We also had to call the FCC to file a "spoofing" complaint bc the caller used our number as caller ID, even though he left the 904 area code number to return the call. Don't think complaining here is the end of it. Do all you can to put a stop to the scammers! There ARE lawful agencies that will help. You just have to take that extra step.

They left a message using 3 different names...Captain Tony Harkin, Clark something $ Stewart Black claiming they we're from BROWARD County Sheriffs Dept. They threatened me that they we're going to arrest me. Very heavy Indian accent. They should be arrested for harassment &  impersonating to be the police. This is not the 1st.time they Tryed to pull  crap. They also call & say u owe money for a payday loan u took out online. I don't know how they even got to leave their message.as I only allow my contacts.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

Got a voicemail claiming to be officer mark morrison from missouri pd its bull dont fall for this scam. The guy barely spoke english.

Call today from a Deputy John Morrison stating I owe a cash advance loan in the amount of 300 to 700 wasnt sure on amount to contact 9044102217 ask for officer Mark Willaims within 2 hours or will have local police come and arrest me.

I just received the same letter. Now Mr. John Smith claiming that he is the senior lawyer from Holland and Hart. Here's what I did. I just forward the e-mail I just got from him to the FBI. Locally and Head quarter in Washington. Make sure you mention on you e-mail that was what you just received.

I have received this call today twice on my cellphone and at my job. The told me I had an active warrant I called the Police Department none of the people they listed worked there. I have received these calls from  the 9044102217 they claim to be working on the Federal Court level. How can I get these people in trouble this caused panic and craziness

Yes i receive the same email from one James brown  saying that I going to be arrested  if I no pay some money and they will suspend my ss# I get so nervous that I don't know what to do is kind of crazy call but serious really scary so I go to the police department to make the report cuz they have all my information I don't know how but they have if they keep calling me I don't know what to do can't you guys replay to me ASAP

Received a phone call from 911 on my cell phone, I have a 21 year old so of course I answered.  I had some reservations about answering but there was just enough doubt to make me answer.  I should have known as soon as they spoke to hang up, it was Officer John Morrison with the Louisiana State Police, said there was an criminal investigation on me and that I should call 904-410-2217 to clear the matter up.  Said alot of other things but the accent was so heavy that I missed half of it.  This really ticks me off, these people should be ashamed of themselves, but of course since they are scum they don't care about scaring people.

I just got one of these in my email today, this one is from John Smith, Senior Affidavit Processor State Investigation Department Utica, NY Contact:  904-410-2217 #2058/Fax:  206-462-3556.  The letter is identical to what is already shown on this thread, the only difference is the phone number (the fax is also identical).  When I looked up the phone number on this site, it states it is a Jacksonville, FL number, so this has to be another scam.  They also operate under another number, which appears to be a Syracuse, NY number - 315-507-8391.    

Several years ago, these individuals were calling my work and home and threatening to have me arrested and taken away in a police car if I did not respond within 20 minutes to their messages.  I ended up filing a complaint with the state of NY, the state of Illinois and the Attorney General of the State of Illinois.  My husband called the Attorney General of Illinois and they instructed us to file another complaint and call the phone company to have this number blocked.  I will also check with the state of NY to see if another complaint needs to be filed with them again.

Got the letter from John Smith, as well as the phone call from some suppose to be a Detective Morrison from the State Police department.  Saying I owed money and a warrant for my arrest was being issued with the Portsmouth Police Department.  I have dealt with this for the last 6 months and have actually had a Police Officer from Portsmouth speak with Mr. Smith and Mr. Morrison and was advised to stop calling me.  My next step is to contact the FCC or someone since they are pretending to be federal and state agents.  So sick of it

I can't answer the question of how they got the number, but please keep an eye on your credit report. If something shows up that you do not recognize, please dispute it and place flags on your credit report with Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

I've been dealing with this for 2 years. Today I got an email from a "John Smith" they have my ssi# and everything. John claims he's and attny general & I will be prosecuted in court in a few days if I do t call him & get this matter taken care of. Called back & it's a person with a heavy Indian accent they're claiming to be from the state investigation apartment.
