Telemarketer
They are using a new number 407-712-3115. They are now claiming to work for the "government agency" to get you $3500 in energy rebates!  Didn't know if it was a state or federal rebate.  Claimed this would save the USA from using foreign oil.  Same spiel, it only takes 20 minutes, we're not selling anything, just providing you with information to claim your rebate.  Our technician will be in your area, blah, blah, blah.....Then comes the personal questions, do you own your home, how much is your electric bill, etc...I asked for a website, there is none, can you mail me the information instead? No, technician has to determine if we qualify for rebate, then we'll give you the forms to claim information.

This is why I screen my calls.  I thought this was a friend's number!

Telemarketer
Well, This company (Solar 1st sunpac) has now enlisted "American Power Assoc." and their number is 407-690-3631, which if you do a reverse look-up, is located in Winter Springs.
If you try to dial that number, no answer, and does not accept messages, nor can I find a number for Solar 1st..
While I endorse Solar as a power source, I am NOT going to deal with an untraceable telemarketer nor will I make such improvements to my home without seeking bids from reputable companies.
FYI, I made the appointment and listened to their pitch.
The service which is "funded by the US Government" per the telemarketer, is actually a "residential solar hot water system" and their "free" product actuall costs $13,095, with "rebates" of $3300, $500 and $450.
I also noted the vehicle tag of the representative which I will check out after posting this. The rep provided the name "Joe Zayak" but I can't find any listing on thet either.
According to my research, American Power Assoc. also calls themself "U.S. Energy Group"

To Woodrow you obviously work for the company - and are obviously using the same strong arm techniques as the sales people.  I dont think anyone has said that they done thing that using solar is a bad idea the complaints all seem to be related to the method that the message is going out to people.  If your company truly wanted to promote solar energy it would do it in a more clear and up front manner as to gain the trust of the people.  The tactics being used here are well very timeshare like- and hey some timeshares are great deals but others are not.  So, using these shifty methods puts a bad taste in peoples mouths with your company.  I had a guy come out last night and try to presssure me into something right now, but I dont roll that way. However I am now goignto look into this technology but buy from someone else if I find that it really functions as advertised as well as have my global company look into it as well.

Why don't you all get together and waste your time and efforts calling the Government. Maybe they will send a G man by your office to explain to you Geniuses how the program works without you having to give up a copper penny. You can then say as a group we need to think about this, or we need some time to absorb all the information.  Cold Water in, The Sun is really Hot, Hot water out.!!!!! WOW. you guys are SOOOO Smart. Next you will probably Bi*** about the Economy and still do nothing to improve it.   Go Visit Mickey Mouse this year. Ohh! I'm sorry He raised his prices too. Must be a good thing for the Economy.  Get a grip and learn something besides why you pay soooo much to the power company to heat up water.  There is a better way People. That's why America is in a HUGE HOLE, People like you will help to keep her there. Nice Job Morons!!!!

I have to agree with that other guy Woodrow. The only thing he said wrong is that The sun isn't Free unless you use it, And that YOU and Sandy are BOTH IDIOTS. Hey how about putting your hand out for somebody to educate you for Free and then give you an incentive to explain how the Government program works. I think it's funny how you both got a free education and your still Dumb enough to Pay to Heat up Water. The Gov't Incentive program is for people that DO SOMETHING!  Stop waiting for the handout for doing Nothing. Do you feel like your power company cares about weather or not you use the Sun? Progress Energy only made about a BILLION DOLLARS last year and they still got a power raise that affected everyone.  Get educated Moron!!!!

Wow, You wrote a novel and it wasn't even your power bill. You must really care about your sister and the choice she got to make on who provides her with power to heat up water.  You just probably blocked any chance of your sister having a CHOICE. Good move Genius ! Do you work for the Power Company ? Or do you just like getting your teeth kicked in every year while sitting by and Bitching about the Sun as an alternative source of energy. Thank GOD all the other oil burning morons that have a choice don't listen to you. How do you like our country being held Hostage by the Power Pirates that sell us Millions of Barrels of oil daily so you can NOT us the SUN for FREE. You and your sister are IDIOTS. You for advising Her and Her for listening.  P.S   I don't have any problems with my Solar System and the Arab Nations can keep their oil. My bill got cut literally in half. Again, Good advise Genius...

