§ 806. Harassment or abuse
A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:
(1) The use or threat of use of violence or other criminal means to harm the physical person, reputation, or property of any person.
(2) The use of obscene or profane language or language the natural consequence of which is to abuse the hearer or reader.
(3) The publication of a list of consumers who allegedly refuse to pay debts, except to a consumer reporting agency or to persons meeting the requirements of section 603(f) or 604(3)1 of this Act.
(4) The advertisement for sale of any debt to coerce payment of the debt.
(5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.
(6) Except as provided in section 804, the placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller’s identity.

§ 813. Civil liability
(a) Except as otherwise provided by this section, any debt col¬lector who fails to comply with any provision of this title with respect to any person is liable to such person in an amount equal to the sum of—
(1) any actual damage sustained

i got a call from this number about an hour ago. they spoke to the receptionist and asked for my boss, my location, and my boss's phone number stating they were with the sheriffs dept. they told that they were coming to pick me up. she then transferred the call to me. i picked up and they kept saying i had 2 charges and that they work with the sheriff dept and will be coming to pick me up in 15mins. i asked who they were calling with and what company they were with. they didnt say until after the 4th call. i had to call them 3x cause they kept hanging up on me. The call came out of florida. the last time i asked to speak to a supervisor. he said his name was tom and he stated the he works with the sheriffs dept and that they were coming to get me in 15 mins. he said he had ms smith call me but knows now that it was a mistake. he said good luck honey. then hung up. WOW! some people..

so of course i got scared. i mean who wouldnt be right. so i contacted the sheriffs dept. there were no warrants for my arrest or any calls to the location of my jobsite for an officer to pick up. they made me file a complaint for harrassment. the said they would never work with any businesses. then to make things worst, my boss calls because he got a call from them stating he needed to be here because they were comng for me. he told them that they were not allowed here. the said they would call him back and that was that.

im afraid because i might lose my job.
what can i do???

Gotten repeat calls from them.  They are looking for a person but clearly have WRONG contact number or was given mine in error.  Told to stop and "supervisor" a woman starting raising her voice, condescending, calling me "sweetheart" in a condescending manner.  I told her to lower her voice as I was just trying to resolve issue.  I asked to speak to head of firm.  She said not in.  She kept repeating and said unless I had name of person they were looking for nothing to do.  As I explained I had no idea what the last name was, she got irritated.  I told her to stop calling as it had been intermittent for 1 year and I said I was going to refer them to better business bureau.  She dared me to and said I don't "fuc%$$" care.  Low class business that thinks they are tough in trying to collect debt but don't realize that they were probably given wrong or old contact numbers.  What is my recourse in stopping them from calling as they are harrassing me?  I would not trust anything they say nor giev any info to them.

Got 5 calls in 3 hours from them this morning.  Message left by Travis Dean who then transferred me to Tom Kerr.  Mr. Kerr was very aggressive and rude and threatening to have me arrested for 2 felonies at my work if I did not make restitution TODAY!!!  Then proceeded to tell me that he hopes my attorney will bail my "sorry a**" out of jail.
First off, I realize that I do owe the payday loan company money and will pay it when I am able - unfortunately that is not today as my husband has been out of work since June.  Secondly, that is no way to treat people.  It's bad enough that we are having trouble paying our bills and have stress and worry with that alone - but now we have to get badgered and abused by some bean counter?!?!?  I filed a formal complaint on the FTC website as well as the BBB in Texas (where I live) and Florida (where they are located).

A  Mr. Thomas Kerr left message stating he was a detective and would be sending people to find my daughter and to speak to my family. When she returned the call he stated to her there are warranties out for her arrest for fraud. When she asked who he was looking for he had the wrong SS#, she told him he had the wrong person, and he was rude about his threats and never apologized. I am contacting the Texas BBB (where we live) and the Florida BBB (where the number originated from), plus other agencies related to unfair harassment.

A mr. Thomas Kerr is harrassing me with threats at my place of employment about a payday loan that was taken care of over a year ago! Threatens to have the sheriff department come to my job and arrest me for fraud. keeps calling the receptionist.

Sizie Johnson is calling me from this number making accusations about a legal matter. I do not have any idea as to what she is talking about. She spoke with my former supervisor asking questions about me but I no longer work for the company. This is a constant problem. She said she was going to send the investigators to get me. She needs to stop calling that lady asking questions about someone else. This is a royal pain.

Said in a message that He was an investigator, I had a court case @ 2pm and then they would be coming to get me!!

Said they would come to my home or job and again said we will come to get you and will find you.

ILLEGAL!!!

This person called my previous employer asking for me and they told him that I didn't work there anymore. He didn't believe them and of course kept calling back. He was rude and being a smart-mouthed person.
