Rude and sarcastic man with thick accent, claiming to be "Mike Oliver"  said he was from "D Capital" and that I had been approved for a loan of $2-7K.
He had my name, address, and home number correct.  He had my email wrong, though.  What he had was a portion of a password that I had used the day before for an airline frequent flier log-in.  This worries me a lot.
He was a total scum-bag.  Amazing that he gave me his phone number and that he's used it so many times.

This person, who does NOT identify himself, sounds like he is from India, calls almost every day BEFORE 8A.M!! And sometimes around 6:30 A.M!!! There is a LAW regarding what time they can call and how many times as well.
Now these jack-a$$es are trying to collect on a bill for a bad car accident we got into, That is still being handled by our attorneys. Since we were the ones hit, by a taxi cab, any and all bills go straight to the attorneys & are all on LIEN. Apparently this guy thinks that I have to shell out thousands to him over the phone. My attorney said, absolutely NOT. So, we have a list of all their harassing calls, what dates & times.. We are going to go ahead and let this douche-bag call a few more times, let him know WE are recording him, for legal purposes and then file suit against this company.
I think everyone who is getting harassed should do the same thing! They can NOT call in excess and calling before 8 A.M is against the Fair Credit Act....

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Same thing just happened to me. Paul Walker. When I pressed for more info he asked for my email so he could send it to me, which I refused. I said if they have all this legal info to send it to my home address (I would think that if it is legit and you owe money, they would already have your home address) He did not respond, just asked again for my email.

I have read before that with regards with collection agencies, that unless these companies have a claim in writing and mail it to you, they can say all they want on the phone.

Don't be bullied

I received a call from a guy who called and said his name wall Paul Walker.  He did not and would not give any other information.  When I tried ot get information from him he refused.  I refused to tell him who I was and insisted that he tell me what the call was in reference to.  He wouldnt.  Then he hung up the phone.  He did not call back.  I tried to call the number back, I blocked my number but the call would not answer.  I searched the internet for responses and I see the log of responses on this site.  So i decided to write a response to let others know that may have the same problem or receive the same disturbing call from this person.  Beware.

I just got a call from this phone number from a Lee something with a thick middle eastern accent.  He called me at work and said I had a case filed against my name and social for 2 cash advances from Cashnet USA or something like that.  I have borrowed money before but have paid them off a long time ago.  He also gave me a case number?  I told him I was at work and he'd have to call back later because I didn't know what he was talking about first of all, and that I wasn't able to talk about it at work.  I'm not really sure what to think now...

I also started getting these calls from Paul Walker with a very thick middle-eastern accent.   He asked me to confirm the last 4 of my SS# and when I refused, he told claimed to be from a "federal agency".  When I asked him to identify which agency, he would not tell me and began threatening me.  I told him I knew he was a scammer, he was committing a federal felony and that I had his number on my caller ID and was going to report him to the FBI. He called back immediately so this time I answered using the name of my firm (a huge law firm if California) and this time he hung up and hasn't called back.  I did report him to the FBI and FCC.

I received a call today at my work saying I had to pay a cash loan that I didn't receive. They could not tell me an amount or a date which I "supposedly" received this money. Got very nasty with me when I started to question them, I knew it was a scam from the beginning because I've never received a payday loan. But what is scarey is they have my SS# and my work phone number but I noticed they didn't have my last name. Was also told his name was Paul Walker but was given to someone else that went by the last name Foster.

A local nursing home where a client of mine (I am an attorney.) works has had over 150 calls TODAY from this scammer.  The local police are now involved.  Finding these reports based on the telephone number is what has convinced us that this is a complete scam, in spite of the outrageous and ridiculous threats - including physical assault and arson - these guys (also a "Marcus Willson") have made.  Mr. "Willson" even threatened a police officer who called him.  Thank you for maintaining this information.

I have received several telephone calls from Paul Walker.  He calls daily and sometimes 3-4 times a day.  I finally answered the call and informed him that he was in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.  He became very argumentative and stated that he was an attorney and that he wanted his money! Who does this kind of none sense?

Just remember, debt is a civil not a legal matter.  No one can put you in jail or arrest you for debt.  These are junk debt buyers who hope to make a lot of money by harassing everyone they can whether you are the legitimate debtor or not.  They often try to scare family (particularly the elderly) into paying debts that have been "written off" by the original debtors years ago.  Don't give them ANY information.  Don't even acknowledge your relationship with the person they seek.  Don't give them your name.  Just hang up or better still, don't answer calls unless you know the identity of the caller.