We'll they never told me this and I already have a solar hot water heater system, he went on to say how horrible abd outdated my 3 year old system was, I told him.. Well it knocked $100 per month off my electric bill! Anyway the guy left and NO $50 GIFTCARD FOR DINNER! He says the call center will be in touch and pay me but I highly doubt it.

I just rec'd a call from this company in from a telephone number in Orlando. It was 407-227-0266. Clearly the solicitor was in a call center as there was significant noise in the background and some yelling occurred whilst we were on the call. I am dubious about these things by nature, but  this call was over the top. The story was scripted to me exactly as the others before me. After hearing the pitch, I went on the offense with the solicitor and had a bit of fun. I'm sorry, but when a company refuses to provide you any evidence of their legitimacy--like a phone number, a website, a supervisor, etc....then in my book their practices can be construed as fraudulent.

Bottom line if it looks like a scam, sounds like a scam and smells like a scam, well you get the idea...........

Sounds like you had your mind made up before the person came to your house.  Did they give you good advise on how to save money on your energy bills?  They did for me! If you look for a crack in the wall in your brand new home you'll find one.  Givin any situation there are always good sales people and bad.  But then again there is always good people who listen and try to better themselves and their families situation, by saing money and helping th environment. But on the other hand there is going to be people who blame others as well. I'd have to put you in that category.  I'm very please customer and have referred my friends and family.  And yes it does pay for itself.  In fact, I'm calling my salesperson and now want the solar attic fan as well.

They are from Conserving Energy Assoc. and we all should be as well. If we don't start to conserve soon, were all going to being paying a lot more for our power bills.  I'm going to hear what they got to say.  Solar seems like the smart and obvious choice.

I desided to check out the company and found out that they actually sell for Energy Labs in Jacksonvile,Fl.  The are a very respectable company that is doing exactly what they say.  Sure the approach is different but in the end the results don't lie and either did they.  I bought the solar water heater and it has saved me the money they said it would and it has paid for itself. I'm very  pleased, and feel like I'm doing my part to help our country get off foreign oil. I guess some people really don't believe that there are people in this world that really want to help you and save money.

Some people can't and don't know a good deal even if it's right in their hands.  This company is doing their job to help the world get off fossil fuels, which we purchase from other countries.  Wake up-  Yes it doesn't cost anything up front.  And it will pay for itself in the short haul not long haul. Bottom line is it will save the consumer money.  Just like a new AC unit would in saved energy!  Everything new should cost something, however this company is just trying to help people and this country save money which happens to also be backed and funded the U.S. Why?  Because we are in a serious trouble in this country.  Solar is the best way because it's a free resource!  The systems they sell don't cost you anything because of th money you;ll save.  It's just simple math but some people just and won't understand a good thing when it's infront of them.  You could give away 50 pink new cars in the U.S. a someone would complain of the color.  I think a better way then to just complain is to look at the people who did buy and see if they have a complaint.  I've looked!  No complains!  I'll be buying soon, because solar is the way and yes the bill doesn't go up every year.  It's free resource from God. Da it should cost something!  Do you go to work for free?  I didn;t think so!

Got the same call and met with the "technician" from Solar 1st SunPac tonight. After a review of their "energy solutions" energy saving tip sheet...They tried to sell me a solar water heater, Solar attic fan, KVAR unit and attic insulation.  Started out at $11,995 and ended up offering at $1,797 for the solar fan and solar hot water heater (which included government and energy company rebates).  High pressure sales (have to make decision right now)... took about an hour,  they want your spouse there so you can both make decision (reminded me of timeshare sales).  We didn't buy.

