Just got a call from Mr Alan Robert who said he was from attorney Jones, Myers, and Associates. He said on 2/2006 I took out a Internet Payday loan for $800 via the internet, using my checking account as collateral...??? Used some company name of "BMG" was the plaintiff. He said if I didn't pay $2512.10 tonight, there would be a warrant out for my arrest at midnight tonight. He sounded legit and used all the correct terminology but I didn't use the computer back then OR have a checking account. His number, 281 670-9701 is a landline out of Houston, TX but there have been others out of Jacksonville FL. I reported him to the BBB And consumer affairs. And will notify all 3 credit bureaus. Thanks for your info.

Because he has all of your info, please take it a step further and place alerts on your credit report with Experian,TransUnion,and Equifax. This will require companies to verify that it is really you should anyone try to take out credit cards,loans, etc in your name. This protection is free of charge and lasts for six months. It can be extended if needed.

This is not legit company. They called threated civil and criminal action on a Pay Day I paid of in 2009. Tried to deduct money out of my account they were not authorized to do, but thanks to my small town bank where everyone knows your name, I informed them I had spoken with an attorney who investigated them and determined they did not exist. My call came from the same number same people but claiming to be Northwestern Recovery Group. Many of these groups are not legit and claim to be. They use scare tactics and threats to get you to pay. DO NOT PAY THEM A PENNY. If your worried call an attorney. Look up your laws regarding return checks on Payday loans, many states stated that crinimal charges can not be brought against you for not repaying a payday loan, only civil suits. If your unsure of a debt always question it. Know your Fair Debt Collection Act. They cant not threaten you with criminal charges, or other things unles they can verify that the debt is actually yours. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a few minutes and fill out the complaint forms through your Attorney Generals office and Federal Trade Commission. This is the only why to get this groups investigated and stopped. You can be compenstated up a $1000.00 per every occurance that they violate the Fair Collection Protection Act.  Do your research people. They violated my rights 8 times in one recorded  (I recorded) conversation. They accused me of having a $1700 debt and I am suing them for $8000. Wonder who came out ahead.

TO ALL POSTERS.....i hate to admit it, I used to be an employee for this company.  I quit after learning that they are really scammers.  Through present and past employees I have learned that both owners, Darren Abrams and Chauncey Thompson are ex convicts who have been to jail over financial schemes.  They met in jail and started a company together when they were released.  DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY.  They even have a FAKE "business license" posted in the office. they collect time barred and non existent pay day loans.  they even get "accounts" from a connection at the social security office.  I am sorry that I even worked for them at all but i quit as soon as i found out!!! PLEASE DONT FALL FOR THEIR SCHEMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

This company called me too. I had no clue what it was about, besides the fact that I live in a 2 family house and they left messages on the phone of the people who live downstairs...for me and then shortly after for my sister (who lives in another state and would never have the same address or phone number as me.) Nothing is adding up, and every thing i've looked up about it says it's a scam..just glad i googled it before anything happened! People are so sick.

I can't remember the young lady's name, but she is quite rude, not only that but she misrepresented herself as an attorney, and also stated that  I had 24-hours to respond otherwise legal action would be taken. I called back within the 24-hour window and she stated that my paperwork had already been processed for my arrest lol! I asked her what the matter was related to, and she stated that it was a payday loan from 2009. She gave me an address that wasn't mine, and told me that they would be willing to settle for $480 bucks! It took me a while, but why in the heck would a law office be willing to settle for less than the amount owed?! I asked that she send me something in writing to verify that the dect is actually owed to me and she refused! Under the fair collections debt act 15:1692, I am entitled to written verfication of the debt that it owed. I am seriously filing a complaint!

I used to work for this company. They are low life debt buyers that pay their employees with worthless checks theirselves. Then when they get asked about why a "payroll" check was returned, they say they will give you the $ in a couple of weeks. I had to go so far as to hire an attorney and I tell you, when they are done with this company, they won't have a leg to stand on. They tell their employees to make threats and the people running and operating it are inexperienced theirselves. DO  NOT PAY THEM! Just do your research. They will make blank threats and say things will happen, but payday loans are NOT illegal and legal action can NOT come from you giving your banking information to obtain the loan. You will NOT go to jail and you will DEFINATELY not have a warrant. If anything, they need to have a warrant issued on them for not paying their employees!!!!

Just received a phone call from JOnes and Myers claiming I owed 560 for a old payday loan, then proceeded to tell me he was issuing a warrant for my arrest and I had one hour to pay up or make payment plans. His name is Nathan Davenport, his number was 9046479953 - and he gave me this number to call back on 855 809 7890, what is wrong with these people. Even if it was a loan, claimed since 2008, why havent it been wrote off because on my credit report it is a charge off.

Oh, and by the way. I told one of these scammers to send me proof and everything else that is included in my last post and they said they would email me the info.
What they sent could have been put together by anyone with a computer. Didnt have any business address or any information outside of what I had put on my payday loan over a year ago.
Think about it. If you were late with a payment or fell behind with the original company that loaned you the money I think they would have tried calling you or getting in touch with you. You would remember them and have proof in your bank account of their deposit.
