I got a call from an incoming 911 call, at first when I answered the man said if I could help him, I explained he had the wrong number and I hung up. The 911 call kept coming & coming back to back, I didn't answer it. Next  thing I know the call comes to my EXT. at work the same 911 call. I pick up and get told  that this Mr. Gruper from the State of the Bureau of Investigations has a case against me, so I called the number he gave back to me. When I asked what was this about he told me there was complaints  against me, one with a United and I told him that I never dealt with this co. He then told me I had check fraud, I explained No I didn't. I gave him the number of who I dealt with and told them that it was paid and I had the paperwork to prove it. I then told them that, that the co. told me not to listem to them that they are scam artist and do not give them any information. He got quiet, he then told that if he calls this co. and they tell him the debt isn't paid he will call the police and have me arrested. I told him to go ahead, I also told him I would press charges against him for harressment. My job is aware of the situation and try and block the numbers so they will leave me alone at work. These people need to be in Jail ASAP!!!!

Got a call today on my cell from 911 I answered it thinking that something may have happened to someone in my family they said that they were calling from the LSP and that I had to call the Mr. David Cooper at 1-904-436-9001 and make arrangements to pay 200.00 for Cashnetusa and that the debt would be wiped out and I had unitl  11am tomorrow to do this or that I would be arrested.  They said that there was 5 federal warrants out on me.  Scared me half to death.  I contacted my financial advisor that I am working with and they said to not answer the phone if they called back that it was a scam and that if someone took me to jail for this that to call him and he would come and get me out.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I first received a voicemail from '911' saying that I had several complaints made against me and they have issued a warrant for my arrest.  The guys name was "Deputy Mike Watson" and said I was to call a Daniel Richards at this number.  They're very persistent!  I called my cousin who works at 911, total scam.  And any warrants for your arrest will go to the county that your drivers license is listed.  Called my friend who works there, and nothing!  Never give out your information over the phone!

There is nothing they can do to you. Let them know the next time they call you are aware they are running an extortion scam, have called the police and hang up. If push comes to shove, have your phone number changed to an unlisted one.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

I received call today from a Fulton county sheriff using my local sheriff office number stating I was under federal arrest and to call Daniel Richards at 904-436-9001. They said I owed 4800 to united cash advance and I have never used their service. Unfortunately, they don't know I got connections with law enforcement and have reported them to federal bureau. Something is up when a sheriff calls for federal matter. That would be US Marshall affair. I hope they get caught and placed under prison.

first call was 911 emergancy and i answered thinking that something was wrong. the call was from a samuel baxter and he was with the missouri department of investigation and that i needed to call a david cooper at this number.  I called and they said that they were with the fed state bueau of investigation and that the call was going to be recorded by the fbi and the fcc.  Apparently i had taken out a payday loan and have failed to pay back.  the loan was from united fast cash.  i have never heard of the company at all and I know who i've taken loans out from in the past.  I called the FBI in my state and explained the information and they said that it sounds like a scam.  the state nor the federal gov will get involved in making anyone pay for a payday loan.  it is a small claims court or a collection agency.

Got a similar call on the night of Oct.5  initially from an unknow female caller with a very heay indian accent, instructing me to call this number to speak to a Mr. O'Brian who informed me that there was a case against me and I could settle for $985.25. I told him that I had no money and might be able to pay on Oct. 8.   Unfortunately,  I was caught off guard with the first call from another number on Oct. 5 which I stupidly fell for and sent money-it was so intimidating and horrible,  I was immediately alerted when the call came from this number later that night with a similar case scenario, I realized that this was a scam.  I then took the internet and have been reading extensively so today when they called back I did not pick up and a "Mr. Harris left a voice message (they seem to have a vast collection of names) from the "State Bureau of Investigation" calling to find out if I would be sending the money today, even if was $300.00 towards settling the case.  I have already filed a police report and placed an alert on my file with the credit bureaus--I was shocked at how that first caller was providing me with my personal information also the caller form this number, who said he was calling from Florida. As I have since been reading extensively about this scam and how persistent they can be with the calls, I just took steps to block any future calls with instructions from my phone company. I will also be contacting the FTC as I have seen that they are already investigating these particular scams so the more people report to them the more evidence they will have. It is very disturbing that they are using the names of govenment agencies and other legitimate companies to carry out these scams.

Got a call today saying that if I did notreturn this call I would regret it, so I called the number and they told me that this Kenneth Jackson was calling from Largo Florida Police Dept, callng in refernce to a claim that has a criminal charge for it, this Kenneth then proceeded to connect me to his boss (Daniel Richard) I could not understand one word he was saying so each time I asked him to repeat his self he would get mad, eventual he tranfered me to anothe person. The call was about money that was deposit into my account and this payday loan company sent my information to them because they can not get me to pay the loan..I politely told them that they was telling a g--d--n lie. I was old that if I did not resolve this problem today the will have no other choice but to send the police o my house and have me arrested.
Now I wanted to play they game. so I said that I do nt give out my information to peolpe over the phone.so how can I resolve this issue. I was told that he did not want my checking acct infomation nor did he want creditcard information, so how would I pay? I was told that I had to deposit into they account or do a money pack, I asked him what the f--k was a money pack,I told him that I would call back as soon as I got a pencil and paper to write the information down. He told me that he was calling from jacksonville,Florida.I have 5 felonies charges that would amount to a felony case. He gave me acase number and that I was looking at serving many years in jail if I dd not take care of this today.