Telemarketer
I can see they're trying the same pitch on me. Thanks for the warning; I'll cancel before they come to the house. I'm on the no-call list, too, but last night, a telemarketer from the Conserving Energy Association pitched a free, 20-minute survey of my home that would show me how to save on my electric bill. When I called my power company to ask whether they were sending out people to do these surveys, the Customer Service rep said no, but he had heard from other people about these companies. He said they would offer the service for free, but once there, they would try to sell you something anyway. In my case, too, Conserving Energy opened with the lure that I'd get a $50 coupon to a local restaurant -- the telemarketer listed quite a few familiar names in the South Florida area. This was a courtesy call, the telemarketer said, because our local power company was trying to help out its customers. Then she asked me if I knew that a rate hike from the power company was going into effect soon. When I agreed to the survey, the phone marketer questioned me about the number and names of people in the house, and how much our monthly power bill was on average. I was surprised when she tried to set me up for an appointment for the very next morning. When I asked for a phone number in case my plans changed, she said there wasn't a number, because she was at a call center. That made me really suspicious! But the company would call me the day of the appointment to confirm again before coming out. When I asked for the name of whoever would take the survey in my house, I was told a "U.S. Energy technician." I got the same confirmation code, 782347, then a supervisor verified my information. I don't have called ID -- I've had to cut way back since my layoff 18 months ago -- so no phone number to warn against. But I really, really thank everyone who commented on this website and confirmed my doubts about this scam.

My situation is similar: the telemarketer (and I'm on the no-call list) pitched a company funded by the stimulus package that would send someone to my home and promise to reduce my power bills, and give me a $50 coupon for some restaurant.  When asked what was in it for them, they said nothing, there would be no charge for their advice.  I said they had and was told that whatever the power company said was just to sell more electricity, or why would they do it?  They asked all kinds of questions about the number of people living here, then set up an appointment for the a few evenings from now.  I was called back with a confirmation number, and I asked what company this was (Conserving Energy Association), and if I might have a phone number to use in case something came up and I couldn't be here.  She assured me that the inspector would call in advance and gave me the same confirmation number 782347, then confirmed that the name and address she had were correct.

Just a hint.....If you want to represent your company well, you need to comment with correct grammar and punctuation.  "They're" going to hold much more validity for "their" association, whether here or "there".
I just received a call from a rep 10 minutes ago, so I find it very informational to read all of the comments.  Thank you to you all.

I had the same call, same spiel, and agreed to set up an appointment--but decided to do it 6 days later so that I could check up on them. It's interesting that they gave me the same confirmation # that you received 782347.

They are to come tomorrow and are supposed to call in advance. If they call, I will certainly cancel the appointment.  And if they show up without calling, I'll tell them to leave and not come back--or maybe just not answer the door!

I'm so thankful for all these comments--Internet searches are the best!

My situation is similar to Sandy's: the telemarketer (and I'm on the no-call list) pitched a company funded by the stimulus package that would send someone to my home and promise to reduce my power bills by half, and give me a $50 coupon for some restaurant.  When asked what was in it for them, they said nothing, there would be no charge for their advice, and they asked if the power company had done an assessment on my home.  I said they had and was told that whatever the power company said was just to sell more electricity, or why would they do it?  They asked all kinds of questions about the number of people living here, what kind of water heater I had (gas), what other gas appliances (stove and dryer), etc., then set up an appointment for the next morning.  I was called back with a confirmation number, and I asked what company this was (Conserving Energy Association), and if I might have a phone number to use in case something came up and I couldn't be here.  She assured me that the inspector would call in advance and gave me the confirmation number 782347, then confirmed that the name and address she had were correct.  I'm happy to say that they never showed up.  I seriously object to their reference to the stimulus package and hope they get nothing from the government.

