Telemarketer
I received this call as well. They told me that I filled a ballot at a supermarket about a week ago. The funny thing was the name they said I filled it in as Mr. My Wifes's Maiden so I knew it was BS. I played along for a while and I told him I was going to call my Lawyer and the CRTC as we are on the DNC list. He told me good for you that you are on the DNC List and then to F&^% off and they hung up.

I then received a return call from a person saying he was the Lawyer of the telemarketer and he was going to call the police to charge me for abusing the telemarketer.

I asked him where he was calling from and he said Woodbridge. He gave me a phone number which ending up being someone else's home number.

Based on the accent , these guys are calling from Nigeria or the Islands.

This sounds to be a TIMESHARE SCAM

Yeah i received a call too around 9:30 on Monday and he said I entered a ESSO draw at a Wal-Mart or Canadian Tire, he told me where to go a building beside the Esso station in Woodbridge, Ontario located at 6157 HWY 7 and the major intersection is HWY 7 and HWY 27. He told me when I get there i have to fill out a form with some reception lady named Linda and that my prize that I will be choosing is at random meaning that I will choose one but not sure what it is. He gave me the options of going either on Wednesday or Tuesday in the evening. But should I call ESSO head office to confirm this or not?

Just got a call from these people.  First I couldn't understand a word he said and made him repeat himself over and over and finally I caught something about a prize.  I told him not interested and he said he was going to call my husband back.  Ya well I'm not married and my boyfriend will take the next call.  He also started to get loud when I couldn't understand him.  Nothings free pal.

OMG these people started calling me on Sunday evening I answered, they butchered my last name not unusual generally a dead giveway that it's a telemarketer.  I told him to buzz off and to stop calling on a long weekend and hung up.  They proceeded to call back 8 times after that leaving VM messages of people coughing.  I'm beyond angry now, I don't fill out ballots any where so I know I didn't win a prize of any kind, don't know how they got my phone number but it wasn't from me.  Thank you to the first posting to alerting me what the scam was about, and to the second one who stated they yelled at him, that explains why they went nuts on me and kept calling back and tying up my phone line for over a 1/2 hour.

I got a call from these guys as well.  He listed atleast 10 places that I or "my partner/co-worker/relative" could have filled out this ballot.  I worked in the back office of a telemarketing company for 4 years and I never fill anything out with my real phone number so he was clearly lying.  He also claimed he was not a telemarketer.  I am alway polite but firm with these calls so I heard him out and told him I was not interested and he told me I wasn't listening to him and then proceeded to start yelling at me.  I laughed at him and told him yelling wasn't going to change my mind.  He screamed louder at me saying I was the one yelling even though I never raised my voice.

These people are crazy.  Ignore them.

May 22, 2010 @ 10:52am.

I'm not sure about this phone number (905)158-1549 calling my home and saying that I filled out a ballot at either Walmart or a gas station across the city (which I don't recall doing).  They say I win 1 of 5 prizes... 2 of the prizes are vacations, one is a bedroom suite, one is $1500 cash and the other is a Toshiba TV.  They say that there are no obligations and no sales pitches.  I just have to make an appointment to go to their business and claim my prize.  My guess is that they charge a  shipping/handling fee and then I won't see my prize or hear from them again!  If anybody knows anything, please post a message.  Thanks.
