How do we stop these people from calling??!! They are a total pain....and a "do not call" can't be used for them!!  They are even worse than prank calls. Government....need you to stop this nonsense!!

Complaints to the CRTC do little good.  
1.  It's a false number which stops any procedures dead.
2.  It's a bunch of US telescum which stops any procedures dead.  I understand that a bunch of Quebec telescum are circumventing the US laws also.
3.  The legislation is pretty toothless.  All unsolicited calls were supposed to be stopped but then the politicians started throwing in exemptions.
- Surveys - I've gotten several calls that are announced as surveys but are actually telemarketing. "This is a survey about duct cleaning. Did you know that it is recommended to have your ducts cleaned every two years?" (Word structure as spoken - can't do an East Indian accent in type.)
-  Newspaper solicitation - c'mon solicitation is solicitation - the Toronto Star keeps calling even though I've asked repeatedly to be on their do not call list.  The last call made me lose my temper a little so my response was "The Star - that left wing liberal rag?  I don't read garbage."
-  Political - still solicitation - I tell them I'd only contribute to a party that made effective anti-telemarketing legislation or at least honestly endorsed it and clearly that hasn't happened yet.

But more importantly and realistically we're talking about a government bureaucracy here.

Personally I think that once a threshold of call complaints is reached - maybe 100 in a month.  The offenders phones should all be disconnected with major penalties for circumvention.  Napoleonic code should then be applied.  Draconian?  Yes, but effective and you would not need to do many before they got the message.  

Anyway, I'm done venting for now.  Time to put out the garbage.

automated message saying 'this message is for all Canadians...blah blah...and we'll help  you with your debt"...I pressed 2 to be removed from the list..hopefully that doesn't mean my number got flagged as 'active' and get sold to another dozen scum bag telemarketers...It's very sad that the phone companies wont do crap to bar these numbers.

Once again got a call from debt helpers this morning.  I'm in Vancouver, BC.  They call quite regularly these days, every 2-3 days.  Knowing that there isn't much I can do about them, I usually try to at least get their heart beat up and spoil their self-esteem.  
This time the guy sounded like a n****r, so I asked him if he was one of the cheating and stealing, raping and robbing n****rs that I hear about.  Explained to him that I found it strange to converse with an animal, but admittedly he sounded self-aware so I thought I'd give it a try and ask him not to call me again and only focus on other n****rs. He got defensive so I suggested to him to tie himself a noose and use it to in order to make the world a better place. He then hung up on me, but really I hope he took the advice.

I get this on my answering machine all the time. If I'm home I may answer. Always afraid to press 1 or 2 in case you are committing to something.

Phone companies should be able to do something, but they are probably the ones providing the service to the creeps. So they make money off the calls also.

Doesn't sound like people are being charged anything for pressing 1 or 2. So the air horn to the phone sounds like a good idea if someone picks up when you press 1 or 2.

A prerecorded message telling you that they can solve 80% of your credit card debt - then tells you to push a button on your keypad.   Obviously a credit card scam .

Same phone spam and BS voicemail.  

With every spam, I call Telus (my provider) to register a complaint.  They compile complaint lists and forward them to the CRTC. My complaint is just a speck of dust, but if everybody registers their respective specks, maybe, eventually, at some point in time, it'll make the CRTC sneeze.

Also, since they are using a Canadian-based number to relay international spam, it's important to contact the Canadian 'Do Not Call List" to register a complaint.  They are required to investigate each complaint, and they have some teeth to clamp down on these Canadian proxy numbers.

The guy was very HARRASSING. The guy called me with this number phone, and he wanted to sell me a trip. He told me he are in Florida....but, how he can to have my phone number??? And when he called me, i looked trip on internet........and i had never write my phone number.....

Still harrassing us today. They won't hang up and will keep trying to reach you. They know you will answer and if you don't it will ring and ring for two minutes. Scammers, just trying to get your money. Don't believe a word they say.

rec'd this call today when I was out - of course no message left - I called them back and the message I get is that this number is out of service - I left a lot of "F you" messages anyway for them and it made me feel better.  Called them again and left some more "F you" messages!

Left a voicemail offering to help me with credit card debt.

306-472-4782 and 306-254-2398 in Regina, SK...have compained to the CRTC and MP and MLA...I am sick of these a***oles;debt reduction, blah, blah...thought a cell would be better, but my husband gets just as many on his cell.  I even tried to play along, playing the old lady thing and never got a clear answer to exactly what they wanted besides my credit info.  WTf r the RCMP's doing about this shat.  I swear to  goodness, if I ever find one of these mother f****rs, their wrecking our ecomony by prying on our old and disabled...and the the govt is doing shat....harper should concretate harder on the real crooks and not kids smoking pot

I also received this call and no one there and no number when I tried to call. This is the second one in an hour. Come on, I have had it. Anybody else to bi*** too???

I have pressed "2" trice in the past week to stop these calls. I complained to the CRTC once on their website. However these calls continue. BTW, we are on the "do not call" list

thank goodness for call block, I have 2 options for this, one is a busy beep another is telling them you don't accept their call.   Love it....

Yep...I dont answer and they dont leave any message...however, it is most annoying when compounded with all the other crap calls...We should be able to block these calls by number as they call with their crap...Anyone know how to do it with a land line???

A pre-recorded message comes on re: helping you with your debt. They call everyday &  sometimes more than once.I have them blocked.
