I think that the same guy is pulling a different scam in the UK under the name of Bruno Martin - I spotted an ad for an Audi in Auto Trader - private seller with just an email address.  I emailed my interest but queried why the vehicle was so cheap.  Within a couple of hours the ad disappeared from Auto Trader.  Below is the response I got from him.  Being in the UK I am not familiar with Escrow although it sounded genuine.  As I was concerned that it all seemed too good to be true I goggled it and became aware that scam escrow sites exist, which I'm guessing is what I would have had from him.  BEWARE

Hi there,

First I want to thank you for question about AUDI A4 2.0 TDI S LINE 2DR. The car is in perfect condition.

The total price is £5,300 including delivery to your address. Price reduced for a quick sale.

This is my first time selling a car over the Internet and i think the best way is to use a third party company that protects buyers and sellers, called Escrow.
They inspect the car for damages and the mechanical condition before starting the transaction, they will also give you a 5 days inspection period (this means that after you receive the car and papers, you have 5 days to use it and if something goes wrong or if the car is not as described by me ,you will get your money back).
I have all the papers signed and I'm ready to make a deal as soon as possible. The delivery will take no more than 2-3 days and the car will be dropped at your home address .
So, if you really want it you can be able to have it in no time.
I am not either so constantly in UK, because of the nature of my work and this is the reason why i prefer to use third party company.

If you are interested in buying it then i will wait for your answer to tell you how Escrow works.

Cheers!

Thank you so much pals. I just sent a stinker to him about 45 minutes ago. The fleecing b*****d introduced himself to me as Sgt Jae Miller of U.S. marine corps attached to an expeditionary battalion on phoney mission to Libya. My prayer is that unsuspecting folks with gullible minds shouldn't'fall into his dragnet before nemesis catches up with him.

I recevied these two emails with regards to our fire truck for sale online on ebay:

Joe Roland <Joeroland1@gmail.com>
Hello,

Do you still have the ( 1951 FORD FIRE TRUCK ) advertise for sale?

Please advice on final price and I will appreciate more pictures.

Thanks

Hello

Thanks for the update.. I really do appreciate..I'm a Marine engineer and I'm off shore at the moment...Your asking $10,500 is fair and I will like to make an initial deposit so you can be sure I'm very much interested but I shall contact an independent surveyor and mechanic to come over to determine the fitness and if it is suitable for the intended usage before I can provide your balance......As for the deposit,my preferred is a cashiers check, guarantee and easily cashed and  you keep $1100 as deposit and you send the remaining balance on the check to my  surveyor so that they can come down to your location for the inspection immediately...I will need you provide me your full name, mailing address and phone # so that the check can be mailed ASAP...

I shall be back in 3 weeks, but then my regiment will be deployed to Afghanistan and I will stay there for a while...Surely you will get the rest money after the Inspection is completed...I will  give you a call once I get onshore like wise the agency so that all arrangement can be intact..The best way to contact me is via email as I'm always running around with things..

I just got an email today from a Smith Lodge Paul asking if my classic Jaguar was still for sale.  It had been advertised as such last year. I replied yes and sent some photos and the asking price.  However, the tone of his email made me suspicious so I Googled his name and found this site.  I fully expect to hear back from him in the near future with his BS method of buying my car.   I think maybe I will sign my next email with the name Victor Eugene Edwards and maybe he will take the hint that I'm on to his scam.

Hi there,

How are you doing today? Hope all is well...
I apologize for the delay. I'm in the military and now I'm deployed in the United Kingdom with the US Marines and that's why I couldn't reply in time. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying the car. Why is the price so low? I am selling it because I am here in UK with my work, and my regiment will be deployed in three weeks in Libya and I think I'll stay there for a while that's why I'm selling it so cheap.
I intend to buy a new car when I'll get back home. So all that I want to do now is to sell it at this price, because I need to sell it fast. The car is located at Capital Couriers HQ shipping company in Miami, FL. The car is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever. The car comes with clean title and full service history. The interior looks great.  It is ready to be signed and notarized on your name .
I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the car, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions.
I'm very busy so I've decided to sell the car online using Capital Couriers as a 3'rd party because is the safest way to do it.