Ok, but if your company is legit, why do they lie when they call the house, saying that "no one here is trying to sell you anything"? They also called my house for several days, several times a day and just hung up on me. Like Sandy said, it's devious and obnoxious. I understand you guys have a job to do, but why not do it the right way? I also understand that you are just an employee and have to follow your job guidelines, but I seriously think that when the telemarketers call people and make appointments on false premises, it only makes YOUR job harder as a salesperson. Don't you agree? I would rather have 2 or 3 appointments a day with good leads, who know why I'm coming to see them; than have 10 appointments with people who have NO CLUE and are about to get pissed off when they find out the appointment setter lied to them on the phone. I've done sales before and I know how hard it is, especially when you lose the customers' trust.

i work for them and it is high preasure sales because you have to accept the offer that day to get special discounts.but we are legitamate. the sunpac system does save you the full cost to power an electric hot water heater wich on average is $50 to $60 dollar a month at our current rate of .14 cents per kilowatt hour.you do the math its on the yellow label.and what he meant by it not costing anything is would,nt cost anything out of they're normal budget.in other words the payment would be the same as what they would have to pay the power company to heat there water.but the payment would stay the same until paid off, while the cost uf electric would continue to rise. i,ve been doing this a month and i allways haTED salesmen and now i am one.solar is the future and this system greatly benefit your familys buget for years to come. and the government, state, and power companies are willing to pay half the purchasewith all rebates combined

I had a rep who came to my home to explain how I could save energy. The phone rep.stated that they were no going to sell me anything. I told the rep. that I was not going to sign anyhting that day and she should leave her number. She started to write a number (I think that might have been a good number) and then she crossed it out and gave me another number. I have tried many times to call her and even left messages and so far no answer.
Another rep. from another company came with the same pressure sale pitch. When I refused to sign any papers she overstayed her welcome and I had to get up from around the table to give her a hint that I wanted her to leave. She was worst because she refused to leave her papers, stating that she was told that she should not leave the papers if I was not buying the same day. I told her to take her paper and go.

Here is the follow up I promised regarding my sister's appointment this morning with Conserving Energy Association:  The following is written by her:

The representative from Conserving Energy Association came to my house today. PLEASE BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! As it turned out he was trying to sell solar panels and hotwater heaters for SunPac in Jacksonville, FL. This is high pressure sales at it's best.  When Conserving energy Association called to make the appointment I was told that it was only supposed to take 20 minutes, they were not selling anything, that this was part of the stimulus energy package set up by the government and they said that we would get a gift card for $50 to a restaurant. The lady even said she had them come to her house and it was to educate the public on how to conserve energy and when they left her house they laid the gift certificate on her table when they were leaving. Well it took 2 hours and no gift card.  He said that he had no idea about that, he was not aware of what I was told over the phone.  He was not even aware that I was told it would only take 20 minutes.  We told him time was up and he kept on talking.  We had to tell him repeatedly that he needed to leave. I explained that we did not have the money to do this and he did not take no for an answer--instead he did what all high pressure sales people do and said that today only we would get a great deal.  I explained we were in financal hardship and did not have the money to pay our monthly bills. He ignored this completely and continued trying to talk me into it. He said some kind of comment about being cut off and not having enough time.  I told him I was told 20 minutes and it had been two hours.  That is when he told me he knew nothing about that.  Then I asked about the $50 gift card and he said he knew nothing about that.  I said that I was going to call in a complaint that everything they told me on the phone to set up the appointment was a lie. He said that he was going to call them right now and find out.  What does he do?  With me standing next to him in the driveway, he called his manager and tells him that he is at our house and that he has been kicked out and I refused to take the deal even if was going to cost me no money, which I have no idea where he got that from as it was going to cost anywhere between $80 to $399 a month, and he got really nasty.  I finally closed the garage door on him and went in the house while he was still talking to his manager. Oh, and I have to add that he came to the house driving a brand new Chrysler 300!  I wonder who he ripped off to be able to buy that.  There seems to be no way to contact anyone, including SunPac and the cell number that the lady who set up the appointment gave me. Do not accept calls from Conserving energy Association, Solar 1st SunPac or energy Labs (these are all listed on the residential solar domestic hot water price sheet that the rep. left with me.  Not sure if the business is legitimate or not, but their sales practices are devious and obnoxious.
