail adress to send a complaint.  Need more to do the same.  Please read on.

Dear Friend,

I understand that you are very busy, I need your help, please.

I received more than 10 calls from 510-214-8919, A man with an Eastern Accent, not Eastern USA, Eastern World. Claiming to be Officer Frank Jones.  He started yelling at me babbling about sending the police after me, he was sending the police to my employer today and to my home.  I tried to get him to slow down and tell me what he wanted from me.  I was traveling on I-40 Mojave Desert; I kept losing signal.  He left a message stating he did not appreciate me hanging up on him and he was going to send the police and take me to the local jail, and court.

My truck broke down in Barstow, CA. So I had time and signal to call him at the number he left on my voice mail.  Every time I asked him what he wanted from me, he just wanted my credit card number to pay a debt, but he would not tell me what the debt is. I tried to get him to tell me his company name.

I looked up the web page for the Office of the Attorney General of the state of California.  I called him back and I told him I had the web page in front of me of the California Attorney General Kamala Harris.  He thought Mrs. Harris was a Mr. and my Attorney.  He said that He (Kamala Harris) was full of profanity profanity, and I didn't know what the profanity I was talking about.  I asked if he was a law enforcement officer.  He said he is a law enforcement office and represents "US Crime Bureau".

I told him I had in front of me the collection laws for the state of California.  I asked him for a mailing address where I could send a certified letter.  He refused to give me an address.  He used profanity with first letter "F" and more and continued to make threats to me about sending the police after me.

Oh, he said that he couldn't give me information right now, because he was on Facebook and asked if I use Facebook.  That is when I hung up.  TDTC...Too Dumb To Continue.

Sum it up...I am a 65 year old female.  I believe he got my name off the internet, maybe inquiring about medicare supplement or something, I don't know.
I believe he thinks I am dumb because I am a USA Female and I will pay him to keep my credit good and because he is threatening me.  I believe he is in the business of taking advantage of elderly women.  (I don't think of myself as elderly, this is my first time being old, not used to it yet.)
He never told me where I owed a debt, who I owe, where to send payment, just that he wanted me to pay him NOW with a credit card.

I did a reverse people find with his phone number.  I could only get a location on a map in Oakland, CA

Federal Law Enforcement Officer Frank Jones, 510-214-8919, Says he represents "US Crime Bureau".  That is all the information I could get.  No way is this guy's name "Frank Jones".  Please stop him from harassing me.