Then I told him to call me.... Then this was his response....

Hi again,

I apologize for the delay and as I said in my previous mail, I am always on the ship and because I can't handle the transaction myself I took it to the Capital Couriers warehouse in MIAMI, FL where they signed a contract with me in which I entitle them to sell the car for me. So the car is sealed, and deposited being prepared for shipping. They will also handle the payment and the papers.
I know this might represent a inconvenient for both of us, but this is exactly why I chose Capital Couriers, because they have a program in which even if you can't see the car before you can still test it for 10 days after delivery before the transaction is closed. The shipping is free no matter where in U.S., so there aren't any additional costs.
If you are still interested please let me know, all I need from you is your full name and your full address.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Sgt. Ryan

Plss... Don't be fooled... If it sounds to good to be true it is.... So I googled the Capital Couriers just to read the reviews and then all these people here commenting about this do called Srgt.... Wow....

Being in business and getting form letter e-mails like this all the time, I decided to look up info on the shipping company.  Google had this page first.  So it is good that people post this information to help protect others.  I never gave him a phone number, but he did reply with the same form letter speech.  Most likely he is not in the military, this is to make you feel compassionate toward him and want to help.  So anytime that anyone sees an e-mail like this, start looking for any shipping companies or any business names mentioned on Google.  If you find a page like this one, then immediately think that you are about to become a victim.  Watch out for sob stories and normally bad grammar.  And also, the speed.  Anything that has to happen immediately is a clue that something is not right.

WOW this guy is ridiculous. He's going by a new name now too. I saw an add for a Ford f250 4x4 turbo diesel for sale for $4300 in Los Angeles. It appealed to me because I was looking for a truck that had all the bells and whistles like this one had plus a two package for a bumper pull trailer and had advertised that he was hauling a two horse gooseneck with the truck to local horse shows. There was no phone number on the ad which I thought was bizarre. I emailed him asking if we could view the truck on a Saturday morning sometime. Never got a response until yesterday (emailed him over a week ago). The email was very script-like as if it had been pre-written. He also reffered to the truck as a car, which no truck owner does considering they are two different types of vehicles. He mentioned nothing about the vehicle itslef, just rambled on about why he was where he was and that he needed an adress and phone number etc. Then claimed it was at Capital Couriers HQ in Miami, FL when Capital Couriers is in Tallahassee, FL not Miami, if the company is even a real company at all and not just a scam company. The ad in which the truck was written in was much different than how the email was written; different sentence structure, differeing wording and use of punctuation etc. I also found it strange why he would list it in LA and claim that it was in FL, like that makes sense. Also, I could also tell the ad was old and stolen because the original ad said the owner purchased the truck at an auto outlet in New Mexico. Also, the background of the photos is definatly not land that you would see in LA. There is also a woman who has been taking the pictures as you can see (the link with the email and photos will be posted below) AND another add to the wording of the ad, the owner refers to the truck as a 'he' which defines that whoever had originally wrote the ad (before this man copied and scammed it) was a woman PLUS the fact that the front licence plate has a purple horse with a zebra striped background helps confirm the fact that is was indeed a woman who was selling the truck prior to the scam man who copied the ad. In addition to the truck being purchased in NM, it says it was 'I purchased this truck in January 2000 from the Ford dealership here in Albuquerque' which also confirms the fact that the truck was never in California. This man copied the ad of the original owner and played it off as if he was selling the vehicle. I will now be reporting the ad on the site it was listed. Please be aware everyone!

Here is the website where the truck was listed -

There is the ad listed on Oodle (it is the brown 1997 Ford f250 with 146,000mi)-

Here is the email I recieved -

P.S   So if you are interested please email me back, all I need from you is your full name and your full address, for the title transfer and your shipping address, this will be the address were you wish to receive the car.

Thank you very much for your consideration,

Wow, thanks for your heads up on this one. He is still trying under "Jared Wagner" to sell the Dodge in the UK. I had my doubts when the location he gave was Birmingham, East Sussex, Post Code TQ9 59E...which are three different locations!! Idiot. There is a lot of this stuff going on in the UK at present. I was almost caught out on it last year when responding to an ad for agricultural equipment.
