I just got the same call "please hold on for a representative".they stated Citi. but I was in the car and not 'holding'. I have a citi card i closed and am current on a payment plan- so I hung up. then realized I have a HD card and it is held by Citi. I had to do some major work on a rental home and have a balance. When the 6 months ran out, it went to 25.99% and i called to see if they would reduce the rate. They would not budge, so when the e-mail customer survey came around, I ripped them as being very consumer unfriendly to a long time customer and said I would never step in HD again and Lowes is getting all my business. Maybe they are calling to lower my rate! (NOT holding my breath).

I lost my job last year, and I made payment arrangements with Citi for 12 months. August 2011 was my final month in the arrangement. Now that it's over, Citi has been calling me constantly. When I answer the phone, I get the same recording, "We are sorry that we are unable to speak with you. Please stay on the line for an important message." I don't stay on the line, so I don't know if the call drops. I just hang up. I'm a much too busy person to wait around on the phone. My account is active, and up to date. I thought that they might have been calling about interest rates changing, but then I thought it best not to assume. I logged onto my Citi online account, and everything is absolutely in order. There should be no reason for them to call me. I could understand if I were late on a payment or some such nonsense, but I am very good about paying my bills early. I can't wait to get this card paid off and canceled. I will never have a credit card with them again.

Yep, it?s Citi cards calling to bug you about a late payment. They call constantly, almost 8x a day. I finally starting saving the phone numbers and setting the ringer to silent, so now they won?t bother me?at least until they call from the next new number. I am up to 12 numbers! : 816-420-4003; 336-522-8998; 817-802-1496; 972-655-2510; 904-954-3073; 904-954-3071; 859-283-3677; 859-283-8071; 972-655-5210; 740-834-1496; and 816-420-4002 are ALL CITI BANK!!!

They keep calling me - but they never leave a message. They called a few minutes ago and they actually left a message. In the message all they did was whisper my name - CREEPY!

Don't worry, there is NO debtor's jail. Period.
Deadbeat 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
F*** 'em, it's some light weight debt collection pussies who would rather annoy you than deal with
you. Funny how they always seem to call my cell, which I give out to noone accept family and
a few close friends, and never call my home where I could waste some of their time and money.

OMG...they are sooo annoying. I got 6 calls today!! I'm not passed due with anyone anymore, so I dont answer calls I dont know. I finally answered on the 6th time. It is CITI Card...I am NOT behind on my payments, although my card is closed and I am on a payment plan, which CITI CARD automaticlly withdraws the $$ from my checking account. They were calling to tell me that I have a pass due amount...HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING THE $ OUT EVERY MONTH. I gave them proof that this months payment was made, and they had to reverse late fees and over limit fees. I will be so glad when this card is paid off!!
Sheryl 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
They keep calling and does not care what time of the day it is..i put DO NOT ANSWER on my phone so everytime they call me I just press ignore.
Nick 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
This is CitiGroup. The only way to stop these calls is to answer. They (their computer) called both my house and cell phone for over a month multiple times a day. I finally picked-up It is legit though. They wanted to re-establish a closed credit card. They knew cards I had, dates and circumstanses so I knew they were real. All they needed was my income. Any one could just guess that, so this is not a scam.
in debt too 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
they can't put you in jail for being behind. They have to go through court and file a suit against you. Then you have 30 days from when you're served to answer to the court as to your situation. then the judge determines if there's sufficient cause to schedule a hearing. at the hearing you first meet with the creditor to try to work something out. if needed the judge will make the decision.

These freaking people have called me 6-7 times a day on my work phone and cell phone (which i am limited on my minutes).....for being .31 cents over my credit limit when they are the one's who set me up on a repayment plan.......major do***ebags......31 cents - that's about amount i get charged for overage on my cell phone......cell phone is my only way to talk becuase a home phone is useless for us.

Rita Collazo 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
I've called sevral times and my Caller ID said, and seys: CITIGROUP
Jacqueline 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
I have received several calls from the company or place and the caller I.D. show CITIGROUP. I am the phone this morning and no one responded to hello. I answered because a message was left the night before and I could not understand the message or catch the voice. The night before this tried to sound like an old friend by using my first and then their voice was reall faint. Be careful and don't fall for whatever this con job is.

Believe me, I wish it were just a scam. But, it is as real as it gets. It's Citi's hit men collectors. And they are some ruthless nasty @ss people. I mean, I got behind on paying them, but I am sending them what I can. They want more, and they want it now. Or, and I quote "our next call will be to the police". Can they put me in jail for getting behind on paying them? I thought debt was civil, not criminal.

COmamax4 2011-06-06 21:06:32 Unknown
called my cell 2x's today...I don't give my cell # out! I called back from my computer using skype (so they wouldn't have a number) and recording said they are citibank for city & ATT universal cards. Wanted my account # and to have my social security # ready. I got through to an "agent" but he hung up when I didn't talk (didn't have my microphone on.) Though the recording sounded legit...real companies don't ask you for your ss# but just part of it. And I don't have either of the credit cards they mentioned. Phishing scam?
