UPDATE: ecomputingservices.com has a NEW NAME: Windows Services Centre... called AGAIN ON July 24- from California - claiming I OWED them $80 and MUST continue to use their 'service' as I had electronically signed a contract of agreement. Called OPP as the East Indian accent also stated my Windows software was ILLEGAL!! I'll pass that along to Dell...

I GOT scammed for $80 in Apr. 2011 by www.ecomputingservices.com  BUT, on June 21, 2012, my husband received a call from this same outfit (the bum sounded to be of E. Indian)claiming they were going out of business & wanted to refund my $80!!
What I believe they wanted was my NEW Visa number which I changed after I learned of the scam. Just to let people know - THEY'RE STILL OUT THERE - somewhere! BEWARE

Looks like a common theme here.

These kind of calls are called spearhead phishing and the caller wants you to go to their website. This is so that they can connect to your computer and put a Trojan virus on your computer to collect and send your personal information... this in turn can be used for identity theft / crime fraud etc.

It is recommended on the Canadian RCMP website (yes, I am Canadian) that any suspicious calls like this should be reported to your local law enforcement.

What happened to me:
I received a call on Aug 8, 2011 at 11:19 AM from Andy Peterson, a so called service rep from "Ecomputing Services" and he stated that there was some malicious code coming from my computer. He wanted me to go to my computer and long in. Of course I thought there was something was out sync here because the caller had an East Indian accent and the number he claimed he was calling from was not the number on my call display. He said his number was 904 425 9992 but my call display said 1.253.802.0308 Washington. I also know something was out of wack because I have a properly set up firewall and the latest version of Norton running on my computer.... so if anything was wrong, I would know about it first hand and I should not be receiving calls to tell me something was wrong.

I hope we all can help put a stop to this ongoing criminal activity.

I also just received a call from someone at this number that said I was having a virus problem and they wanted to access my files to correct the problem.  I could barely understand the person thru their thick asian accent.  He said he was was calling from  Inc computing access support and was working with Microsoft .  I hung up and googled it, obviously a scam.

I also received a call from them, telling me my computer was not fully protected as they were receiving malicious error warnings or something like that.  The guy identified himself as Simon, technical department of e-computer.  When asked if he was selling something, he said No.  When he asked me to go to my computer to verify a few things, I said NO.  The guy had an Indian accent or similar.

I too received a phone call from 904-425-9992.  The person identified himself as working for E. Computing Services out of Jacksonville, Florida.  I was told that each time I used the internet I was downloading errors and other unwanted information.  He wanted me to go turn on my computer and log onto the internet so that he could show me where this unwanted material was in my computer. When I didn't say 'no' he got his 'supervisor' who identified himself as "james cook'. They both spoke very fast and had foreign accents.  It seemed suspicious, plus I could hear more telemarketers in the background.

I just had a call from the same number - 904-425-9992...at 10:30 pm.   It didn't show up on call display but the person identified himself as being from the Computer Maintenance department and he was calling to help me with issues I've been having with my computer.  I really wanted to believe it was true because I am have computer problems but it screamed scam to me so I asked him what company he was calling from.  He said  "Windows".  Then I asked for his number so I could call him back.  When it wasn't a toll free number I told him it sounded like a scam and he hung up on me.

I received a phone call from 904-425-9992 telling me they were a computing service company doing computer maintenance.  They see that I have an error.... unique class i.d. generated (didn't understand his garble).  The man who called I could not understand what he was saying, I think he was from India Pakistan.
I told him I had to discuss this with my husband and could I call him back.  His name was James Crook (I think that is his last name, very fitting) and that he was in Jacksonville, Florida.

Of course I did not call him back and I certainly want to report him to whomever.  I'd like to know how he got my name and phone number!!

I did, too, receive a phone call from this company, telling me that I had files infected, that my system had sent a message to their system saying so. They were asking me wich windows version I had, in order to help me identify the files infected. The thing is: I use an Apple system, so their thing was not working anymore. They didn't seem to know how to show me the problem. Also, the quality of the line was really bad, what makes me think it's a bad joke. I phoned Apple after and checked my computer with them: nothing's wrong.  So I think this is all a bad joke...

My mother was called by this number.  They said something about errors she's getting that are emailing them, and that she needs to update the warranty on her software or something or other.  Google search says this number belongs to EComputing Services (www.ecomputingservices.com).  They're trying to sell their service under the guise of telling you that you have problems.
