Like many of you, I have become frustrated with telemarketing calls.  I called the FTC, FCC, they were no help.  Called Verizon, they were no help, finally was told to call the police dept.

The officer called me and stated that unless a crime has been committed, they couldn't help me.  I asked him, "don't you consider identity theft and fraud a crime?"  He said yes, but we don't persue such matters.  But if you want a solution, I have one for you. "ok, I said."  He told me to get something called a Telezapper.  


Searching for it online located a company called telezapper, and radio shack sells a similar item as well.  I learned there is a lawsuit on behalf of the telemarketing association, on first amendment grounds, which  has yet to be heard by the supreme court.  There is a possibility that the FTC "do-not-call list"  might be overturned.  

Therefore, to my "I am sick and tired of telemarkters" brothers and sisters, may I pass the recommendation of the officer.  

Get a Telezapper.

"David Smith" keeps calling and calling yet we cant reach him to tell him to stop!   number is 904-757-4253

caller id says david smith.  sometimes when i'm bored i play with them.  provide ficticious vehicle info and start asking questions about what the warranty covers, if i sell it during the term of the coverage will i get a prorated adjustment, can they add coverage to my 2nd, 3rd and 4th vehicles , is there a special coverage for upholstery,  do they cover boat or rv?  whatever stupid crap i can think of.  they get all excited and ask method of payment but i tell them wait i have more questions, and even told them i'm really old and cant hold my water so could they please wait while i use the restroom and then i'll come back and then tell them wait i have to get my wallet   best ive ever done is 22 minutes before i told them to f off.
they still call and as far as i'm concerned theyre paying for the call so i might as well waste their time.  if everyone who gets these calls made it a point to string them along and waste/run up their phone charges they might decide to quit or take those of us eventually off of their list

Got a call this morning (I'm in Indiana) from this number and they hung up when it went to my answering machine. If I don't know the number I'll let it go to the machine.

July 2nd 2008 at 7:41 PM Central Standard Time. Answered and they hung up right away. Probably thought I was a kid. Didn't know the number or anyone by that name so answered the phone with a sweet innocent voice.

They call again I'll give them the run around.

I get subscription phone calls and magazines from REED PUBLICATIONS (EDN, Test and Measurement magazine). Is this common to anyone else?

I got a call from this # today and they wouldn't answer. I blocked the number from calling me again. Use it if you have it. It's usually called "Selective Call Rejection"

After reading the comments here, I added the number to my phone's address book and given it the distinctive ring of no ring.  :)

I just received a call from David Smith, 904-757-4253 and did not answer it as I do not know the caller or number.   No message was left on my answer machine.  I did a reverse number lookup and ended up on this website.  Is there a federal agency that we can report this to?  Scam artists like this need to be stopped and put away in jail where they belong.

Did not recognize the number or the name. Returned the call. Got a message that the number had been disconnected.

Next time these morons call, press 1 and when someone answers just scream really loud or have a whistle and blow it into the phone. LOL

Got call from Caller ID David Smith 904-757-4253 automated message about lowering my C/C interest.  Pressed (1) to speak to an operator.  Megan answered when I ask what bank she was from got no answer. When I mentioned Telephone Act that requires Banks to provide proper Business Caller ID she hung-up.

Called with a recording saying they are from my credit card compnay but nothing is wrong with my card, I hung up before listening to the rest of the BS. I wonder if any agency can do anyhting about this ongoing crap.
How about making a law that caller ID must have the true and correct info.
Now caller ID can be set to say anything, so the telemonkeys simply have it say whatever they want, tricking people. And how stupid can people be, one guy actually gave out his SSN #,  you know someone that stupid almost deserves what they get, all they do is encourage these people, they know there are people out there dumb enough to fall for anything, WIse up people never give any personal info of any sort, if the call is legit, you can call them back. It shouldnt be a problem, if it is, you know its a scam

I got a call as well from the number. It was a computer saying press one for a lower interest rate or two to have your number removed from our list.

I pushed two.

I received a call this afternoon from David Smith, no message

Just got the call...Put it to voice mail and they did not leave a message...HMMM...So I googled it and found this site...SO GLAD I DID NOT ANSWER THE PHONE!!

I just reported this clown to Card Services Risk Management Department.  They are going to launch an investigation into this since he is using their name.  Hopefully they can help capture this moron.

This guy is trying to pull an identity theft scam.  Report him to your local phone company a.s.a.p.  We need to get his phone line shut off.

This number called at 8:15 am. I said hello twice, then hung up when no one responded.

Just who is this person David Smith. What account is talking about, no name of account is he stating when he calls.
