ID Says Wachovia, nobody is on the line, I call back and get a computer tone. I have reported this phone number to the Florida Consumer Affairs department.

I called back and they said it was Wachovia, requesting SSN or account number. Having checked the site, I was wary to provide such information, and just gave my name instead. They did know my account information and account balances after giving them that, so it seemed legit to me.

Set up selective call rejection service with your home phone provider, and block the number. If they start rotating numbers, most phone service providers will now let you wildcard block an entire exchange, or even better, an entire area code. I've found the area code wildcard block to be the most effective defense.

Okay, so i DO owe wachovia some money on my credit card but I'm glad to know this is a fake - I've worked out a deal with the REAL wachovia so i was wondering why they were still calling me. Good thing i didn't give anything out. What I've done is saved the number under the name FAKE CALL and given it a silent ring so it no longer annoys the s*** out of me and wakes the baby up every night and just ignore them. Works like a charm, although i wish they'd quit calling.

I am officially being harasses by 904-489-8099! The calls began about a week ago, and now the automated call is hitting my phone every 45 minutes. The recording says exactly what the others reported -- that I owe a payment on my line of credit, which I don't have. I called Wachovia, and they said everything is in good standing with my account and that I did the right thing by calling them about it. I gave the number to one of their managers, and I don't know if they can do anything, but DO NOT provide information to that call. Obviously, this is a hoax.

Got an automated call from this number last night 3/05/08 and thought it might be legitimate until they asked for the last 4 digits of my social, whereupon I hung up.
This morning my wife got the same call before 9 AM from this number. Although the called-Id said Wachovia

They called me three times today...starting at 9 and just now at 7, I googled the number and luckily this page came up! I decided to private my line by dialing *67 904-489-8099. What tipped me off was a sketchy recording of "Thank you for calling Wachovia Bank" I was then "transferred" to the next available representative, whom I asked "Is this really Wachovia?" his response of course was yes. I then asked "Where is your headquarters?" "Jacksonville" I knew this was false and told him "No, sorry it's Charlotte" and hung up.
I immediately called 1 800 Wachovia, and they confirmed it was fraudulent...I passed the number onto them, so hopefully they can do something about it, I just hope they stop calling me!

Got a missed-call from this number today. I called it back from my work line and the customer service rep said "thanks for calling wachovia"...I hung up and didn't get any further info.
Every other time I've had to call Wachovia, it's thru a 1-800 #.

I got a call from this number today, claiming to have "important notices about my Wachovia account". It asked for the last 4 digits of the SSN, at which point I hung up and called Wachovia. They confirmed that the call was fraudulent.
The Wachovia rep called this number to see what would happen, while I was on the line. It answered with some goofy bank name, and would never transfer outside of the automated system. Of course, there's no way to know if the number on the cell was accurate; there are plenty of systems out there to spoof the Caller ID.

They keep calling my cell and work phone telling me that my credit card limit is over and that I need to pay immediately over the phone. I've spoken with my credit card company and they denied it.
